The structures of finite local rings of order ${\leq}$ 16 with nonzero Jacobson radical are investigated. The whole shape of non-commutative local rings of minimal order is completely determined up to isomorphism.

A data-adaptive order selection procedure is proposed for local polynomial nonparametric regression. For each given polynomial order, bias and variance are estimated and the adaptive polynomial order that has the smallest estimated mean squared error is selected locally at each location point. To estimate mean squared error, empirical bias estimate of Ruppert (1995) and local polynomial variance estimate of Ruppert, Wand, Wand, Holst and Hossjer (1995) are used. Since the proposed method does not require fitting polynomial model of order higher than the model order, it is simpler than the order selection method proposed by Fan and Gijbels (1995b).

This study was conducted in order to better understand the local and specialty foods of the Yeong-ju region. This study provides basic data for new menu development and commercialization. The results of 384 surveys, which were conducted to determine traditional rice cake production methods and their traits, were analyzed. Samgyetang was ranked top in the survey on recognition, public interest, and frequency of the local foods. Dakjuk was ranked second, followed by Baechujeon and Bopguk, in order. The levels of recognition and preference of specialty foods were in the order of hasuo, peach, apple, and meat. Among the answers in the survey on the popularization and commercialization of local foods, changing of the cooking style for younger generations' taste was considered to be the most important. Holding events to promote regional specialty foods and initiate the public to traditional cooking styles were listed sequentially by importance. The survey results show that promotion of local foods through education, and as well as incorporation of new ingredients are both highly effective ways to commercialize local foods for tourism. The results also indicate that taste, nutrition, and appearance of food should be considered in order to improve quality.

This paper provides a new application similar to the Local Defect Correction (LDC) technique to solve Poisson problem -u"(x) = f(x) with Dirichlet boundary conditions. The exact solution is supposed to have high activity in some region of the domain. LDC is combined with a fourth order compact scheme which is recently developed in Abbas (Num. Meth. Partial differential equations, 2013). Numerical tests illustrate the interest of this application.

In this paper, the slamming coefficients on local members of a jacket structure under plunging breaker are studied based on numerical simulations. A 3D numerical model is used to investigate breaking wave forces on the local members of the jacket structure. A wide range of breaking wave conditions is considered in order to get generalized slamming coefficients on the jacket structure. In order to make quantitative comparison between CFD model and experimental data, Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) is employed for obtaining net breaking wave forces from the measured response, and the filtered results are compared with the computed results in order to confirm the accuracy of the numerical model. Based on the validated results, the slamming coefficients on the local members (front and back vertical members, front and back inclined members, and side inclined members) are estimated. The distribution of the slamming coefficients on local members is also discussed.

Local polynomial regression is widely used because of good properties such as such as the adaptation to various types of designs, the absence of boundary effects and minimax efficiency Choi and Hall (1998) proposed an estimator of regression function using a convex combination idea. They showed that a convex combination of three local linear estimators produces an estimator which has the same order of bias as a local cubic smoother. In this paper we suggest another estimator of regression function based on a convex combination of five local constant estimates. It turned out that this estimator has the same order of bias as a local cubic smoother.

Local scour is associate with particular local types of vortex around bridge piers. This paper is method of protection local scour for the existing Busan City subway 3 Line bridge piers and Gupo large bridge piers. In order to take design of protection of local scour this bridge piers, We calculate the local scour hole of depth , scour width, riprap construction , filter construction by formulas. We had experimental hydraulic model test for this bridge piers in order to take proof for the calculation of local scour. We knew that the vortex intensifies the local flow velocities and acts to erode sediment from the scour hole and transport it downstream. As the result of hydraulic model test, we could suggest three types method of protection local scour this bridges. We knew that FHWA HEC-18(Richardson et al. 2001: Modified CSU) Formula is useful to checking calculation as application of field. One is pier protection using the sheet piles and riprap, the others are pier protection using the riprap with filter and to make renew Wall-caisson. The best method of protection for the existing Busan City subway 3 Line bridge piers and Gupo large bridge piers is pier protection using the sheet piles and riprap.

The problems of agriculture and food production in Korea are serious. These problems were brought about by the global food system. In this system, farmers and consumers are disconnected. The distance between food production on the farm to the consumer's table is too long. Farmers can not survive as their food dollar is steadily decreasing. Consumers have to eat old, unclean, and poor-quality foods because the foods do not come from nearby farms. They do not know where their food has come from or by whom their food was grown. In order to solve these problems, the transition from the global food system to a local food system is imperative. In a local food system, farmers and consumers are connected and they can help each other. This study identifies the consumers' role in the local food system. They are the purchasers of local food. They are active participants both in producing and distributing local food, and in taking part in the local food movement. Above all, they are the teachers of the younger generation consumers. While consumers in the global food system are passive, those in the local food system are active. We call the former "food illiterates" and the latter "food citizens." In order to revitalize the local food system, consumers must be food citizens, and therefore, consumer education is necessary. There are several interdependent media forms available for consumer education such as field trips, farm experiences, education for returning to the farm, and food education.

This paper presents a finite element procedure based on Bridging multi-scale method (BMM) in order to incorporate the effect of local/cross-sectional deformations (e.g., flange local buckling and web crippling) on the global behaviour of thin-walled members made of fibre-reinforced polymer composite laminates. This method allows the application of local shell elements in critical regions of an existing beam-type model. Therefore, it obviates the need for using computationally expensive shell elements in the whole domain of the structure, which is otherwise necessary to capture the effect of the localized behaviour. Consequently, highly accurate analysis results can be achieved with this method by using significantly smaller finite element model, compared to the existing methods. The proposed method can be used for composite polymer laminates with arbitrary fibre orientation directions in different layers of the material, and under various loading conditions. Comparison with full shell-type finite element analysis results are made in order to illustrate the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed technique.

The performance of face recognition methods using subspace projection is directly related to the characteristics of their basis images, especially in the cases of local distortion or partial occlusion. In order for a subspace projection method to be robust to local distortion and partial occlusion, the basis images generated by the method should exhibit a part-based local representation. We propose an effective part-based local representation method named locally salient ICA (LS-ICA) method for face recognition that is robust to local distortion and partial occlusion. The LS-ICA method only employs locally salient information from important facial parts in order to maximize the benefit of applying the idea of 'recognition by parts.' It creates part-based local basis images by imposing additional localization constraint in the process of computing ICA architecture I basis images. We have contrasted the LS-ICA method with other part-based representations such as LNMF (Localized Non-negative Matrix Factorization)and LFA (Local Feature Analysis). Experimental results show that the LS-ICA method performs better than PCA, ICA architecture I, ICA architecture II, LFA, and LNMF methods, especially in the cases of partial occlusions and local distortion
