  • Objectives: This study was performed to evaluate patterns of failure time after insertion, failure rate according to loading time after insertion, and the patterns of failure after loading. Materials and Methods: A total of 331 mini-implants were classified into the non-failure group (NFG) and failure group (FG), which was divided into failed group before loading (FGB) and failed group after loading (FGA). Orthodontic force was applied to both the NFG and FGA. Failed mini-implants after insertion, ratio of FGA to NFG according to loading time after insertion, and failed mini-implants according to failed time after loading were analyzed. Results: Percentages of failed mini-implants after insertion were 15.79%, 36.84%, 12.28%, and 10.53% at 4, 8, 12, and 16 weeks, respectively. Mini-implant failure demonstrated a peak from 4 to 5 weeks after insertion. The failure rates according to loading time after insertion were 13.56%, 8.97%, 11.32%, and 5.00% at 4, 8, 12, and 16 weeks, respectively. Percentages of failed mini-implants after loading were 13.79%, 24.14%, 20.69%, and 6.9% at 4, 8, 12, and 16 weeks, respectively. Conclusion: Mini-implant stability is typically acquired 12 to 16 weeks after insertion, and immediate loading can cause failure of the mini-implant. Failure after loading was observed during the first 12 weeks.

  • In the analysis of metal forming problems, the explicit time integration finite element method, which does not have convergence problems, is frequently used. The present work is to assess the applicability of the explicit time integration finite element method to quasi-static metal forming problems. Compressing analyses of thin-walled tubes and solid cylinders are performed with different loading velocities. The computed buckled profiles of thin walled tubes are compared with the theoretical and experimental ones and it is found that at sufficiently low loading velocity, the explicit time integration finite element method accurately predict quasi-static buckled profiles. When loading volocity is increased, the computed buckled profiles of thin-walled tubes are very sensitive to loading velocity however the computed profiles of solid cylinders are less sensitive to loading velocity. In orther words, the geometrically self-constrained specimens like solid cylinders are less sensitive to loading velocity than the geometrically unconstrained specimens like thin-walled tubes. As a result, it is found that the geometrically self-constrained problems which include the greater part of metal forming problems can be efficiently analyzed with loading velocity control technique.

  • The hydraulic loading system real-time simulator using a PC and I/O interface board is developed to simulate the dynamic characteristics of hydraulic loading system in real time. The simulator receives the digital on-off control signals generated by the operator through the D/I channels, updates the state and output variables of the hydraulic loading system responding to the input signals and draw the moving pictuters of the lift cylinder, lift arm and loading box on the PC monitor in real time. Also, the operator can observe the displacement and pressure of cylinder, the rotatinal angle, reaction force, and safety factors of lift arm representing the operation of hydraulic loading system through the PC monitor in real time. The real-time simulator can be a very useful tool to design industrial dynamic systems and feel the goodness of the system operation since the operator can observe the moving pictures of the operating system in real time as he operates the real time simulator.

  • Nobody has yet been able to determine the optimal solution conclusively whether NP-complete problems are in fact solvable in polynomial time. Gu$\acute{e}$ret et al. tries to obtain the optimal solution using linear programming with $O(m^4)$ time complexity for barge loading problem a kind of bin packing problem that is classified as nondeterministic polynomial time (NP)-complete problem. On the other hand, this paper suggests the loading rule of profit priority rank algorithm with O(m log m) time complexity. This paper decides the profit priority rank firstly. Then, we obtain the initial loading result using the rule of loading the good has profit priority order. Finally, we balance the loading and capability of barge swap the goods of unloading in previously loading in case of under loading. As a result of experiments, this algorithm reduces the $O(m^4)$ of linear programming to O(m log m) time complexity for NP-complete barge loading problem.

  • Time-dependent stress-strain behaviour significantly influences the compressibility characteristics of the clayey soil. In this paper, a series of oedometer tests were conducted in two loading patterns and investigated the time-dependent compressibility characteristics of Indian Montmorillonite Clay, also known as black cotton soil (BC) soil, during loading-unloading stages. The experimental data are analyzed using a new non-linear function of the Elasto-Visco-Plastic Model considering Swelling behaviour (EVPS model). From the experimental result, it is found that BC soil exhibits significant time-dependent behaviour during creep compared to the swelling stage. Pore water entrance restriction due to consolidated overburden pressure and decrease in cation hydrations are responsible factors. Apart from it, particle sliding is also evident during creep. The time-dependent parameters like strain limit, creep coefficient and Cαe/Cc are observed to be significant during the loading stage than the swelling stage. The relationship between creep coefficients and applied stresses is found to be nonlinear. The creep coefficient increases significantly up to 630 kPa-760 kPa (during reloading), and beyond it, the creep coefficient decreases continuously. Several parameters like loading duration, the magnitude of applied stress, loading history, and loading path have also influenced secondary compressibility characteristics. The time-dependent compressibility characteristics of BC soil are presented and discussed in detail.

  • In this paper, we present a new way to derive the mean cycle time of the G/G/m failure prone queue when the loading of the system approaches to zero. The loading is the relative ratio of the arrival rate to the service rate multiplied by the number of servers. The system with low loading means the busy fraction of the system is low. The queueing system with low loading can be found in the semiconductor manufacturing process. Cluster tools in semiconductor manufacturing need a setup whenever the types of two successive lots are different. To setup a cluster tool, all wafers of preceding lot should be removed. Then, the waiting time of the next lot is zero excluding the setup time. This kind of situation can be regarded as the system with low loading. By employing absorbing Markov chain model and renewal theory, we propose a new way to derive the exact mean cycle time. In addition, using the proposed method, we present the cycle times of other types of queueing systems. For a queueing model with phase type service time distribution, we can obtain a two dimensional Markov chain model, which leads us to calculate the exact cycle time. The results also can be applied to a queueing model with batch arrivals. Our results can be employed to test the accuracy of existing or newly developed approximation methods. Furthermore, we provide intuitive interpretations to the results regarding the expected waiting time. The intuitive interpretations can be used to understand logically the characteristics of systems with low loading.

  • Real-Time Hybrid Testing (RTHT) requires the numerical substructure calculations to be completed within the defined integration time interval due to its real-time loading demands. For solving the problem, A Real-Time Hybrid Testing based on Restart-Loading Technology (RTHT-RLT) is proposed in this paper. In the proposed method, in case of the numerical substructure calculations cannot be completed within the defined integration time interval, the experimental substructure was returned back to the initial state statically. When the newest loading commands were calculated by the numerical substructure, the experimental substructure was restarted loading from the initial state to the newest loading commands so as to precisely disclosing the dynamic performance of the experimental substructure. Firstly, the methodology of the RTHT-RLT is proposed. Furthermore, the numerical simulations and experimental tests on one frame structure with a viscous damper are conducted for evaluating the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed RTHT-RLT. It is shown that the proposed RTHT-RLT innovatively renders the nonreal-time refined calculation of the numerical substructure feasible for the RTHT. The numerical and experimental results show that the proposed RTHT-RLT exhibits excellent performance in terms of stability and accuracy. The proposed RTHT-RLT may have broad application prospects for precisely investigating the dynamic behavior of large and complex engineering structures with specific experimental substructure where a restarting procedure does not affect the relevant hysteretic response.

  • Ensuring the safe arrival of delivery cargo at its intended destination is of utmost importance. Truck drivers play a crucial role in guaranteeing the secure delivery of cargo without any mishaps. However, there are various factors that may lead to delayed arrival of trucks at their destination, such as late departures or prolonged loading operations. The timely departure of cargo transportation is contingent upon several variables, including the driver's experience, cargo volume, and loading time. If the transportation commencement is delayed, it may increase the risk of accidents due to an elevated operating speed. Consequently, we conducted a study to investigate the correlation between cargo loading time, cargo volume, driving experience, and the likelihood of accidents. Our findings indicate that both cargo volume and driver experience can impact the likelihood of vehicle accidents. Furthermore, all factors can have an interactive effect on the occurrence of accidents. However, extending the loading time may mitigate the impact on the likelihood of accidents.

  • This paper surveys the physical properties of the multiwall carbon nanotube (MWNT) and polyurethane composite film for improvement of mechanical properties and electrical characteristics. The modification of MWNT was carried out by acid treatment with nitric and sulphuric acid mixed solution, and then followed by thermal treatment for enhancing MWNT dispersion with polyurethane. This modified MWNT was mixed with polyurethane by changing the loading content of MWNT and dispersion time under the dimethylformamide solution in the ultrasonic wave apparatus. Various physical characteristics of the modified PU/MWNT films were measured and analyzed in terms of the loading content and dispersion time. The maximum absorbance of the PU/MWNT films were observed with the 2wt% loading at dispersion times of 2 and 24 hour, respectively. The minimum electrical volume resistivity of PU/MWNT film was shown at the loading content of 0.5wt% or more irrespective of dispersion treating time. However the optimum condition was assumed to 2wt% loading at dispersion time of 2 hours by assessing the surface profile of the film using video microscope. The breaking stress and strain of the PU/MWNT film decreased with increasing loading content, but no change of physical properties was shown with increasing in dispersion time.

  • High temperature fatigue crack growth behavior of P92 and STS 316L steel were investigated under four load conditions using CT type specimens. Loading and unloading times for the low wave forms were combinations of 1 sec. and 50 sec., which were two symmetric wave forms and two unsymmetric wave forms. Their behaviors are characterized using ΔK parameter. In STS 316L, Crack growth rate generally increases as frequency decreases. However, sensitivity of the loading rate to crack growth rate was fecund to be far greater than that of the unloading time. It is because as loading time increases, creep occurs at crack tip causing the crack growth rate to increase. However creep does not occur at the crack tip even if the unloading time is increased. In P92 steel, crack growth rate showed same behavior as in STS 316L. But the increase in loading or unloading time made almost no difference in crack growth rate, suggesting that no significant creep occurs in P92 steel even though loading time increases. After conducting high temperature tensile tests and comparing high temperature fatigue crack growth rates under various wave forms, it was proved that P92 steel has not only good high temperature properties but also improved, better high temperature fatigue properties than STS 316L.
