  • The most important two decision-makings which a retail store owner face require which place of the store should geographically be established and which stock should be properly placed on the shelves. The problem of geographic positioning is the decision-making for the store's positioning and stock arrangement within the retail store is the decision-making for the placement store. In order to determine the positioning, the expected area should be analyzed so that the analysis of commercial area can usually be implemented in accordance with retail marketing strategy and therefore the sized of the potential market for example each distric's clientele, competition and, a municipal community's regulations, could be evaluated. But I contend that with only the size of potential market does not give an adequate answer to the problem of a store's positioning. Through the estimation of commercial are in combination with feng-shui, the theory of divination based on topography, the store's position could be selected, taking a positive energy, Gi. This thesis is the starting point of these trials. In the long run, the actual analysis of the study should be continued in a more scientific, systematic, statistical way.

  • These days, the number of automated container terminals is increasing to encourage the productivity of the container terminal inside and outside of the country. So far, there have been a lot of researches on the operating one type of equipments in a container terminal. However, there is still room for further improvement as none of equipment works itself but cooperate each other to finish a job, which means synchronization among the equipments is necessary. Among lots of equipments in a terminal, this paper concerns with the operation of ATCs (Automated Transfer Crane) and YTs (Yard Truck). The purpose of this paper is to find the efficient heuristic methods for operating ATCs and YTs that can set up a schedule in a real time. Moreover, using simulation this paper shows the efficient stacking strategy to decide the location of containers to be put and the proper selection range of YTs.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish common indicators that constitute a "low-carbon green city" and determine their priorities from the perspective of Incheon Metropolitan City with a view to help develop its climate change strategy strategic city. Several major cities, domestic and overseas, were benchmarked to come up with preliminary indicators consisting of six areas, twenty two planning factors, and 74 indicators. In order to evaluate the validity and relevance of preliminary indicators, expert FGI (Focus Group Interview) was conducted that changed the numbers of final indicators to six areas, twenty two planning factors, and 82 indicators. Finally, AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) was conducted to assign relative importance (i.e. weights) to each indicator. Through the layering process of AHP, the upper category of "field" and lower category of "planning factors" were set up as policy prerequisites for constructing a low-carbon green city (6 fields, 22 planning factors). The AHP results for the first level (fields), green city space was ranked first, followed by energy and resource circulation, green traffic, ecological preservation, green logistics, and governance. Among all planning factors, land use, energy efficiency, traffic system improvement, location planning, securing of ecological area, efficiency of logistics, and cooperative organization showed the highest priorities.

  • Lymphangioma is a congenital malformation of the lymphatic system, commonly seen in the neck. Operation was the treatment of choice but it is difficult to resect the lymphangiomas completely. The aim of this study is to evaluate the result of intralesional injection of OK-432 as a treatment strategy of lymphangioma in children. Medical records of 51 cases of lymphangioma from March 1996 to February 2001 were reviewed retrospectively. Intralesional injection of 0.1mg OK-432 in 10ml normal saline was performed after the aspiration of as much fluid as possible. The location of the lesion was the face and neck in 26 patients, the chest wall in 14, the extremities in 9, and the abdominal wall in 2. The cystic type was present in 45 patients and the cavernous type in 6. Four postoperative recurrent cases were included. Fluid aspiration from the lesion was impossible in 5 patients. Development of fever after injection was observed in 27 patients and local inflammatory reaction was in 5 patients. There was no scar formation at injection sites. Complete shrinkage was observed in 20 patients, remarkable shrinkage in 23, slight shrinkage in 3, and no response in 5. Cystic type or aspiration-possible cases showed better outcome than cavernous type or aspiration-impossible cases. All of four recurrent cases after surgical excision showed at least remarkable shrinkage. These results indicate that intralesional injection of OK-432 is a safe and satisfactory treatment modality of lymphangiomas in children and might be considered as a treatment of choice, even in recurrent cases.

  • Seunglamdonoli was a traditional board game played during the Chosun Dynasty. In this article, I interpret its features as a board game and discuss the possibility of turning it into a mass market game like Milton Bradley's 'The Game of Life' in the U.S. Seunglamdonoli uses the dice to determine movements around a board shaped like Korea, teaching players about important geographic locations, and traditional characters in a game that relies on strategy as well as luck. With appropriate changes such as introducing a standardized game board or digitalization for use on computers, Seunglamdonoli has potential to again become a popular pastime as well as become tool for learning about Korean history, geography, and society. Furthermore it can be adapted as an educational game for any location with minimal changes.

  • This study attempts to identify a profile of the university library's overall organizational culture and to analyze the difference of the organizational culture according to library's characteristics(size, location, control and unit). A questionnaire that is based on the competing values framework is used to survey staff in university library. In conclusion, the highest score is in the internal process quadrant(39.92), toward consolidation and continuity, but emphasizing control aimed at stability. And the weakest in the overall culture profile is the open systems quadrant(13.27) which may indicate that external support and resource acquisition are not strong measures of effectiveness to the staff. Research on university library organizational culture using both qualitative and quantitative method needs to be further considered. Furthermore, the strategy in library organizational culture for library administrator to manage human resources efficiently needs to be developed.

  • The primary objective of this study was to employ Darden's store patronage model in order to investigate the role that shopping orientation and store attributes play in store patronage. The study sample consisted of 340 female university students residing in Seoul. The data was analyzed by using path analysis and factor analysis. The recreational shopping orientation played a greater role in influencing the importance of store attributes than did the convenience shopping orientation. Recreational shoppers want a variety of brands and convenience shoppers can be attracted by a convenient location and availability of parking. Six important store attributes(variety of products and price level, proximity, variety of trendy brands, store decor, sales promotion, sales personnel) have a differential influence on store patronage. Shopping orientation was a direct predictor of patronage behavior and mediated the relationship between shopping orientation and store attribute importance. The finding indicated that both the recreational shopping orientation and convenience shopping orientation can be used effectively to position store patronage in such a way as to provide a strong means for shoppers to satisfy their needs. The findings of this study demonstrated that South Korean female shoppers with different shopping orientation have different store attribute preference and store patronage. The results provide a basis for building a successful strategy to attract shoppers and generate sales. The study focused on a specific product category, i.e., women's apparel. To meet the needs of female apparel shoppers, further research is needed to learn more about the distinctive characteristics of Korean consumers that could be applied to a variety of jobs, ages and living areas.
