It was clear from the former researches on reinforced concrete filled tubular steel (RCFT) structures that RCFT structures have different performance than concrete filled steel tubular (CFT) structures. However, despite of that, load-sharing ratio of RCFT is evaluating by the formula and range of CFT given by JSCE. Therefore, the aim of this investigation is to study the load-sharing ratio of RCFT columns subjected to axial compressive load by performing numerical simulations of RCFT columns with the nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA) program - ADINA. To achieve this goal, firstly proper material constitutive models for concrete, steel tube and reinforcement are proposed. Then axial compression tests of concrete, RC, CFT, and RCFT columns are carried out to verify proposed material constitutive models. Finally, by the plenty of numerical analysis with small-sized and big-sized columns, load-sharing ratio of RCFT columns was studied, the evaluation formulas and range were proposed, application of the formula was demonstrated, and following conclusions were drawn: The FEA model introduced in this paper can be applied to nonlinear analysis of RCFT columns with reliable results; the load-sharing ratio evaluation formula and range of CFT should not be applied to RCFT; The lower limit for the range of load-sharing ratio of RCFT can be smaller than that of CFT; the proposed formulas for load-sharing ratio of RCFT have practical mean in design of RCFT columns.
The load sharing ratio (${\alpha}_{pr}$) of piles is one of the most common problems in the preliminary design of piled raft foundations. A series of 3D numerical analysis are conducted so that special attentions are given to load sharing characteristics under varying conditions, such as pile configuration, pile diameter, pile length, raft thickness, and settlement level. Based on the 3D FE analysis, influencing factors on load sharing behavior of piled raft are investigated. As a result, it is shown that the load sharing ratio of piled raft decreases with increasing settlement level. The load sharing ratio is not only highly dependent on the system geometries of the foundation but also on the settlement level. Based on the results of parametric studies, the load sharing ratio is proposed as a function of the various influencing factors. In addition, the parametric analyses suggest that the load sharing ratios to minimize the differential settlement of piled raft are ranging from 15 to 48% for friction pile and from 15 to 54% for end-bearing pile. The recommendations can provide a basis for an optimum design that would be applicable to piled rafts taking into account the load sharing characteristics.

Start Ongoing next generation networks are expected to be deployed over current existing networks, in the form of overlayed heterogeneous networks, in particular, in hot spot areas. Therefore, it will be necessary to develop an interworking technique such as load balancing, to achieve increased overall resource utilization in the various heterogeneous networks. In this paper, we present a new load balancing mechanism termed 'soft' load balancing where the IP(Internet Protocol) traffic of a user is divided into sub-traffic, each of which flows into a different access network. The terminology of soft load balancing involves the use of both load sharing and handover techniques. Through a numerical analysis, we obtain an optimal LBR (Load Balancing Ratio) for determining the volume of traffic delivered to each network over an overlayed multi-cell environment. Using the optimal LBR, a more reliable channel transmission can be achieved by reducing the outage probability efficiently for a given user traffic.

The bearing capacity of the prebored pile has been studied by many researchers. However, The bearing capacity of the prebored pile has been studied by many researchers. However, comparative studies between design data and pile load test data on the load sharing ratio and the settlement were insignificant. Therefore, the design data and the static load test results were compared for the prebored open-end steel piles. In the compressive static pile load test, the load sharing ratios of the base resistance and the shaft resistance were 13%~40% and 60%~87%, respectively and the settlements were measured 2.2mm~4.7mm. In the current bearing capacity calculation formula, the base resistance was shared between 54% and 75%, and the shaft resistance was shared between 25% and 46% and the settlements were calculated about 19.8mm~23.6mm. The settlement in the current bearing capacity calculation formula was 321% to 776% (average : 445%) larger than the settlement in the result of load test. When the settlement were calculated using the load sharing ratio in the pile load tests, it was 137% to 525% larger than the test settlement, and it was as large as 204% on average. It was confirmed that an appropriate evaluation of the load sharing ratio had an important effect on the calculation of pile settlement.

In this study, the large scale model tests were executed to estimate the Load Sharing Ratio(LSR) of raft in a piled footing under various conditions. The conditions such as the subsoil type, pile length, pile spacing, array type and pile installation method etc. were varied in the pile loading tests about the free-standing group piles and a piled footing. As the results of this study, it was found that there were no differences of the load-settlement curves, along with the pile installation method and subsoil type. The piles supported most of the external load until a yielding load of the piled footing, but the raft supported a considerable load after a yielding load. And it was also found that the LSR didn't be affected by the pile installation method and the subsoil type. As the relative density of sands increased, the LSR decreased. As the pile spacing was wider and the pile length increased, there was a tendancy for the LSR to increase.
The design of Piled Raft foundations considering the load sharing between raft and piles provides a more economical solution than the conventional design approach based on bearing capacity of piles only. Generally, numerical methods are used to analyze the behavior of Piled Rafts due to its complexity and load sharing ratio is also estimated by numerical methods about some limited cases under specific load level and soil conditions. In this study, a method to estimate the load sharing between the raft and piles was developed which is based on load-settlement characteristics of foundation elements. Normalized load-settlement curves of the raft and pile groups were derived individually, and the relationship between load sharing ratio and foundation settlement was proposed by using these curves. For each load-settlement curves, hyperbolic type was adopted in order to describe the non-linear behavior of foundations. Centrifuge test results were compared with the results from proposed method, and the trends of variation of load sharing ratio with settlement presented from both were similar.
A hybrid finite element analysis was used to analyze the influence of ring gear rim thickness and spline number on the static properties of an epicyclic gear system with manufacturing errors. Both of these parameters affected the bearing force and critical stress. The effect of changes in the rim thickness on the load sharing between the gears depended on the type of manufacturing error. Ring flexibility improved the load sharing between planetary gears only in systems with planet tooth thickness or planet tangential errors; for other types of error, ring flexibility worsened the load sharing. To improve load sharing, rim thickness and spline number should be controlled within a specific range. The effect of the ring gear boundary condition was more apparent in a system with errors than in a normal system.
The utilization of buildings can be improved by extending them vertically. However, the added load of the extension might require building foundations to be underpinned; otherwise, the loads on the foundations might exceed their bearing capacity. In this study, a preloading method was presented aiming at transferring partial loads from existing piles to underpinning piles. A pneumatic-type model preloading device was developed and used to carry out centrifuge experiments to evaluate the load-displacement behavior of piles, the pile-soil interaction during preloading, and the additional loading caused by vertical extension. The results showed that the preloading devices effectively transfer load from existing piles to underpinning piles. In the additional loading test of group piles, the load-sharing ratio of a pile increased with its stiffness. The load-sharing ratio of a preloaded micropile was less than that of a non-preloaded micropile as a result of the reduction in axial stiffness caused by preloading before additional loading. Therefore, a slight reduction of the load-sharing capacity of an underpinning pile should be considered if the preloading method is applied. Further, two full scale preloading devices was developed. The devices preload underpinning piles and thereby produce reaction forces on a reaction frame to jack existing piles upward, thus transferring load from the existing piles to the underpinning piles. Specifically, screw-type and hydraulic-jack type devices were developed for the practical application of foundation underpinning during vertical extension, and their operability and load transfer effect verified via full-scale structural experiments.

The effect of the ring gear boundary condition was more apparent in a system with errors than in a normal system.
In this study, field measurements were investigated to analyze the load sharing ratio and behavior of piled raft foundation. The field measurements were performed for about 300 days from the start of construction. The geometry of the raft is $3.1m{\times}3.1m$, and the pre-cast and pre-bored pile is 23 m in length and 0.508 m in diameter. Based on the field measurements, the load-settlement relationship of the piled raft foundation was obtained, and the load sharing ratio of the pile was converged to 70% at ultimate loading condition. The load sharing ratio of the pile increased as the settlement increased, and this is because the surface friction of the weathered soil, which is at the lower ground, was significantly increased. Based on the results of the field measurements, load transfer curves were obtained and applied to a numerical analysis by using load transfer method.
