A Study on Residential Hybrid Distribution System for Reducing Power Conversion Loss (전력 변환 손실 저감을 위한 하이브리드 주거배전시스템)

  • This paper proposes residential hybrid distribution system that can supply AC power and DC power to AC load and DC load at the same time. This hybrid distribution system consists of three parts: bidirectional inverter, step-up converter and step-down converter. Also that is used to supply voltage to home application is classified of AC load and DC load as load characteristics. The performance of proposed hybrid distribution system is validated through the hardware implementation and the experimental results.

Axial load prediction in double-skinned profiled steel composite walls using machine learning

  • This study presents an innovative AI-driven approach to assess the ultimate axial load in Double-Skinned Profiled Steel sheet Composite Walls (DPSCWs). Utilizing a dataset of 80 entries, seven input parameters were employed, and various AI techniques, including Linear Regression, Polynomial Regression, Support Vector Regression, Decision Tree Regression, Decision Tree with AdaBoost Regression, Random Forest Regression, Gradient Boost Regression Tree, Elastic Net Regression, Ridge Regression, and LASSO Regression, were evaluated. Decision Tree Regression and Random Forest Regression emerged as the most accurate models. The top three performing models were integrated into a hybrid approach, excelling in accurately estimating DPSCWs' ultimate axial load. This adaptable hybrid model outperforms traditional methods, reducing errors in complex scenarios. The validated Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model showcases less than 1% error, enhancing reliability. Correlation analysis highlights robust predictions, emphasizing the importance of steel sheet thickness. The study contributes insights for predicting DPSCW strength in civil engineering, suggesting optimization and database expansion. The research advances precise load capacity estimation, empowering engineers to enhance construction safety and explore further machine learning applications in structural engineering.

Psychophysical Stess Depending on Repetition of Wrist Motion and External Load (손목 동작의 반복과 외부 부하에 따른 심물리학적 부하)

  • This study investigated effect of arm posture, repetition of wrist motion and external load on perceived discomfort. The arm postures were controlled by shoulder flexion, elbow flexion, and ist motions such as flexion, extension, radial deviation and ulnar deviation. An experiment was conducted to measure discomfort scores for experimental treatments using the magnitude estimation, in which the L16 orthogonal array was adopted for reducing the size of experiment. The results showed that while the effect of the shoulder flexion, repetition of wrist motion and external load was statistically significant at $\alpha=0.05$or 0.10, that of the elbow and wrist motions was not. Discomfor ratings increased linearly as levels of wrist repetition and external load increased. This implies that the existing posture classification schemes such as OWAS, RULA, which do not properly consider effect of motion repetition and external load, may underestimate postural load. Based on the regression equation for wrist repetition and external load, isocomfort region indicating the region within which discomfort scores were expected to be the same was proposed. It is recommended that when assessing risk of postures or developing new posture classification schemes, motion repetition and external load as well as posture itself be fully taken into consideration for precisely evaluating postural stress.

  • Purpose: For improving result of estimated remaining useful life in Prognostics and Health Management (PHM), a system which is able to consider a lot of environment and load data is required. Method: A load profile monitoring system was presented based on cloud computing for gathering and processing raw data which is included environment and load data. Result: Users can access results of load profile information on the Internet. The developed system provides information which consists of distribution of load data, basic statistics, etc. Conclusion: We developed the load profile monitoring system for considering much environment and load data. This system has advantages such as improving accessibility through smart device, reducing cost, and covering various conditions.

Study on cognitive load of OM interface and eye movement experiment for nuclear power system

  • The operation and monitoring (OM) interface is the digital medium between nuclear power system and operators. The cognitive load of OM interface has an important effect on the operation errors made by operator during OM task between operator and computer. The cognitive load model of OM interface is constructed for analysing the composition and influencing factors of OM interface cognitive load. And to study the coping strategies and methods for cognitive load of nuclear power system. An experiment method based on eye movement is proposed to measure the cognitive load of OM interface. Experiment case is carried out with 20 subjects and typical OM interface of a nuclear power system simulator. The OM interface is optimized based on the experiment results. And the results comparison between the original OM interface and the optimized OM interface shows that the cognitive load model and proposed method is valuable contributions in reducing the cognitive load and improving the interaction efficiency of OM tasks.

  • After the implementation of the total pollution load control system, the effect of improving river water quality by expanding investments in basic environmental facilities, inducing operational efficiency, and reducing the load of various pollutants was clear. However, since the implementation of the system, the management of non-point pollutants has been neglected; management focused on specific substances (biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and total phosphorus (T-P)) and lacked specific cause analysis and action plans, failed to establish a relationship between water quality and pollution load, failed to reflect stakeholder demands for river water quality management, and failed to apply technical conditions. Therefore, to overcome the limitations raised and achieve a practical and efficient advanced total pollution system, the current system was partially improved and will continue to be improved. This study analyzed the performance and limitations of the total pollution system and introduced recent improvements and the contents that are being improved. The main contents included reducing emissions and reduction monitoring, using water quality tele-monitoring system (TMS) data and self-measurement data, adding population-inducing facilities, and adjusting regional development projects from 20 to 30 multi-family housing units, currentizing each pollutant source according to the roadmap. If the system is improved in a developmental direction and responds to various changes, it will be a more practical and effective policy.

  • A dynamic analysis using a hybrid finite element method was performed to characterize the effects of a number of manufacturing errors on bearing forces and critical tooth stress in the elements of a planetary gear system. Some tolerance control guidelines for managing bearing forces and critical stress are deduced from the results. The carrier indexing error for the planet assembly and planet runout error are the most critical factors in reducing the planet bearing force and maximizing load sharing, as well as in reducing the critical stress.

  • In tihis paper an improved matching method using subtemplate of moving region and 3-step search algorithm is proposed It reduces heavy computational load of the conventional method. The proposed method is applied to an automatic target tracker using high speed 16 bit microprocessor in order to track one moving target in real time. Expericmental results show that the proposed method has better performance over the conventional methodin spite of greately reducing the computational load, even in came complex background.

  • To increase the fuel economy, a reduction of friction loss is important in engines. Experimental investigations have been required for reducing the friction loss of crankshaft bearings. Hydraulic cylinder, and servo control ler system which modified the applied load, and test rig for the observation of the characteristics of engine crankshaft bearings were designed and fabricated. Experiment is performed. Friction torque, journal locus and circumferential temperature variations of crankshaft bearings were measured with appling load, revolution speed, and oil inlet temperature, etc.

Real-time Automatic Target Tracking Using a Subtemplate of Moving Region (이동영역을 틀 영상으로 한 실시간 자동목표 추적)

  • In this paper, an improved matching method using subtemplate of moving region and 3-step search algorithm is proposed.
