  • This paper presents a foot movement tracking system using ultrasonic sensors and inertial sensors, where the position and velocity of foot are computed using inertial sensors and ultrasonic sensors mounted on a shoe. A foot movement can be estimated using an inertial navigation algorithm only; however, the error tends to increase due to biases of gyroscopes and accelerometers. To reduce the error, a localization system using ultrasonic sensors is additionally used. In the localization system using ultrasonic sensors, the position is continuously calculated in the absolute coordinate. An indirect Kalman filter is used to combine inertial sensors and ultrasonic sensors. Through experiments, it is shown that the proposed system can track a foot movement.

  • We describe a method for localizing a mobile robot in its working environment using a vision system and Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML). The robot identifies landmarks in the environment, using image processing and neural network pattern matching techniques, and then its performs self-positioning with a vision system based on a well-known localization algorithm. After the self-positioning procedure, the 2-D scene of the vision is overlaid with the VRML scene. This paper describes how to realize the self-positioning, and shows the overlap between the 2-D and VRML scenes. The method successfully defines a robot's path.

  • In the process of the acquisition, storage, transmission of signals, noises are generated by various causes and the degradation phenomenon by noises tends to generate serious errors for the signal with information. So, in order to analyze and remove these noises, studies on numerous mathematical methods such as the Fourier transform have been implemented. And recently there have been many ongoing wavelet-based denoising algorithms representing excellent characteristics in time-frequency localization and multiresolution analysis, but the method to remove additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and the impulse noise simultaneously was not given. So, to reconstruct the corrupted signal by noises, in this paper a novel wavelet-based denoising algorithm was proposed and using signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) this method was compared to conventional methods.

  • It is critical to estimate the location using only Long-Term Evolution (LTE) and Wi-Fi information gathered by the user's smartphone and deployable for emergency rescue, regardless of whether the Global Positioning System is received. In this research, we used a vehicle to gather LTE and Wi-Fi wireless signals over a large area for an extended period of time. After that, we used the learning technique to create a positioning database that included both collection and noncollection points. We presented a two-step positioning algorithm that utilizes coarse localization to discover a rough location in a wide area rapidly and fine localization to estimate a particular location based on the coarse position. We confirmed our technology utilizing different sorts of devices in four regional types that are generally encountered: dense urban, urban, suburban, and rural. Results presented that our algorithm can satisfactorily achieve the target accuracy necessary in emergency rescue circumstances.

  • When GPS signals are not available, a relative localization can be alternatively used to represent the topological relationship between mobile nodes. A relative location map of a network can be constructed by using the distance information between all the pairs of nodes in the network. If a network is large, a number of small local maps are individually constructed and are merged to obtain the whole map. However, this approach may result in a high computation and communication overhead. In this paper, we propose a reference-node selection scheme for relative localization map construction, which chooses a subset of nodes as a reference node that is supposed to construct local maps. The scheme is a greedy algorithm that iteratively chooses nodes with high degree as a reference node until the chosen local maps are successfully merged with a sufficient number of common nodes between nearby local maps. The simulation results indicate that the proposed scheme achieves higher localization accuracy with a reduced computational overhead.

  • With the advent of new technologies such as HSDPA, WiBro(Wireless Broadband) and personal devices, we can access various contents and services anytime and anywhere. A location based service(LBS) is essential for providing personalized services with individual location information in ubiquitous computing environment. In this paper, we propose mapping algorithm for error compensation of indoor localization system. Also we explain filter and indoor localization system. we have developed mapping algorithms composed of a map recognition method and a position compensation method. The map recognition method achieves physical space recognition and map element relation extraction. We improved the accuracy of position searching. In addition, we reduced position errors using a dynamic scale factor.

  • In order to apply a biped robot in real world, the robot requires a robust walking and a function of localization, path planning and navigation. Recently, localization and path planning using RFID of mobile robot has been studying. However, when the biped robot walks, it has unstability and tends to leave the path. In the paper we propose a method of walking stabilization using FSR(Force Sensing Resistor), Gyro and accelerometer for the real biped robot. Also a path tracking algorithm using RFID sensor attached in robot's foot is proposed based on localization of the robot. The proposed algorithm is verified from walking experiments using real biped robot on uneven terrain and path tracking experiments on the RFID environments.

  • Many localization schemes estimate the locations of radio nodes based on the physical locations of anchors and the connectivity from the anchors. Since they only consider the knowledge of the anchors without else other nodes, they are likely to have enormous error in location estimate unless the range information from the anchors is accurate or there are sufficiently many anchors. In this paper, we propose a novel localization algorithm with the location knowledge of anchors and even one-hop neighbors to localize unknown nodes in the uniform distance from all the one-hop neighbors without the range information. The node in the uniform distance to its all neighbors reduces the location error relative to the neighbors. It further alleviates the location error between its actual and estimated locations. We evaluate our algorithm through extensive simulations under a variety of node densities and anchor placement methods.

  • The sensor network that is component of the Internet of Things require a lot of research to select the best route to send information to the anchor node, to collect a number of environment and cost efficient for communication between the sensor life. On the sensor network in one of the components of IOT's environment, sensor nodes are an extension device with low power low capacity. For routing method for data transmission between the sensor nodes, the connection between the anchor and the node must be accurate with in adjacent areas relatively. Localization CA (Centroid Algorithm) is often used although an error frequently occurs. In this paper, we propose a range-free localization method between sensor nodes based on the Radical Line in order to solve this problem.
