In this paper, we propose an approach to detect the product label for mobile phone images based on saliency map and the local structure tensor. The object boundary information can be better described by the local structure tensor than other edge detectors, and the saliency map methods can find out the most salient area and shorten the computational time by reducing the size of the orignal image. Therefore, these two methods are considered for our product label detection. The experimental results show an acceptable performance based on our proposed approach.
Some industrial steel structures are composed by components linked by several welding joints to constitute an assembly. The main interest of assembly simulation is to evaluate the global distortion of welded structure. The general method, thermo-elasto-plastic analysis, leads to excessive model size and computation time. In this study, a simplified method called "Local and Global approach" was developed to break down this limit and to provide a accurate solution for distortion. Local and global approach is composed of 3 steps; 1) Local simulation of each welding joint on a dedicated mesh (usually very fine due to high thermal gradients), taking into account for the non linearity of the material properties and the moving heat source. 2) Transfer to the global model of the effects of the welding joints by projection of the plastic strain tensors. 3) Elastic simulation to determine final distortions in global model. The welding deformation test for mock-up structure was performed to verify this approach. The predicted welding distortion by this approach had a good agreement with experiment results.
Nuclei with the spin quantum number not smaller than unity have not only the nuclear magnetic moment but also the electric quadrupole moment. The quadrupole moment couples with the electric field gradient (EFG) to produce the nuclear quadrupole interaction. It is well known that two independent parameters, i.e. the quadrupole coupling constant (QCC) and the asymmetry parameter ($\eta$) together with the principal axis directions can fully describe the interaction and are very sensitive to the local symmetry and structure of the solid. In order to obtain quantitative estimates of the EFG tensor for various simple ionic configurations surrounding the nucleus under consideration, we employ the simple point charge approximation and apply the calculated results to some real crystals. General agreement is rather satisfactory.
In this paper, we propose a method to segment the bottle label in images taken by mobile phones using multi-gradient approaches. In order to segment the label region of interest-object, the saliency map method and Hough Transformation method are first applied to the original images to obtain the candidate region. The saliency map is used to detect the most salient area based on three kinds of features (color, orientation and illumination features). The Hough Transformation is a technique to isolated features of a particular shape within an image. Therefore, we utilize it to find the left and right border of the bottle. Next, we segment the label based on the gradient information obtained from the structure tensor method and edge method. The experimental results have shown that the proposed method is able to accurately segment the labels as the first step of product label recognition system.

With great advancement of the automobile functions, environmental factors become important performances, especially noise. This paper investigates noise sources of outer rotor type BLDC motor using in the air-conditioner of the automobiles. To this end, this paper is analyzed two viewpoints, structural and electromagnetic causes. Structural analysis is conducted through modal test and analysis. For modal analysis, 3D finite element analysis is carried out using commercial program ansys. Electromagnetic causes are analyzed from local force that is computed by Maxwell stress tensor method. Local force excites structure of motor directly. Finally, correlation analysis is performed to determine effect between noise causes.
The evaluation of pressure fields acting on slender structures under wind loads is currently performed in experimental aerodynamic tests. For wind-sensitive structures, in fact, the knowledge of global and local wind actions is crucial for design purpose. This paper considers a particular slender structure under wind excitation, representative of most common high-rise buildings, whose experimental wind field on in-scale model was measured in the CRIACIV boundary-layer wind tunnel (University of Florence) for several angles of attack of the wind. It is shown that an efficient reduced model to represent structural response can be obtained by coupling the classical structural modal projection with the so called blowing modes projection, obtained by decomposing the covariance or power spectral density (PSD) wind tensors. In particular, the elaboration of experimental data shows that the first few blowing modes can effectively represent the wind-field when eigenvectors of the PSD tensor are used, while a significantly larger number of blowing modes is required when the covariance wind tensor is used to decompose the wind field.
Given a Riemannian manifold (M, $\alpha$) with an almost Hermitian structure f and a non-vanishing covariant vector field b, consider the generalized Randers metric $L\;=\;{\alpha}+{\beta}$, where $\beta$ is a special singular Riemannian metric defined by b and f. This metric L is called an (a, b, f)-metric. We compute the inverse and the determinant of the fundamental tensor ($g_{ij}$) of an (a, b, f)-metric. Then we determine the maximal domain D of $TM{\backslash}O$ for an (a, b, f)-manifold where a y-local Finsler structure L is defined. And then we show that any (a, b, f)-manifold is quasi-C-reducible and find a condition under which an (a, b, f)-manifold is C-reducible.
In this paper, a blood vessel in an angiographic image, which plays an importance role in the diagnose diseases including in the eyes, brain and heart, is enhanced by using a directed diffusion technique. A fundamental component of the angiographic analysis is vessel segmentation that the proposed method provides a preprocessing of the image into a form suitable for human analysis, or more importantly, for machine analysis such the segmentation. Vessel enhancement is a challenging problem due to the complex nature of vascular trees and to imaging imperfections. Some parts of the inherent imperfections in angiography are the intensity inhomogeneity between the larger and smaller vessels, and another imperfection is the leakage of contrast agent into the background tissue that provides to low contrast between vessels and tissue. In the proposed scheme, the directed diffusion solves the problem by formulating a local geometric structure, which consists of direction and scale of the blood vessels. The diffusion process uses the local structure to enhance by a diffusivity tensor. The proposed algorithm can be applied to maintain sharpness and coherence-smooth the intra-regions into homogeneity better than traditional diffusion methods, which are Gaussian regulation and coherence enhancing diffusion.

In this paper, we present fusion methods for two different lofargrams. Since the conventional method synthesizes the lofargrams using frequency spectrum, it has limited performance in fusion of tonal signals which have two-dimensional information of the time-frequency domain. Proposed algorithm uses a two-dimensional directional bilateral filter for preprocessing and fuses two lofargrams based on comparison of local anisotropy of the lofargrams. After noise is suppressed and tonals are sharpened, the local anisotropy can be used as a criterion to divide tonals and noise. The experiment results using simulated data and real data showed that the proposed algorithms result in similar or lower noise level of the fused lofargram than conventional algorithms and decrease tonal omission in fusion process.
Atomistic origins of carbon solubility into silicates are essential to understand the effect of carbon on the properties of silicates and evolution of the Earth system through igneous and volcanic processes. Here, we investigate the atomic structure and NMR properties of dissolved carbon in enstatite using Raman spectroscopy and quantum chemical calculations. Raman spectrum for enstatite synthesized with 2.4. wt% of amorphous carbon at 1.5 GPa and $1,400^{\circ}C$ shows vibrational modes of enstatite, but does not show any vibrational modes of $CO_2$ or ${CO_3}^{2-}$. The result indicates low solubility of carbon into enstatite at a given pressure and temperature conditions. Because $^{13}C$ NMR chemical shift is sensitive to local atomic structure around carbon and we calculated $^{13}C$ NMR chemical shielding tensors for C substituted enstatite cluster as well as molecular $CO_2$ using quantum chemical calculations to give insights into $^{13}C$ NMR chemical shifts of carbon in enstatite. The result shows that $^{13}C$ NMR chemical shift of $CO_2$ is 125 ppm, consistent with previous studies. Calculated $^{13}C$ NMR chemical shift of C is ~254 ppm. The current calculation will alllow us to assign potential $^{13}C$ NMR spectra for the enstatite dissolved with carbon and thus may be useful in exploring the atomic environment of carbon.
