A Study on the Types and Characteristics of Visitors' Behavior in a Science Museum - Focused on the Mutual Influence of Family Visitors - (과학관 관람행태의 유형과 특성에 관한 연구 - 가족 관람객 상호작용을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to classify types of family visitors' behaviors more concretely, which could be useful in planning of exhibition spaces in a science museum, with given priority to their behaviors according to interaction between them, and to understand characteristics of the behaviors. With this view, the scope of this study was restricted to subjects, who were family visitors of Gwacheon National Science Museum, consisting of parents and their one elementary school child per family unit. For understanding their behaviors, itinerary tracking and observation method of behavior were conducted. Moreover, for understanding substantial types and characteristics of family visitors' behaviors, multivariate analysis was applied. Accordingly, the results of the study are as follows. First, as a result of factor analysis, two main factors were derived. In other words, they were 'Durability of viewing' as the first and 'Interactivity between family members' as the second, which were shown valid in classification of the types of their behaviors. Second, according to the factors derived, the types of their behaviors were classified into in-depth cooperative viewing, selective independent viewing, interest concentration child-led viewing and consideration parent-led viewing. They were shown valid in topological localization and classification, as a result of analysis of the main factors. Third, in view of common characteristics of the types, it is judged that active orientation prior to regular viewing could encourage visitors coming to the museum for the first time to feel more friendly to unfamiliar exhibition environments, during the initial seek time, and to reduce visual supersaturation. Fourth, it is judged that distributed arrangement of exhibits, which result in continuous standby, could avoid confused visitor circulation by the estimated time required for viewing.

  • Interest to the RTLS that is one of RFID applications is increasing in recent. The RTLS(Real Time Locating Systems) is one of applications for locating and tracking using RFID tags which are attached to something like container, pallet, or all the things. This paper presents the design and the implementation of an RTLS system using 433MHz active RFID tags and use radio frequency to provide the scalability. Our system we developed using RFID platform takes into account an RTLS standard. Also, in this paper a routing protocol is included to data delivery to server via each reader. In order to perform the evaluation, in addition, some experiments in out door are performed and results such as error metric and distance are also included. Furthermore, simulation for the routing protocol we supposed is also included.

Calculation and Uncertainty Estimation of the Volume of Reverberation Chamber with Indeterminate Form (부정형 잔향실의 체적 산출과 체적 불착도 평가)

  • A reverberation chamber should be designed and constructed so as to satisfy its purposes and available space. However, it is somewhat difficult to meet the intended design requirements due to various errors from construction process. So, the post-construction measurement of its volume and surface areas is very essential to check the actual volume and volume uncertainty of a reverberation chamber These values should be carefully calculated and accurately estimated since they are used not only to evaluate the acoustic characteristics of building materials but also to calculate uncertainties for other acoustic characteristics. In this work, the method for the calculation and uncertainty estimation of the volume of a reverberation chamber is presented. To this end, the coordinates of all corners was measured with Total Station after construction. The results showed that the calculated volume of the measured reverberation chamber differs by 5 % from the design specification. The expanded volume uncertainty was also estimated to be about 2 % of the total calculated volume.

  • 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경에서 다양한 위치 기반 서비스(LBS)를 위해 객체 위치 인식은 필수적인 기술이다. 객체의 위치를 판별하기 위해서 GPS 시스템, 다수의 RF 신호 세기를 이용한 시스템이 이용되고 있다. GPS 시스템의 경우 고가의 수신기가 필요하며 실내 측위 환경에서 활용될 수 없으며, RF 신호를 이용한 위치 인식 시스템의 경우 빠른 신호 속도와 페이딩의 영향으로 충분한 신호의 해상도확보하기 어렵다. 하지만 상대적으로 느린 초음파를 이용한 경우 신호의 해상도가 높아 RF 기반 위치 측위 시스템보다 높은 정확도의 위치 인식이 가능하다. 초음파를 이용한 위치 인식 기술은 RF 통신을 통해 해당 초음파의 정보를 식별하고, 초음파와 RF 신호의 도달 시간의 차를 이용해 위치를 판별한다. 본 논문에서는 초음파 신호 부호화 기법을 통해 RF 통신 모듈 없이 다중 객체의 위치를 인식하는 시스템을 설계하고 구현한다.

Accurate Calibration of Kinematic Parameters for Two Wheel Differential Drive Robots by Considering the Coupled Effect of Error Sources (이륜차동구동형로봇의 복합오차를 고려한 기구학적 파라미터 정밀보정기법)

  • Odometry using wheel encoders is one of the fundamental techniques for the pose estimation of wheeled mobile robots. However, odometry has a drawback that the position errors are accumulated when the travel distance increases. Therefore, position errors are required to be reduced using appropriate calibration schemes. The UMBmark method is the one of the widely used calibration schemes for two wheel differential drive robots. In UMBmark method, it is assumed that odometry error sources are independent. However, there is coupled effect of odometry error sources. In this paper, a new calibration scheme by considering the coupled effect of error sources is proposed. We also propose the test track design for the proposed calibration scheme. The numerical simulation and experimental results show that the odometry accuracy can be improved by the proposed calibration scheme.

  • Due to the climate changing, the world's countries are tightening regulations on CO2 and air pollutants emission to solve them. In addition, eco friendly vehicles is increasing to replace automobiles in internal combustion engine. Recently, the government is supporting the expansion of hydrogen refueling infrastructure and localization of core equipment in refueling facilities according to the hydrogen economy road map. In this study, design of the Excess flow limiting device in FCEV cylinder valve using by finite element analysis and performed performance tests on prototype. Major test results as hydrostatic strength, continued operation, operation, pressure impulse, leakage showed that the excess flow limiting device meets the performance requirements according to ISO 12619-2 and ISO 12619-11.

Sound recognition and tracking system design using robust sound extraction section (주변 배경음에 강인한 구간 검출을 통한 음원 인식 및 위치 추적 시스템 설계)

  • This paper is on a system design of recognizing sound sources and tracing locations from detecting a section of sound sources which is strong in surrounding environmental sounds about sound sources occurring in an abnormal situation by using signals within the section. In detection of the section with strong sound sources, weighted average delta energy of a short section is calculated from audio signals received. After inputting it into a low-pass filter, through comparison of values of the output result, a section strong in background sound is defined. In recognition of sound sources, from data of the detected section, using an HMM(: Hidden Markov Model) as a traditional recognition method, learning and recognition are realized from creating information to recognize sound sources. About signals of sound sources that surrounding background sounds are included, by using energy of existing signals, after detecting the section, compared with the recognition through the HMM, a recognition rate of 3.94% increase is shown. Also, based on the recognition result, location grasping by using TDOA(: Time Delay of Arrival) between signals in the section accords with 97.44% of angles of a real occurrence location.

  • We consider design factors for a SQUID sensor array to construct a 52-channel magnetocardiogram (MCG) system that can be used to measure tangential components of the cardiac magnetic fields. Nowadays, full-size multichannel MCG systems, which cover the whole signal area of a heart, are developed to improve the clinical analysis with high accuracy and to provide patients with comfort in the course of measurement. To design the full-size MCG system, we have to make a compromise between cost and performance. The cost is involved with the number of sensors, the number of the electronics, the size of a cooling dewar, the consumption of refrigerants for maintenance, and etc. The performance is the capability of covering the whole heart volume at once and of localizing current sources with a small error. In this study, we design the cost-effective arrangement of sensors for MCG by considering an adequate sensor interval and the confidence region of a tolerable localization error, which covers the heart. In order to fit the detector array on the cylindrical dewar economically, we removed the detectors that were located at the corners of the array square. Through simulations using the confidence region method, we verified that our design of the detector array was good enough to obtain whole information from the heart at a time. A result of the simulation also suggested that tangential-component MCG measurement could localize deeper current dipoles than normal-component MCG measurement with the same confidence volume; therefore, we conclude that measurement of the tangential component is more suitable to an MCG system than measurement of the normal component.

A Study on Image Reconstruction for Seed Localization for Permanent Prostate Brachytherapy (전립선암 근접치료 시 방사성선원 위치확인을 위한 영상 재구성에 관한 연구)

  • [ $\underline{Purpose}$ ]: This study was to design and fabricate a phantom for prostate cancer brachytherapy to validate a developed program applying a 3-film technique, and to compare it with the conventional 2-film technique for determining the location of an implanted seed. $\underline{Materials\;and\;Methods}$: The images were obtained from overlapped seeds by randomly placing a maximum of 63 seeds in the anterior-posterior (AP) position and at $-30^{\circ} to $30^{\circ} at $15^{\circ} intervals. Images obtained by use of the phantom were applied to the image processing procedure, and were then processed into the development program for seed localization. In this study, cases were set where one seed overlapped, where two seeds overlapped and where none of the three views resolved all seeds. The distance between the centers of each seed to the reference seed was calculated in a prescribed region. This distance determined the location of each seed in a given band. The location of the overlapped seeds was compared with that of the 2-film technique. $\underline{Results}$: With this program, the detection rate was 92.2% (at ${\pm}15^{\circ}), 94.1% (at ${\pm}30^{\circ}) and 70.6% (compared to the use of the 2-film technique). The overlaps were caused by one or more than two seeds that overlapped; the developed program can identify the location of each seed perfectly. However, for the third case the program was not able to resolve the overlap of the seeds. $\underline{Conclusion}$: This program can be used to improve treatment outcome for the brachytherapy of prostate cancer by reducing the number of errors in the process of reconstructing the locations of perfectly overlapped seeds.
