The load cell is a force sensor and a transducer that is used to convert a physical force into a electrical signal for weighing equipment. Most conventional load cells are widely used a metal foil strain gauge for sensing element when force being applied spring element in order to converts the deformation to electrical signals. The sensitivity of a load cell is limited by its low gauge factor, hysteresis and creep. But silicon-based sensors perform with higher reliability. This paper presents the basic design and development of the silicon type load cell with an SUS630 diaphragm. The load cell consists of two parts the silicon strain gauge and the SUS630 structure with diaphragm. Structure analysis of load cell was researched by theory to optimize the load cell diaphragm design and to determine the position of peizoresistors on a silicon strain gauge. The piezo-resistors are integrated in the four points of silicon strain gauge processed by ion implantation. The thickness of the silicon strain gauge was polished by CMP under 100 ${\mu}M$. The 10 mm diameter SUS630 diaphragm was designed for loads up to 10 kg with 300 ${\mu}M$ of diaphragm thickness. The load cell was successfully tested, the variation of ${\Delta}$R(%) of four points on the silicon strain gauge is good linearity properties and sensitivity.
Crowbar system is usually applied to a pulsed power system in which a capacitor bank is discharged into a load. This provides a free wheeling path for the load current and prevents the capacitor from recharging due to a reverse voltage. Usually diodes have been used as a crowbar switch, but it is not a practical system because the cost of the diodes goes up enormously with increasing the system voltage and current. This paper presents a novel protection scheme of a charging and discharging system of a 300 kJ capacitor bank using a low-cost crowbar system which consists of a crowbar switch and resistors. Triggered vacuum switch(TVS) was used for a crowbar switch, and Rogowski coil was used to determine a trigger time of TVS. When this crowbar system is applied to our pulsed power system which consists of capacitor bank($123muF$), inductor() for forming a pulse, load resistor$(100 m\Omega)$, and a closing switch, instantaneous reversal voltage of capacitor bank could be limited less than 1.8 ㎸ until capacitor bank was charred to 17 ㎸.

Self-excited induction generators (SEIG) are gaining importance as compared to conventional generators due to their capability toconvert wind energy into electrical energy for a wide range of variation in operating speed. The performance of such a generator depends upon the load, rotor speed and excitation capacitance. Therefore, depending upon the operating conditions, the output voltage and frequency of this machine goes on changing and this imposes a restriction on its usage. In order to maintain constant voltage and frequency, it need controllers, which make the circuit complicated and also increases the overall cost of power generation. This paper presents a simple controller to regulate the output voltage and frequency of SEIG for variation in its operating conditions due to any change in load, rotor speed and excitation capacitance (R, N, C) and their combination. The controller presented is simple in design, user friendly and is also less expensive, as the elements used in the controller are only resistors, inductors and capacitors. A block of SEIG for steady state operation is also modeled and presented in this paper. SEIG, Controller and other components are modeled and simulated using Matlab/Simulink.
Uniform current distribution among conductor layers in HTS cables using IPTs (inter-phase transformers) was investigated. Conventional methods for current distribution, in which resistors are inserted to conductor layers, causes additional loss. In contrast, IPTs, which use magnetic coupling, make it possible that the current in parallel circuits is distributed uniformly with any load, and minimize the loss. In this study, IPTs were designed and fabricated for examination of uniform current distribution in the conductor layers of HTS cables. The ITP was designed through calculation of its impedance that can cancel the inductance of the conduction layers. The experimental setup consisted of four IPTs and four inductors that simulate the conductor layer inductance. Each layer was designed to feed 10 A. We examined the behavior of current distribution with IPTs for various layer inductances.
The regenerating energy of the servo system is mostly consumed as heats through the regenerating resistors. For the response of the servo system to be more improved, the paper proposes the boost inverter using the regenerating energy, The proposed boost inverter has the additional capacitor installed on the DC-link circuit for charging the regenerating energy from the load. To get the better response of the servo system, the charged regenerating energy can be shortly re-applied to the output side as the finite impulse voltage, which can be controlled from information of reference voltages and feedbacked currents. It is verified by PSIM simulator that the response characteristics of the servo system using the proposed boost inventer is improved, comparing to that using the general inverter.

This paper proposes an optimal damping control algorithm of the DTI (Direct Two-level Inverter) to miniaturize and reduce the weight of auxiliary power supply for railway vehicles. The conventional auxiliary power supply for railway vehicles uses a DC-DC converter to maintain the inverter input power from the line voltage smoothly. The proposed topology does not use a DC-DC converter for reducing of manufacturing and maintenance costs. It also proposes a DTI topology removed damping resistors that generate ground signal noise in a certain period. At this time, a resonance phenomenon of DC-link voltage occurs due to variation of the inductive load, and a method of controlling the resonance phenomenon of DC-link voltage is required. In order to suppress the resonance phenomenon of the DC-link voltage, at a point before resonance occurs, this paper introduces an algorithm to suppress the resonance phenomenon of DC-link voltage by compensating the resonance component of the q axis voltage of the synchronous reference frame. The proposed algorithm verifies the effect through simulation and experiment.
Nowadays, the IoT portable electronic devices have become more useful and diverse, so they require various supply voltage levels to operate. This paper presents a DC-DC buck converter with pulse width modulation (PWM) for portable electronic devices. The proposed step-down DC-DC converter consists of passive elements such as capacitors, inductors, and resistors and an integrated chip (IC) for signal control to reduce power consumption and improves ripple voltage with the resolution. The proposed DC-DC converter is simulated and analyzed in PSPICE circuit design platform, and implemented on the prototype PCB board with a Texas Instruments LM5165 IC. The proposed buck converter is showed 92.6% of peak efficiency including a load current range of 4-10 mA, 3.29 mV of the voltage ripple at 5 V output voltage for the supply voltage 12 V. Measured and Simulated power efficiency are made good agreement with each other.
