의료용 초음파 영상 시스템에서 채널신호의 스펙트럼에서 거리 가중치를 이용한 부엽의 억제 (Suppression of side lobe using distance weight in spectrum of channel signal in medical ultrasound imaging system)

  • 의료용 초음파 영상 시스템에서, 영상점의 밖에서 오는 신호가 초음파 수신 집속 과정에서 완전히 제거되지 않으면 부엽을 발생시킨다. 부엽의 시간 신호가 영상점에서 오는 시간 신호(주엽)와 같이 중첩되어 나타나면 시간 영역에서 필터 처리를 이용하여 완전히 제거하기 어렵다. 그러나 수신 집속 과정에서 시간 -채널 신호를 푸리에 변환하면, 주엽과 부엽의 신호는 주파수 스펙트럼 영역에서 공간적으로 분리가 된다. 따라서 스펙트럼 영역에서 계산한 주엽과 부엽의 신호크기를 이용하여 크기 가중치를 계산하여 영상에 곱함으로써 부엽을 억제하였다. 그리고 주엽과 부엽의 스펙트럼이 인접할 때, 주엽과 부엽 스펙트럼 사이의 거리에 따라 거리 가중치를 적용하였다. 64 채널 선형 트랜스듀서를 사용하는 5 MHz의 초음파 영상 시스템에서 점확산 영상과 다른 밝기의 낭종을 가지는 스페클 영상을 합성하고 가중치를 적용하여 초음파 영상을 계산하였다. 점반사체 영상에서 해상도의 변화 없이 부엽이 크게 줄어들었으며 낭종 영상에서 대조도가 크게 개선됨을 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션으로 확인하였다.

  • A rare case of broncholithiasis was reported, and briefly reviewed. A 44 year-old woman, showing the symptoms of hemoptysis. frequent attacks of fever,coughing and roentgenologically typical middle lobe syndrome, was surgically treated with resection. The removed lung showed typical middle lobe syndrome by broncholithiasis.

  • In this study, a static and dynamic characteristics analysis system for machine tool spindle systems with 3 lobe sliding bearing is developed based on Timoshenko theory, finite element method and windows programming techniques. And the characteristics value of 3 lobe sliding bearing such as eccentricity ratio, attitude angle, friction coefficient , stiffness coefficients, damping coefficients and so on, are determined by using the thermal equilibrium conditions of spindle systems. Since the developed system has various analysis modules related to static deformation analysis, modal analysis, frequency responses analysis and so on, it can be utilized to perform systematically the design an devaluation process of spindle systems with 3 lobe sliding bearing under windows GUI environment.

  • As the mask design rules get smaller, the probability of the process failure becomes higher due to the narrow overlay margin between the contact and metal interconnect layers. To obtain the minimum process margin, a tabbing and cutting method is applied with the rule based optical proximity correction to the metal layer, so that the protection to bridge problems caused by the insufficient space margin between the metal layers can be accomplished. The side-lobe phenomenon from the attenuated phase shift mask with the tight design nile is analyzed through the aerial image simulation for test patterns with variation of the process parameters such as numerical aperture, transmission rate, and partial coherence. The corrected patterns are finally generated by the rules extracted from the side-lobe simulation.

  • In this paper, we propose the method that reduce the grating lobe in the ultrasound synthetic focusing images. synthetic focusing images have more larger and closer grating lobe than conventional phased array images and more lower signal to noise ratio. so, we represent the method that reduce the grating lobe by using multi element receive focusing. experimental results are showed that the proposed multi element receiving method reduce the grating lobe and increase the signal to noise ratio.

  • Redundant spurious loops and overlapping segments in stability lobe diagrams cannot be removed easily by regular methods. A programmatic approach is presented to detect multiple spurious loops occurring within the lobes. They are identified by reorganizing the numerical lobe data into speed-depth corners for subsequent removal. The same principle is then extended to remove overlapping segments of adjacent lobes to obtain a final continuous stability map. Unlike existing methods, the proposed methodology requires no interface with additional editing software, and can also yield stability lobe diagrams more quickly. The methodology is presented with lobe diagrams constructed using milling and turning models.

비쥬얼 롭을 사용한 다수표적 탐색의 수행도 예측 (Predicting Human Performance of Multiple-Target Search Using a Visual Lobe)

  • This study is concerned with predicting human search performance using a visual lobe. The most previous studies on human performance in visual search have been limited to a single-target search. This study extended the visual search research to multiple-target search including targets of different types as well as targets of same types. A model for predicting visual search performance was proposed and the model was validated by human search data. Additionally, this study found that human subjects always did not use a constant ratio of the whole visual lobe size for each type of targets in visual search process. The more conspicuous the target is, the more ratio of the whole visual lobe size human subjects use. The model that can predict human performance in multiple-target search may facilitate visual inspection plan in manufacturing.

Liver Lobe Torsion with Hemangiosarcoma in a Dog

  • A 12-year-old spayed, female Siberian Husky dog weighing 40 kg was referred for sudden collapse without a traumatic history. A splenic mass and hemoperitoneum were identified by ultrasonography and abdominocentesis at a local animal hospital. Emergency exploratory laparotomy was performed once the patient was stabilized. A splenic mass and engorged hepatic mass in the torsed left liver lobe were identified. Partial hepatic lobectomy of the left lateral lobe was performed using a laparoscopic linear self-cutting stapler and the spleen was also removed using an ultrasonic scalpel. Histopathologic examination revealed a diagnosis of splenic hemangiosarcoma with metastasis to the liver. Chemotherapy was not performed because the client did not give consent. The patient was checked regularly until death on POD 324. The metastatic nodules had spread to the lungs and other liver lobes and had gradually increased in size. Liver lobe torsion is a rare condition in dogs, especially accompanying neoplasia. This case supports a potential relationship between liver lobe torsion and neoplastic liver mass in dogs.

Anatomical variations and developmental anomalies of the thyroid gland in Ethiopian population: a cadaveric study

  • Because of its embryonic origin, the thyroid gland is predisposed to multiple anatomical variations and developmental anomalies. These include the pyramidal lobe, the origin of levator glandular thyroidae, the absence of the isthmus, ectopic thyroid, accessory thyroid tissues, etc. These anatomical variations are clinically significant to surgeons, anatomists, and researchers. The present study was designed to report anatomical variations and developmental anomalies of the thyroid gland in Ethiopian population. The study was conducted on 40 cadavers used for routine dissection classes. The thyroid gland was exposed and observed for any variations and developmental anomalies. The length, width, and thickness of the lobes were measured using a vernier caliper. Differences in the incidence of pyramidal lobe and absence of the isthmus between sexes were tested using a Pearson chi-square test. The mean length, width, and thickness of the right lobe were 4.24 cm, 1.8 cm, and 1.6 cm, respectively, whereas it was 4.08 cm, 1.8 cm, and 1.6 cm, respectively for that of the left lobe. The pyramidal lobe was noted in 52.5% of the cadavers. The levator glandulae thyroidae were prevalent in 40% of the cadavers. The isthmus mainly overlies the 2nd to 4th tracheal rings and was absent in 7.5% of the cadavers. Accessory thyroid tissue and double pyramidal lobes were noted in 2.5% of the cadavers. Most of the variations of the thyroid gland were seen frequently in female but it was not statically significant. Different clinically important and rare variations of the thyroid gland were found.

단원형배열안테나의 합차 모노펄스 주엽 식별 (Main-Lobe Recognition for Sum-Delta Monopulse of Single-Ring Circular Array Antenna)

  • The target must be located within the main-lobe of the antenna in order to measure the direction of the target by using sum-delta monopulse technique. The most common way if the target is located within the main-lobe is to compare the amplitude of the sum channel received signal with the delta channel received signal. However, in the case of the single-ring circular array antenna, it is difficult to apply the conventional method due to its structural limitation where antenna elements do not exist in the center of the array. In this paper, we proposed a novel method to identify whether a target is located within the main-lobe by appropriately adjusting the feeding amplitude of each element constituting the single-ring circular array antenna through the particle swarm optimization method. Simulation results showed that the proposed method can determine whether the target is located within the main-lobe of the single-ring circular array antenna.
