  • The Objective of this work was to design Surface Antenna Structure (SAS) and investigate fatigue behavior of SAS that was asymmetric sandwich structure. This term, SAS, indicates that structural surface becomes antenna. Constituent materials were selected considering electrical properties, dielectric constant and tangent loss as well as mechanical properties. For the antenna performance, SSFIP elements inserted into structural layers were designed for satellite communication at a resonant frequency of 12.5 GHz and final demonstration article was $16\;{\times}\;8$ array antenna. From electrical measurements, it was shown that antenna performances were in good agreement with design requirements. In cyclic 4-point bending, flexure behavior was investigated by static and fatigue test. Fatigue life curve of SAS was obtained. The fatigue load was determined experimentally at a 0.75(1.875kN) load level. SAS concept is the first serious attempt at integration for both antenna and composite engineers and promises innovative future communication technology.

  • Chevron rubber springs are used in primary suspensions for rail vehicle. Chevron rubber spring have function which reduce vibration and noise, support load carried in operation of rail vehicle. Prediction and evaluation of characteristics are very important in design procedure to assure the safety and reliability of the rubber spring. The computer simulation using the nonlinear finite element analysis program executed to predict and evaluate the load capacity and stiffness for the chevron spring. The non-linear properties of rubber which are described as strain energy functions are important parameters. These are determined by material tests which are uniaxial tension, equi-biaxial tension and shear test. The appropriate shape and material properties are proposed to adjust the required characteristics of rubber springs in the three modes of flexibility.

  • A study is made of mechanical properties of unglazed matrix as a funtion of sintering temperature and crack patterns in layer structur pottery consisting of glaze and substrate and in matrix which is sintered at 120$0^{\circ}C$ and 130$0^{\circ}C$ respectively. The mechanical properties of matrix are increased due to density and vitrification to 130$0^{\circ}C$ The interface of glazed bilayer reveals the reactive intermediate layer. Herzian indentation testing is used to investigate the evolution of damage modes as a function of load. In the materials sintered at 120$0^{\circ}C$ quasi-plastic deformation is developed at the matrix and the cone-like cracks initiate at the glazing top surface and additionally upward-extending transverse cracks initiate at the internal in-just initiate at the glazing top surface which pass through the interface with increasing of indentation load. Finally the dominant damage mode shifts from substrate quasi-plasticity to coating fracture with increasing sintering temperature.

  • Concrete is one of the principal materials for the structure and it is widely used all over the world, but it shows extremely brittle failure under bending and tensile load. Recently to improve such a poor property, Ductile Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composites (DFRCC) have been developed, and it are defined by an ultimate strength higher than their first cracking strength and the formation of multiple cracking during the inelastic deformation process. This paper is to estimate experimentally the mechanical properties of ductile concrete with the kinds of used fine and coarse aggregate for purpose of development of high ductile concrete mixing coarse aggregate. As the results, ductile concrete mixed coarse aggregate showed the displacement-hardening behavior under bending load similar to DFRCC, and its compressive and bending performance varied according to the kinds of used coarse aggregate.

  • When the polyester/cellulosic fiber mixed fabrics were treated with sodium hydrogensulfate for burn-out printing, it is examined how the effects of process conditions as concentration of acid, fixation temperature and fixation time act onto the properties of the polyester ground fabrics. The print paste, indalca solution, was mixed with sodium hydrogensulfate and glycerine, and then screen-printed on the fabrics. The properties of the polyester ground fabrics after removing away the cellulosic fibers were investigated. The yellowness index and the breaking load of polyester ground fabrics affected by the process conditions, especially dry heat fixation temperature.

  • Selective surface densification is a tool for improving the mechanical properties of PM steels, such that the requirements for highly loaded gears can be matched. This paper describes the manufacturing and the properties of a helical P/M gear. The gear performance was evaluated on a 3-shaft back to back test rig, on a load bearing test rig and on a sound test bench. The results of these tests are presented and compared to data obtained from solid steel gear with identical geometry and surface quality. This comparison indicates that P/M gears have a load bearing capacity and noise level which are both well comparable to solid steel gears.

  • This paper is concerned with the improvement of impact and tensile Properties of spheroidal graphite cast iron of the following duplex matricess which were heat treated in the eutectic transformation temperature range (that is, $({\alpha}+{\gamma})$ coexisting range) ; ferrite-martensite, ferrite-bainite and ferrite-pearlite. The absorbed energy and maximum load was measured by recording the load-deflection curve with instrumented Charpy impact testing machine in the temperature range from $+100^{\circ}C$ to $-196^{\circ}C$. It was found the ferrite-bainite duplex matrix showed the highest toughness among the above matrices in the room temperature and the low temperature range. Comparison of this matrix to ferrite-pearlite matrix(that is, as cast) showed a lowering of $27^{\circ}C$ in the nil-ductility transition temperature (NDT) and a lowering of $40^{\circ}C$ in the ductile-brittle transition temperature (TrE), Which seems to result from the finner dimple pattern observed using miorofractography.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest a fundamental data for change of dynamic properties according to the loading time of resilient materials. 18 kinds of resilient materials included 4 representative types were measured at the load time of 24hours and 2hours by the method of Korea standard (KS F 2868) measuring the dynamic stiffness and the loss factor of materials under floating floors. As a result, the dynamic stiffness was increased rapidly in case of expandable polystyrene and rubber materials according to the load time, especially before 2 hours. The loss factor was represented that rubber materials with high elasticity are high, and expandable polystyrene, polyester, poly ethylene materials with low elasticity are low.

  • Application of X-ray irradiation of dried condiments was studied using commercially prepared dried garlic, onion and welsh onion flakes as model samples. Total load of aerobic microbes (TAM), color differences, and generation of off-flavor were quantified for samples individually irradiated with gamma rays, electrons, or X-rays. TAM load was decreased by irradiation in a dose-dependent manner. The three types of radiation did not differ in the extent of TAM reduction (P>0.05). The samples did not differ in color. Off-flavor was detected from 6 kGy-irradiated samples, regardless of radiation sources. The results indicated that X-ray irradiation could be used for irradiation of dried condiments with the same effects as gamma rays and an electron beam.

  • Tested the flexural strength and maximum load of two types of dental 3 D printed temporary tooth materials of the DLP method. The average flexural strength was 206.98 MPa in the test group and 139.77 MPa in the control group. The average flexural strength of the experimental group was 67.21 MPa higher than that of the control group. In the maximum load experiment, an average of 44.16N in the experimental group and 37.31N in the control group were measured. The average value of 6.85N was higher in the experimental group, and the durability of the artificial tooth restoration was improved.
