용량제약이 있는 설비의 위치선정 및 수요자 할당문제에 대한 최적화 모형 및 해법 (Optimization Models and Algorithm for the Capacitated Facility Location-Allocation Problem)

  • 본 논문에서는 용량제약이 있는 설비의 위치선정 및 수요자 할당 문제(Capacitated Facility Location-Allocation Problem)에 대한 정수계획 모형과 해법을 제시하였다. 이 문제는 설비를 설치할 수 있는 후보지의 집합과 각 후보지별로 설치 가능한 설비의 용량 및 설치비용, 수요를 만족시켜야 할 수요자의 집합 및 각 수요자와 설치 후보지 사이의 운반비용이 주어져 있을 때, 설비들의 설치비용과 수요의 운반비용의 합을 최소화하는 설비의 설치 위치 및 대수 그리고 수요자와 설비간의 연결상태를 구성하는 문제이다. 본 논문에서는 이 문제에 대한 두 가지 정수계획모형을 제시하고, 이 모형에 대한 최적해를 구하기 위한 다면체적 절단평면을 이용한 분지-절단해법(Branch-and-cut algorithm)과 열생성기법을 이용한 분지-평가해법(Branch-and-Price algorithm)을 제시하였다. 제시된 모형과 해법은 물류시스템의 설계 및 정보통신시스템의 통신설비 위치선정 등에 활용될 수 있다.

FTTH-PON 가입자망 설계에서 Splitter Location-Allocation 문제 (A Splitter Location-Allocation Problem in Designing FTTH-PON Access Networks)

  • In this paper, we deal with an access network design problem of fiber-to-the-home passive optical network (FTTH-PON). The FTTH-PON network design problem seeks to minimize the total cost of optical splitters and cables that provide optical connectivity between central office and subscribers. We develop a flow-based mixed integer programming (MIP) model with nonlinear link cost. By developing valid inequalities and preprocessing rules, we enhance the strength of the proposed MIP model in generating tight lower bounds for the problem. We develop an effective Tabu Search (TS) heuristic algorithm that provides good quality feasible solutions to the problem. Computational results demonstrate that the valid inequalities and preprocessing rules are effective for improving the LP-relaxation lower bound and TS algorithm finds good quality solutions within reasonable time bounds.

  • In this paper, we proposed new solution procedure of the air defense missile allocation problem. In order to find the optimal location of missile, we formulated a simple mathematical model maximizing the kill probability of enemy air threat including aircraft and missile. To find the Kill probability, we developed a new procedure using actual experimental data in the mathematical model. Actual experimental data mean real characteristic factor, which was acquired when the missile had been developed through missile fire experiment. The result of this study can offer practical solution for missile allocation and the methodology in this study can be used to the decision making for the optimal military facility allocation.

Capacitated Location and Allocation Models of Long-Term Care Facilities

  • People are living longer than ever before. As a result, life expectancy is going up and the demand of long-term care facilities is increasing in most countries. The facilities provide rehabilitative, restorative, and skilled nursing care to patients or residents in need of assistance with activities of daily living. This study deals with the capacitated location and allocation problem of long-term care facilities in a city that consists of a finite number of regions. Assuming that in each region candidate locations for three types of facilities are already given, two integer programming models are developed under the closest assignment rule reflecting the demand characteristics of the facilities. Both the location and type of the facilities to be built become decision variables. To show the validity of the models, numerical problems are solved with commercial software, CPLEX. Also, sensitivity studies were conducted to identify relationships between the system parameters.

  • In this paper, we deal with a hierarchical location-allocation problem in designing the broadband convergence networks (BcN). The objective is to minimize the total cost of switch and cable while satisfying the quality of service (QoS). We formulate the problem as an integer programming model and develop the Tabu Search (TS) heuristic algorithm to find a good feasible solution within a reasonable time limit. Initial solution is obtained by using the tree structure. Three neighborhood generation mechanisms are used by local search heuristic: insertion, switch up, and switch down. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, we generate lower bounds from nonlinear QoS relaxation problem. We present promising computational results of the proposed solution procedures.

  • This paper describes a study which was undertaken in Ulsan City. The modified SLP procedures consider the quantitative flow aspect of the facilities layout problem as well as the qualitative closeness rating aspect. Conclusions are drawn as to the effectiveness of the proposed model in providing Ulsan City with better means of making the facilities location allocation decision for Industrial Technology Research Park.

  • The cost and customer service level of a logistics system depend primarily on the system design of the physical supply system and physical distribution system. The study presents the mathematical model and a huristic solution method of a combined location - vehicle routing problem(LVRP). In LVRP the objective is to determine the number and location of the distribution centers, the allocation of customers to distribution centers, and the vehicle delivery routes, so as to minimize the logistics total cost and satisfy the customer.

  • The physical distribution service(PDS) is essential to evaluate the business logistics system. The PDS combines the inventory service with the lead time to deliver. This paper is presented to model Mixed Zero-One integer programming which is to determine distribution center location and to allocation products, considering delivery lead time, from given candidate locations to given customer markets. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the applicability of Mixed Zero-One integer programming for Distribution-Location problem.

  • This study is focussed on optimization problems which require allocating the restricted inventory to demand points and assignment of vehicles to routes in order to deliver goods for demand sites with optimal decision. This study investigated an integrated model using three step-by-step approach based on relationship that exists between the inventory allocation and vehicle routing with restricted amount of inventory and transportations. we developed several sub-models such as; first, an inventory-allocation model, second a vehicle-routing model based on clustering and a heuristic algorithms, and last a vehicle routing scheduling model, a TSP-solver, based on genetic algorithm. Also, for each sub-models we have developed computer programs and by a sample run it was known that the proposed model to be a very acceptable model for the inventory-allocation and vehicle routing problems.

이산적 입지 공간의 경쟁적 입지 문제를 해결하기 위한 GIS 기반 기하학적 방법론 연구 (A GIS-based Geometric Method for Solving the Competitive Location Problem in Discrete Space)

  • 일반적으로 이산적 입지 공간에서 경쟁적 입지 문제는 입지 후보지에 따라 수많은 조합의 경우가 발생하는 의사결정 문제이기 때문에, 수리적으로 계산하기가 쉽지 않다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 결정적 배분 형태를 가정한 이산적 입지 공간의 경쟁적 입지 문제를 보다 효율적으로 해결하기 위한 대안적 방법에 대해 논의한다. 제안된 방법론의 핵심은 입지 문제의 크기와 관련되는 잠재적 입지후보지의 개수를 기하학적 개념을 이용하여 줄이는 것이다. 사례 분석으로 경쟁이 가열화되고 있는 초고속 인터넷 시장을 대상으로 제안된 방법론을 적용하였는데 두 가지 다른 크기의 문제, 즉 연구 지역 전체에 대해 정의된 잠재적 입지 후보지와 GIS 기반의 기하학적 알고리즘에 의해 추출된 보다 적은 수의 잠재적 입지 후보지에 대해 계산 결과와 공간적 배열을 비교하였다. 사례 분석 결과, 두 문제 모두 고객 유치를 최대화시키는 동일한 최적 입지를 보여주는 한편, 적은 수의 잠재적 입지 후보지를 가진 경쟁적 입지 모델이 보다 효율적으로 해결될 수 있었다.
