  • The duration of spatial memory in cattle is potentially important for grazing management. The ability of livestock to remember the location of food patches may lead to uneven range use. In this experiment, how long cattle are able to remember food locations was determined. Six steers were used to conduct this study in a pasture with an 8 row by 8 column grid of 64 plastic containers 5 meters apart. Four randomly chosen containers were loaded with feed pellets. All steers were trained to find the loaded locations until a minimum of empty containers were visited. After this initial training, each steer was tested at 5, 10, 20 and 48 days post-training. Total number of visits (TV), number of containers visited (NC), the ratio of loaded containers (LC) to NC were recorded. Once the steers learned the locations of loaded containers NC did not increase with time since last training up to 48 days (p>0.05). Logarithmic transformation of NC (LNC) was 0.70 and 0.80 for the control and 48 day treatments, respectively. Steers were equally efficient in locating containers with feed. The steers also showed that their ability in locating food was much better than expected by chance (Z>1.62). Findings of the present study do not suggest using spatial memory decay as a tool to promote better grazing distribution. Because steers remembered food locations accurately for at least 48 days.

  • Although shared memory parallel programs are designed to be deterministic both in their final results and intermediate states, the races that occur when different processes access a common memory location in an order not guaranteed by synchronization could result in unintended non-deterministic executions of the program. So, Detecting races, particularly first data races, is important for debugging explicit shared memory parallel programs. It is possible that all data races reported by other on-the-fly algorithms would disappear once the first races were removed. To detect races parallel programs with nested loops and inter-thread coordination, it must guarantee the order of synchronization operations in an execution instance. In this paper, we propose an improved restructuring method that guarantee ordering execution instance and preserve the semantics of original program. This method requires O(np) time and (s + up) space, where n is the number of total operations, s is the number of synchronization operations and p is the number of parallelism in the execution. Also, this method makes on-the-fly detection of parallel program with nested loops and inter-thread coordination more easily in space and time complexity.

  • This study was designed to examine the effects of red ginseng total saponin and extract on spatial working memory in mice using Morris water maze. Two kinds of red ginseng saponin (No. 1 and No. 2) and three kinds of red ginseng extract (No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3) to have different PD/ PT ratio (No. 1=1.24, No.2=1.47 No.3=2.41) were prepared by mixing the different parts of red ginseng In different ratio. In acute administration of total saponin No. 1 or No. 2, escape time to reach to a hidden platform In a fixed location for training trials was significantly decreased as compared with control group and swimming time in the quadrant that had contained the platform was also significantly increased as compared with control group. In acute treatment of extract No. 1 or 1 No. 2, swimming time in the platformless quadrant was increased dose dependently as compared with control group, especially at dose of 200 mg/kg,bw swimming time was significantly Increased. Oral treatment of extract No. 1 (100 mg/kg, bw) for 7 days produced an increase of swimming time In the platformless quadrant but a decrease of swimming time in No.3-treated group (100 mg/kg, bw). These results show that red ginseng may improve spatial discrimination learning and spatial working memory of mice

  • Recently, with the rapid development of mobile computing, wireless positioning technologies, and the generalization of wireless internet, LBS (Location Based Service) which utilizes location information of moving objects is serving in many fields. In order to serve LBS efficiently, the location data server that periodically stores location data of moving objects is required. Formerly, GIS servers have been used to store location data of moving objects. However, GIS servers are not suitable to store location data of moving objects because it was designed to store static data. Therefore, in this paper, we designed and implemented an extended SLDS(Short-term Location Data Subsystem) for real-time Location Based Services. The extended SLDS is extended from the SLDS which is a subsystem of the GALIS(Gracefully Aging Location Information System) architecture that was proposed as a cluster-based distributed computing system architecture for managing location data of moving objects. The extended SLDS guarantees real-time service capabilities using the TMO(Time-triggered Message-triggered Object) programming scheme and efficiently manages large volume of location data through distributing moving object data over multiple nodes. The extended SLDS also has a little search and update overhead because of managing location data in main memory. In addition, we proved that the extended SLDS stores location data and performs load distribution more efficiently than the original SLDS through the performance evaluation.

  • The vehicle oriented block box system based on the u-healthcare and the human-free guard functions is developed in this paper. We also suggested the design philosophies, ideas, and analyzed the performance of the suggested system. The developed vehicle oriented black box system has some characteristics such as; 1) detects the dangerous situation by ultrasonic sensor in advance, and stores the situation information of the neighborhood of the vehicle to the imbedded SD memory card if the dangerous situation may be occurred in the parked vehicle; 2) detects the present location and speed information of the vehicle by GPS receiver and 3-axes acceleration sensor, and stores the information to the SD memory card periodically if the vehicle is running; 3) measures the dioxide carbon in the vehicle inside using $CO_2$ sensor, and forces the ventilation motor of the vehicle to operate and maintains the driver's health if the measured level is more than standard health requirements; 4) provides the stored vehicle's operating information to the driver by GUI (Graphical User Interface) based touch LCD monitor.

  • We presented the holographic memory system using a multi-mode optical fiber. In this system, we multiplexed multiple holograms using the lights from multi-mode optical fibers as reference beams. The proposed system has two degrees of multiplexing freedom: speckle pattern of light coming from multi-mode fiber and spatial location of multi-mode fibers. Therefore, the data addressing in the system can be performed by mode and spatial multiplexings.

  • CMAC (Cerebeller Model Articulation Controller) is kind of Neural Networks that imitate the human cerebellum. For storage and retrieval of learned data, the input of CMAC is used as a key to determine the memory location. he learned information is distributively stored in physical memory. The learning of CMAC is very fast and converged well, therefore, it effects the application of Pattern Recognition. Through the our experiment of Pattern Recognition, we will prove that CMAC is very suitable for On-line real time processing and incremental learning of Neural Networks.

  • Various systems are used to provide the location based services. But, the existing systems have some problems which have difficulties in dealing with faster services for above million people. In order to solve it, a multi-level DBMS which supports both fast data processing and large data management support should be used. The multi-level DBMS with snapshots has all the data existing in disk database and the data which are required to be processed for fast processing are managed in main memory database as snapshots. To optimize performance of this system for location based services, the query classification component which classifies the queries for efficient snapshot usage is needed. In this paper, the query classification component in multi-level DBMS for location based services is designed and implemented. The proposed component classifies queries into three types: (1) memory query, (2) disk query, (3) hybrid query, and increases the rate of snapshot usage. In addition, it applies division mechanisms which divide aspatial and spatial filter condition for partial snapshot usage. Hence, the proposed component enhances system performance by maximizing the usage of snapshot as a result of the efficient query classification.

  • With the recent steady development of IoT technology, it is widely used in medical systems and smart TV watches. 66% of software development is developed through language C, which is vulnerable to memory attacks, and acts as a threat to IoT devices using language C. A stack-smashing overflow attack inserts a value larger than the user-defined buffer size, overwriting the area where the return address is stored, preventing the program from operating normally. IoT devices with low memory capacity are vulnerable to stack smashing overflow attacks. In addition, if the existing vaccine program is applied as it is, the IoT device will not operate normally. In order to defend against stack smashing overflow attacks on IoT devices, we used canaries among several detection methods to set conditions with random values, checksum, and DSLR (random storage locations), respectively. Two canaries were placed within the buffer, one in front of the return address, which is the end of the buffer, and the other was stored in a random location in-buffer. This makes it difficult for an attacker to guess the location of a canary stored in a fixed location by storing the canary in a random location because it is easy for an attacker to predict its location. After executing the detection program, after a stack smashing overflow attack occurs, if each condition is satisfied, the program is terminated. The set conditions were combined to create a number of eight cases and tested. Through this, it was found that it is more efficient to use a detection method using DSLR than a detection method using multiple conditions for IoT devices.
