  • The fatigue damages in structural details of offshore plants can be accumulated due to various environmental loadings such as swell, wave, wind and current. It is known that load histories acting on mooring and riser systems show stationary and ergodic bimodal wide-banded process. This paper provides refined approach to obtain time signals representing stress range histories from wide-banded bimodal spectrum which consists of ideally narrow-banded and fully separated two spectrums. Variations of the probabilistic characteristics for time signals according to frequency and sampling time increments are compared with the reference data to be the probabilistic characteristics such as zero-crossing period, peak period, and irregularity factor obtained from an assumed ideal spectrum. It is proved that the sampling time increment more affects on the probabilistic characteristics than frequency increment. The fatigue damages according to the frequency and sampling time increments are also compared with the ones with minimum increment condition which are thought to be exact fatigue damage. It is concluded that the maximum sampling time increment to obtain reliable time signals should be determined that ratio of applied maximum sampling time increment and minimum period is less than approximately 0.08.

  • This paper describes a new test rig for identification of rotordynamic force coefficients of squeeze film dampers (SFDs) in automotive turbochargers (TCs). Prior studies have mainly concentrated on relatively large-sized SFDs used in aircraft engines, turbocompressors, and turbopumps. The main objective of the current study is to propose a test rig for identification of dynamic force coefficients of small-sized SFDs (a journal diameter of ~11 mm). The current test rig consists of a journal, a SFD cartridge, four support rods, an upper structure, a data acquisition (DAQ) system, and an oil circulation unit. The annular gaps between the journal outer surface and SFD cartridge inner surface create SFD film lands. The damper has two parallel film lands separated by a central groove, having an axial length and depth of 3 mm. Each film land has a length of 4 mm with a $40{\mu}m$ radial clearance. The static load and dynamic impact tests identify the structural characteristics (i.e., stiffness and natural frequency) of the journal and assembled test rig. The measurements show good agreement with predictions. The SFD performance data from this test rig will be used to develop innovative TC rotor systems with improved NVH and reliability characteristics incorporating advanced SFD technology.

Wireless operational modal analysis of a multi-span prestressed concrete bridge for structural identification

  • Low-power radio frequency (RF) chip transceiver technology and the associated structural health monitoring platforms have matured recently to enable high-rate, lossless transmission of measurement data across large-scale sensor networks. The intrinsic value of these advanced capabilities is the allowance for high-quality, rapid operational modal analysis of in-service structures using distributed accelerometers to experimentally characterize the dynamic response. From the analysis afforded through these dynamic data sets, structural identification techniques can then be utilized to develop a well calibrated finite element (FE) model of the structure for baseline development, extended analytical structural evaluation, and load response assessment. This paper presents a case study in which operational modal analysis is performed on a three-span prestressed reinforced concrete bridge using a wireless sensor network. The low-power wireless platform deployed supported a high-rate, lossless transmission protocol enabling real-time remote acquisition of the vibration response as recorded by twenty-nine accelerometers at a 256 Sps sampling rate. Several instrumentation layouts were utilized to assess the global multi-span response using a stationary sensor array as well as the spatially refined response of a single span using roving sensors and reference-based techniques. Subsequent structural identification using FE modeling and iterative updating through comparison with the experimental analysis is then documented to demonstrate the inherent value in dynamic response measurement across structural systems using high-rate wireless sensor networks.

다양한 진동하중의 액상화 시험을 통한 동적 과잉간극수압에 대한 상세분석 (Detailed Investigation on the Dynamic Excess Pore Water Pressure through Liquefaction Tests using Various Dynamic Loadings)

  • 지진시 발생하는 지반 액상화 현상은 지진피해예측시 가장 중용하게 평가해야 하는 항목으로 실내에서 액상화 현상을 시뮬레이션하는 경우, 불규칙성의 지진을 제어하기 어려운 이유로 등가반복형태의 정현파 또는 쐐기파를 이용하는 것이 통상적이었다. 그러나, 90년대 이후 컴퓨터의 발달과 함께한 신호처리 및 제어기술의 급속한 발전은 동역학분야에서의 실험연구에 큰 도움을 주었으며 지반진동분야의 경우, 진동대 및 원심모형기와 같은 대형지진모의시험에서 실지진하중을 이용한 연구사례들이 증가되고 있는 실정이다. 국내에서도 실지진하중재하가 가능한 요소시험결과에 대한 연구사례가 발표되는 등 이에 관한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있으며 특히, 실지진하중 시험결과로부터 실지진하중하에서의 과잉간극수압의 변화가 정현하중시험에서의 결과와 큰 차이를 보이고 있다는 분석결과가 발표되어 현재까지 지반동역학분야에서 지진하중의 불규칙성을 크게 고려하지 않았던 통상적 가정사항들이 문제점으로 대두되어 관심을 집중시키고 있다. 본 연구에서는 등가의 정현파 및 쐐기파와 증가형태의 쐐기파, 그리고 실지진파 등 다양한 진동하중을 재하할 수 있는 삼축압축시험기를 이용하여 기존의 유효응력개념에서 사용하는 과잉간극수압관련 매개변수인 소성일, 전단소성 변형률 상각궤도, 그리고 액상화 상태전환선의 기울기를 비교분석하였으며 하중변화에 따른 토립자의 변형과 간극수압의 변화를 상세분석하였다. 연구결과, 토립자의 변형, 간극수의 동적흐름, 동적흐름 속도수두의 압력수두로의 전환, 그리고 과잉간극수압의 증가로 표현되는 새로운 개념의 액상화 발생이론을 제안하였으며 그 타당성 검토를 위해 과잉간극수압과 동적흐름의 압력수두(흐름속도의 제곱값)와의 상관관계를 비교하였다.

Speed-Power Performance Analysis of an Existing 8,600 TEU Container Ship using SPA(Ship Performance Analysis) Program and Discussion on Wind-Resistance Coefficients

  • This study discusses data collection, calculation of wind and wave-induced resistance, and speed-power analysis of an 8,600 TEU container ship. Data acquisition system of the ship operator was improved to obtain the data necessary for the analysis, which was accomplished using SPA (Ship Performance Analysis, Park et al., 2019) in conformation with ISO15016:2015. From a previous operation profile of the container, the standard operating conditions of mean draft were 12.5 m and 13.6 m, which were defined with the mean stowage configuration of each condition. Model tests, including the load-variation test, were conducted to validate new ship performance and for the speed-power analysis. The major part of the added resistance of container ship is due to the wind. To check the reliability of wind-resistance calculation results, the resistance coefficients, added resistance, and speed-power analysis results using the Fujiwara regression formula (ISO15016:2015) and Computational fluid dynamics (Ryu et al., 2016; Jeon et al., 2017) analysis were compared. Wind speed and direction measured using an anemometer were used for wind-resistance calculation and the wave resistance was calculated using the wave-height and direction-data from weather information. Also, measured water temperature was used to calculate the increase in resistance owing to the deviation in water density. As a result, the SPA analysis using measured data and weather information was proved to be valid and able to identify the ship's resistance propulsion performance. Even with little difference in the air-resistance coefficient value, both methods provide sufficient accuracy for speed-power analysis. The differences were unnoticeable when the speed-power analysis results using each method were compared. Also, speed-power analysis results of the 8,600 TEU container ship in two draft conditions show acceptable trends when compared with the model test results and are also able to show power increase owing to hull fouling and aging. Thus, results of speed-power analysis of the existing 8,600 TEU container ship using the SPA program appropriately exhibit the characteristics of speed-power performance in deal conditions.

Development of a Point Tracking System for Measuring Structural Deformations Using Commercial Video Cameras

  • This paper deals with the creation of a new, low-cost point/position tracking system that can measure deformations in engineering structures with simple commercially widespread cameras. Though point tracking systems do exist today, such as Stereo Pattern Recognition (SPR) and Projection Moir$\acute{e}$ Interferometry (PMI) systems, they are far too costly to use to analyze small, simple structures because complex optical components such as large flashes, high-resolution cameras and data acquisition systems with several computers are required. We developed a point tracking system using commercial cameras. This system used IR LEDs and commercial IR CCD cameras to minimize the interference posed by other extraneous light sources. The main algorithm used for this system is an optical point tracking algorithm, which is composed of the point extraction algorithm and the point matching algorithm for 3-D motion estimation. a series of verification tests were performed. Then, the developed point tracking system was applied to measure deformations of an acrylic plate under a mechanical load. The measured deformations of the acrylic plate matched well with the numerical analysis results. The results indicate that the developed point tracking system is reliable enough to measure continuous deformed shapes of various engineering structures.

트랙터 부착형 옥수수 수확기의 구조 안정성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Structural Safety of the Corn Harvester attached to a Tractor)

  • In South Korea, agricultural mechanization has been carried out in paddy field, but not in the upland field during recent decades. Among crops such as root vegetables, leafy vegetables from upland field, corn is used as forage for livestock as well as food for men. The corn harvester needs to be developed to replace men's labor in rural area to follow the recent needs in the farm industry. The corn harvester is comprised of three parts such as cutting part, feeding part and pick-up part. The feeding part is so long for cut corns to be delivered from the cutting part to the pick-up part. Structurally, the load from the long moment arm is likely to be big. Thus, the setup to measure the stress on the duct of the feeding part was configured with the data acquisition system. The strain gages were attached on several points that seem to be loaded a lot comparatively. The stress was measured and the measured stresses were divided by the yield stress to get the safety factor. And then, we made sure the safety factors were above 1 on the all points. In conclusion, the feeding part of the corn harvester which convey the cut corn from the cutting part from the pick-up part can be regarded to be made safe structurally.

  • 전력계통에서 해석 하는 방법종류로 정적해석과 동적해석 그리고 온라인 해석과 오프라인 해석으로 나뉜다. 기존의 계통 해석하는 방법으로는 오프라인 정적해석을 이용하며 PSS/E에서도 정적해석을 주로 사용한다. 하지만 우리가 사용하고 있는 실제 계통에서는 실시간으로 값이 변한다. 정확한 해석을 하기 위해 실시간으로 해석이 가능한 온라인 해석과 동적해석이 요구되며 이에 따라 EMS(Energy Management System)에 대한 중요도가 높아지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 EMS시스템 중에서도 실시간으로 취득 점으로부터 데이터를 받아와 해석 할 수 있는 정적 온라인 해석인 상태추정을 다룰 것이다. 오늘날 DC부하, DC배전망, 신재생에너지 등 다양한 분야에서 DC계통이 확산되고 있다. 이처럼 DC계통에 많은 관심과 이목이 집중되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 DC계통에 접목시킬 수 있는 상태추정에 대한 해석과 사례연구를 통한 사용가능성에 대해 연구하였다.

  • SCADA 시스템은 국내 산업분야 전반에서 원격 감시 제어를 위해 이용되고 있는 만큼 제어시스템의 보안인증을 올바르게 확립해야 할 필요가 점차 커지고 있다. ISASecure에서 진행하는 EDSA-CRT 테스트는 장치가 정상적인 환경과 비정상적인 네트워크 프로토콜 트래픽 환경에서 핵심 서비스를 적절하게 제공할 수 있는지에 초점이 맞춰져 있기는 하지만 IP, ARP, TCP등 IP 기반 프로토콜을 대상으로 진행하고 있고, 제어 프로토콜에 적용한 테스트 연구는 전무하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 제어 프로토콜 중 가장 널리 사용되는 DNP3 프로토콜에 대해 EDSA-CRT를 적용하여 테스트 요구사항을 도출하고자 한다. 이에 우리는 DNP3 프로토콜에 대한 33개의 테스트 케이스를 제시한다.

소형 로터 블레이드의 제자리 비행 성능 시험장치 개발 및 검증 (Development and Verification of Small-Scale Rotor Hover Performance Test-stand)

  • 본 논문은 동축반전 로터 블레이드의 성능 특성 파악을 위한 선행연구로서, 단일 로터 블레이드에 대한 공력 데이터 획득 및 성능 특성을 확인하기 위한 연구에 중점을 두었다. 이를 위해 제자리 비행 상태에서 추력과 토크의 측정이 가능한 소형 로터 블레이드용 회전 시험장치를 구성하고 제작하였다. 로터 회전 시험장치는 회전장치부, 센서부, 그리고 데이터 획득 시스템으로 구성되었으며, 고정된 회전속도에서 콜렉티브 피치각을 변화시키면서 추력과 토크를 측정할 수 있도록 하였다. 이를 통하여 저 레이놀즈 수 ($Re{\approx}3{\times}10^5$) 영역에서 운용되는 단일 로터의 제자리 비행 성능 시험을 수행하였고 소형 로터 블레이드의 제자리 비행 성능을 획득하여 로터 회전 시험장치의 성능을 검증하였다.
