Extraction of the coastal boundary is important because the boundary serves as a reference in the demarcation of maritime zones such as territorial sea, contiguous zone, and exclusive economic zone. Accurate nautical charts also depend on well established, accurate, consistent, and current coastline delineation. However, to identify the precise location of the coastal boundary is a difficult task due to tidal and wave motions. This paper presents an efficient way to extract coastlines by applying digital image processing techniques to Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery. Over the past few years, satellite-based SAR and high resolution airborne SAR images have become available, and SAR has been evaluated as a new mapping technology. Using remotely sensed data gives benefits in several aspects, especially SAR is largely unaffected by weather constraints, is operational at night time over a large area, and provides high contrast between water and land areas. Various image processing techniques including region growing, texture-based image segmentation, local entropy method, and refinement with image pyramid were implemented to extract the coastline in this study. Finally, the results were compared with existing coastline data derived from aerial photographs.
Molecular markers have become fundamental tools for crop genome study. The objective of this study was to construct a genetic linkage map for cowpea with PCR-based molecular markers. Five hundred and twenty random RAPD primers were screened for parental polymorphism. Ninety RAPD markers from sixty primers was segregated in 75 F2 mapping population derived from the cross of local cultivars GSC01 and GSC02. 70 RAPD markers were found to be genetically linked and formed 11 linkage groups. Linkage map spanned 474.1 cM across all 11 linkage groups. There are six linkage groups of 40 cM or more, and five smaller linkage groups range from 4.9 to 24.8 cM. The average linkage distance between pairs of markers among all linkage groups was 6.87 cM. The number of markers per linkage group ranged from 2 to 32. The longest group 1 spans 190.6 cM, while the length of shortest group 11 is 4.9 cM. This map is further needed to be saturated with the various markers such as RFLP, AFLP, SSR and more various populations and primers. In addition, morphological markers and biochemical markers should be united to construct a comprehensive linkage map.

Because of using the same rating ranges for every rock types the RMR or the Q-system could not usually consider local geological characteristics They also could not present sufficiently the engineering anisotropy of rocks. The canonical correlation analysis was carried out with 3 kinds of face mapping data obtained from granite, sedimentary rock and phyllite in order to clarify a discrepancy between rock types. According to analysis results, as a type of rocks changes, RM factors have different influences on the total rating of RMR.

Network virtualization provides an effective way to overcome the Internet ossification problem. As one of the main challenges in network virtualization, virtual network embedding refers to mapping multiple virtual networks onto a shared substrate network. However, existing heuristic embedding algorithms evaluate the embedding potential of the nodes simply by the product of different resource attributes, which would result in an unbalanced embedding. Furthermore, ignoring the hops of substrate paths that the virtual links would be mapped onto may restrict the ability of the substrate network to accept additional virtual network requests, and lead to low utilization rate of resource. In this paper, we introduce and extend five node attributes that quantify the embedding potential of the nodes from both the local and global views, and adopt the technique for order preference by similarity ideal solution (TOPSIS) to rank the nodes, aiming at balancing different node attributes to increase the utilization rate of resource. Moreover, we propose a novel two-stage virtual network embedding algorithm, which maps the virtual nodes onto the substrate nodes according to the node ranks, and adopts a shortest path-based algorithm to map the virtual links. Simulation results show that the new algorithm significantly increases the long-term average revenue, the long-term revenue to cost ratio and the acceptance ratio.
Information identification with image data by means of low-level visual features has evolved as a challenging research domain. Conventional text-based mapping of image data has been gradually replaced by content-based techniques of image identification. Feature extraction from image content plays a crucial role in facilitating content-based detection processes. In this paper, the authors have proposed four different techniques for multiview feature extraction from images. The efficiency of extracted feature vectors for content-based image classification and retrieval is evaluated by means of fusion-based and data standardization-based techniques. It is observed that the latter surpasses the former. The proposed methods outclass state-of-the-art techniques for content-based image identification and show an average increase in precision of 17.71% and 22.78% for classification and retrieval, respectively. Three public datasets - Wang; Oliva and Torralba (OT-Scene); and Corel - are used for verification purposes. The research findings are statistically validated by conducting a paired t-test.

Development of IT technology, in combination with the medical area, a number of developments have been made of the digital advanced medical devices, also increased interest in health, sharing of medical information has become increasingly necessary. Standardization for medical information sharing to satisfy these requirements have been studied. However, the medical information system is to build a system independent hospital itself, is difficult to share and exchange medical data with other medical institutions. In this paper, we provide a medical cloud system that can share medical information. Use DBaaS of cloud services. And is an international standard to have a HL7 share information by forming a meta-schema, each of the data transfer, the format of the document oriented data solves the heterogeneity between hospitals. Extracts the required field name of examination information, to exchange information with each of the local information and mapping. Health diagnostic information in the present study and diagnosis through accurate information sharing and exchange is possible ongoing management.

The cellular neural networks have the structure that consists of an array of the same cell which is a simple processing element, and each of the cells has local connectivity and space invariant template properties. So, it has a very suitable structure for the hardware implementation. But, it is impossible to have a one-to-one mapping between the CNN hardware processors and the pixels of the practical large image. In this paper, a $5{\times}5$ CNN hardware processor with pipeline input and output that can be applied to the time-multiplexing processing scheme, which processes the large image with a small CNN cell block, is designed. the operation of the implemented $5{\times}5$ CNN hardware processor is verified from the edge detection and the shadow detection experimentations.

M2M (Machine-to-Machine) Technology makes it possible to network all kinds of terminal devices and their corresponding enterprise applications. Therefore, several M2M platforms were developed in China in order to collect information from terminal devices dispersed all over the local places through 3G wireless network. However, when enterprise applications try to integrate with M2M platforms, they should be maintained and refactored to adapt the heterogeneous features and properties of M2M platforms. Moreover, syntactical and semantic unification for information sharing among applications and devices are still unsolved because of raw data transmission and the usage of distinguished business vocabularies. In this paper, we propose and develop an M2M Middleware to support agile application integration with M2M platform. This middleware imports the event engine and XML-based syntax to handle the syntactical unification, makes use of Ontology-based semantic mapping to solve the semantic unification and adopts WebService and ETL techniques to sustain multi-pattern interactive approach, in order to agilely make applications integrated with the M2M platform. Now, the M2M Middleware has been applied in the China Telecom M2M platform. The operation results show that applications will cost less time and workload when being integrated with M2M platform.
The currently operating NASA/GFZ Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) mission is designed to measure small mass changes over a large spatial scale, including the mapping of continental water storage changes and other geophysical signals in the form of monthly temporal gravity field. The European Space Agency's Gravity field and steady state Ocean Circulation Explorer (GOCE) space gravity gradiometer (SGG) mission is anticipated to determine the mean Earth gravity field with an unprecedented geoid accuracy of several cm (rms) with wavelength of 130km or longer. In this paper, we present a summary of present GRACE studies for the recovery of hydrological signals in the Amazon basin using alternative processing and filtering techniques, and local inversion to enhance the temporal and spatial resolutions by two-folds or better. Simulation studies for the potential GRACE detection of slow deformations due to Nazca-South America plate convergence and glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA) signals show that these signals are at present difficult to detect without long-term data averaging and further improvement of GRACE measurement accuracy.

The 2006 Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA) defines ecosystem services (ES) as "the benefits people obtain from ecosystems". Identifying where ES originates, whom it benefits and how it is changing over a period of time is critical in rapidly developing country like Nepal, where the risk of ES loss is high. In the context of various ecosystem services provided by watershed, this study, particularly deals with water yield, Soil loss and Carbon sequestration computation and evaluation in Bagmati Basin of Nepal. As Bagmati Basin incorporates capital city Kathmandu of nepal, land use change is significant over decades and mapping of ES is crucial for sustainable development of Basin in future. In this regard, the objectives of this study are 1) To compute the total and sub-watershed scale water yield of the basin, 2) Computation of soil loss and sediment retention in the basin, and 3) Computation of carbon sequestration in the basin. Integrated Valuation of Environmental Services and Tradeoffs (InVEST), a popular model for ecosystem service assessment based on Budyko hydrological method is used to compute Ecosystem services. The scenario of ES in two periods of time can be referenced for various approaches of prioritization and incorporation of their value into local and regional decision making for management of basin.
