통계적 패턴인식에 의한 유도가열 솥의 비파괴 불량 검사 방법 (A defect inspection method of the IH-JAR by statistical pattern recognition)

  • A die-casting junction method is usually used to manufacture the tub of an IH(induction heating) jar. If there is a very small air bubble in the junction area, the thermal conductivity is deteriorated and local overheat occurs. Such problem brings serious inferiority of the IH jar. In this paper, we propose a new method to detect such defect with simply measured thermal data. Thermal distribution of preheated tubs is obtained by scanning with infrared thermal sensors and analyzed with the statistic pattern recognition method. By defining the characteristic feature as the temperature difference between sensors and using ellipsoid function as decision boundary, a supervised learning method of genetic algorithm is proposed to obtain the required parpameters. After applying the proposed method to experiment, we have proved that the rate of recognition is high even for a small number of data set.

스퍼어기어의 열간단조와 냉간사이징의 유한요소해석 (FEM Analyses of Hot Forging and Cold Sizing of a Spur Gear)

  • Recently, precision forging techniques are applied to manufacture spur gears. Compared to conventional machining, they produce parts of better mechanical properties and less residual stresses with a much higher production rate. In the present investigation a rigid-plastic three dimensional finite element method was applied to analyze hot forging and cold sizing of a spur gear by closed dies. The involute curve of a tooth profile was approximated by a circle close to the curve. Results of the analyses make it possible to predict local strengths of the gear die failure and an appropriate preform for cold sizing. It was found that the preform for cold sizing. It was found that the preform for the cold sizing is the most important because it determines whether the gears especially teeth can be successfully formed.

East and West Meet in Africa: Effects on Clothing and Textile Businesses in Kenya's Liberalized Economy

  • Liberalization may be described as the opening up of the economy to the outside world by relaxing government trade and economic policy restrictions to allow imports. In Kenya, this took place in the early 1990s and it had negative and positive effects on businesses manufacturing and retailing clothing and textiles. This case study narrates what has happened over the last 20 years to businesses in Nairobi, Kenya dealing in clothing and textiles. Some of the original businesses have closed down and been replaced by new ones. More small scale Kenyan businesses have been started dealing in clothing imports from the East and West selling both new and second hand clothes. There has been increased employment in the small scale clothing and textiles sector in garment making and retailing. All in all, liberalization has forced large and medium scale textile manufacture to change strategy so that they target selling to the export market more than to the local market.

긴 관을 이용한 롱넥플랜지 성형공정 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Forming Process Development off Long-neck Flange Using a Long Pipe)

  • The pipe with a long-neck flange is widely used in power plants, chemical plants, and shipbuilding companies. New the pipe with a long-neck flange is manufactured by welding a thick flange to a pipe. But this long-neck flange pipe has some deflects in the welding region such as unfitting and local thermal fatigue, which weaken the strength around the neck of the flange. Moreover, after welding the flange, the contacting surfaces of the flange have to be machined flat. So, that is uneconomical. Therefore, to solve the above problems of the long-neck flange pipe, a new process, which has no defects around the flange neck, is required. In this study, three forming processes are suggested to get an enhanced long-neck flange. First suggested process consists of conical terming and flange forming. Second and third suggested processes consist of the bulging of a long pipe locally heated by induction coils and the flange forming. The differences between second and third suggestions are the thickness and local heating area of the pipe. That is, the thickness of the initial pipe of third suggestion is larger than that of the final product, and the local heating area is smaller than that of second suggestion. These three suggestions fur forming a long-neck flange are simulated by FE analyses with a commercial cede DEFORM 2D. Especially, the theoretical result of FE analysis on the first suggestion fur forming a long-neck flange is verified by the experiment with aluminum 6063 pipes. From the theoretical and experimental results, it is concluded that three suggested processes are very useful in order to manufacture the pipe with a long-neck flange without any deflects.

Present Status and Future Prospects of Power Tiller Industry in Orissa, India

  • Orissa is one of the major rice growing states of India. The state covers an area of 15.54 mha with 6.00mha cultivable holding is 1.46 ha. The power input is much below the national average of 0.87 hp/ha. Recently, the Government of Orissa has accorded equal status to Agriculture as given to the Industry with determination to increase the power input for agricultural production to2.54 hp/ha so as to obtain an average rice productivity of 3.0t/ha. Appropriate power units so as to be available with in the purchasing power of the small size farm owners in lieu of a pair of bullocks appear to be the right approach and is found to be in line with the highly successful Japanese and Korean model of small farm mechanization . The state needs 0.25m units of small tillers and tractors per year. The present population of tractors and power tillers in the state is about 11000nos. In India, two manufactures in collaboration with Japanese firms started manufacturing of power tiller sin 197 . The present production of power tillers in the country is about 1000 unit per year which is inadequate to meet the demands of all the stats. To meet the demands of the Orissa state, three Chinese model power tillers imported by local agencies are being supplied to the farmers during the past two years. Encouraged by the demand of power tillers in the state, three local manufacturing units located at Bhubanewar have come up with their own model of light weight power tillers(1.5 to 3.0 hp) during the past one year. These machine have been evaluated in the farms of the university and have been found to be promising . There is a target of supplying during 1996-97. The local manufacturers are in need of international collaboration for technical knowhow to manufacture these machine economically to meet the requirement of the farmers.

자유무역지역 제도비교를 통한 마산항 발전방향 (The development of Masan Port through comparison of Free Trade Zones)

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate CFZ(custom free zone) and FTZ(free trade zone) in Korean FTZ System and develop Masan Port in Korea Local Port. The main point of this discussion is to approach the efficient method ill developing Masan Port through comparison CFZ and FTZ. For this purpose, this paper is searched the present situation of logistics in Korea and Northeast Asia, also discussed the concept of FTZ in international status. Then CFZ accepted by Korean government started from the concept of FTZ and is the logistic-centered FTZ in the middle of three model, production-centerde model, production-logistic combination, and logistic-centered FTZ. But CFZ in centering logistic excepted the fundamental manufacture in Korean production. and is almost the same about other various sides, i. e. law and enforcement ordinance. etc This problem is decreasing the efficiency in Korean commercial system. Thus this paper indicate the view point and rightness of region economic through study of FTZ and CFZ in Masan Port. This paper says that FTZ is better then CFZ in Masan Port with comparing superior position about economic development direction, industrial structure, Foreign investment attraction, business fluctuation, national-local renovation. Therefore this paper concludes that the development of Masan Port needs the effort as follow : first, Masan Port must apply in enlarging FTA into Free Tree Area. Second, the government must develop the high-density and medium-small scale in Masan Port. Third, the local government must promote the amount of demand in Masan Port logistic. Forth, the government must actively propel great-sphere development in present Masan Port.

  • 스파이럴 강관은 기존 UOE 강관에 비해 경제적이며 연속적으로 강관 제작이 가능해 수송관뿐만 아니라 구조부재로 사용이 점차 확장되고 있다. 최근 제작기술의 발달로 스파이럴 강관의 고강도 및 대형화가 가능하게 됨에 따라 대규모 장거리 수송용 파이프라인에도 적용이 시도되고 있고, 이로 인해 스파이럴 강관의 구조적 건전성과 경제성 확보를 위한 변형률 기반 설계가 요구된다. 그러나 이를 뒷받침하기 위한 스파이럴 강관의 설계 기준 전반이 제시되지 않은 실정이고, 구조적 거동에 대한 명확한 규명이 이뤄지지 못하고 있다. 본 논문은 스파이럴 파이프의 조관 과정에서 발생되는 잔류응력이 스파이럴 파이프의 휨 거동에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 조관으로 인한 잔류응력 평가를 위해 조관 성형각, 두께, 강도를 달리하여 스파이럴 파이프의 유한요소해석을 수행하고, 해석결과를 파이프 휨 해석에 대한 초기 조건으로 반영하여 수치해석적으로 휨 거동 변화를 조사하였다.

  • 통신을 비롯한 각종 수요로 위성에 대한 수요가 급증하고 있는 가운데 미국, 러시아, 유럽, 일본, 중국 등 우주기술 분야 선진국에서는 대형 위성을 원하는 궤도에 올릴 수 있는 발사체 기술을 확보하고 있다. 대형 위성 발사체 추진기관 관련 기술은 장거리 미사일을 등 군사적인 목적으로 이용될 가능성과 첨단 기술 유출의 기피와 같은 문제점으로 기술 도입이 어려운 실정이다. 이를 위해 밸브 국산화 설계 및 시제품 제작을 통한 기술 축적은 추진기관시스템 밸브 국산화에 기여할 것이며 국내 밸브 설계 및 개발 수준 향상에 크게 기여할 것이다. 본 논문에서는 해외에서 개발된 밸브들과 국내에서 개발된 밸브들의 현황을 소개한다. 밸브 개발 기술은 KSLV-II 엔진시스템 및 추진기관의 안정적인 운용에 필요한 엔진 제어 시스템 구성에 기초가 될 것이다.

박판재 변형의 가열교정에서 가열면적의 영향 (Effects of Heating Conditions in the Straightening of Sheet Metal Distortion)

  • Use of sheet metal structure is increased in various fields such as automobile, aerospace and communication equipment industry. When this structure is welded, welding distortion is generated due to the non-uniformity of temperature distribution. Recently welding distortion becomes a matter of great importance in the structure manufacture industry because it deteriorates the product's quality by bringing about shape error. Accordingly many studies for solving the problems by controlling the welding distortion are being performed. However, it is difficult to remove all kinds of distortion by welding process, though various kinds of methods for reducing distortion are applied to production. Consequently, straightening process is operated if the high precision quality is requested after welding. The local heating method induces compression plastic deformation by thermal expansion in the heating stage and then leaves constriction of length direction in the cooling stage. Accordingly, in the case of sheet metal structure, straightening effect is expected by heating for the part of distortion. This study includes numerical analysis of straightening effect by the local heating method in distortion comes from production of welded sheet metal structure. Particularly straightening effect followed by dimensions of heating area is analyzed according to the numerical analysis. The numerical analysis is performed by constructing 3-dimensional finite element model for 0.4mm stainless steel-sheet metal. Results of this study confirm that straightening effect changes as heating area increases and the optimum value of heating area that proves the maximum straightening effect exists.
