  • This study was carried out to investigate experimentally the effect of three factors(dynamic load, inflation pressure and number of passes of tire) on soil compaction under the tire. The experiment were conducted with a 6.00R14 radial-ply tire for sandy loam soil using soil bin system. To evaluate the effect of three factors on soil compaction under the tire, the sinkage. density and volume of soil under the tire were measured fur the three levels of dynamic load(1.17kN, 2.35kN and 3.53kN), for the three levels of tire inflation pressure(103.42kPa, 206.84kPa and 413.67kPa), and for three different number of passes(1, 3 and 5). The results of this study can be summarized as follows : 1. As dynamic load, inflation pressure and number of passes of the tire increased, soil sinkage and density increased. and volume of soil decreased. Thus increase in dynamic load, inflation pressure and number of passes of the tire would increase soil compaction. 2. The effect of tire inflation pressure on sinkage. density and volume of soil under the tire was relatively less than that of the dynamic load. Therefore, it was concluded that dynamic load was more important factor affecting soil compaction in comparison to the inflation pressure of tire. 3. The effect of three different factors on sinkage, density and volume of soil decreased as the soil depth increase. Consequently, it was fecund that soil compaction at a shallow depth in soil was larger than that at deep place in soil.

  • The coal-fired power plant is operated by a combined operation method, which is operated by sliding pressure operation under low load and by fixed pressure operation under high load for improved efficiency. The combined operation is divided into two and three valve open modes. Each plant is operated by selecting the turbine control valve mode in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendation, but is not really operating at the optimal sliding pressure operation according to load range, also Load range of each plant is configured differently. The internal efficiency of the high-pressure turbines is reduced due to loss of the turbine valves and the plant efficiency is reduced. To solve these problems, In this paper, the optimum load range is selected through the analysis method of thermal performance by each load in order to improve the optimum variable pressure operation load range by turbine control valve mode.

  • Recently developed trenchless construction methods ensure stability for the ground settlement by inserting steel pipes along the underpass section and integrating steel pipes before ground excavation to form pipe-roof. This study is to confirm the reinforcing effect of pipe-roof by measuring lateral earth pressure acting on the underpass constructed by the STS (Steel Tube Slab) construction method. For this purpose, lateral earth pressure was measured at the left and right side of the pipe-roof after installing earth pressure cells. As a result, lateral earth pressure was measured with considerable reduction because the integrated pipe-roof shared surcharge. Therefore, economic design for the underpass could be expected by sharing design load by pipe-roof. In addition, construction cost was analyzed according to the design-load sharing ratio by pipe-roof. As pipe-roof shares design load by 40%, the total construction cost can decrease by almost 10% in the case of four-lane underpass.

  • Wind tunnel model studies were carried out to determine the wind load distribution on tributary areas near the gable-end of large, low-rise buildings with high pitch planar and curved roof shapes. Background pressure fluctuations on each tributary area are described by a series of uncorrelated modes given by the eigenvectors of the force covariance matrix. Analysis of eigenvalues shows that the dominant first mode contributes around 40% to the fluctuating pressures, and the eigenvector mode-shape generally follows the mean pressure distribution. The first mode contributes significantly to the fluctuating load effect, when its influence line is similar to the mode-shape. For such cases, the effective static pressure distribution closely follows the mean pressure distribution on the tributary area, and the quasi-static method would provide a good estimate of peak load effects.

  • Limit load of pressure bearing structures was reviewed in this article. By means of the finite element analysis, limit load of pressurized cylinder with nozzle was taken as an example. Stress classification method and Elastic-plastic finite element analysis combining with limit load determination methods were used to determine limit load of cylinder with nozzle. Comparison of limit load determined by different methods, the results indicated that limit load determined by linearization method was the smallest. Limit load determined by twice elastic slope criterion was the nearest than experimental results. Elastic-plastic finite element analysis had comparably computational precision, but required time consuming. And then the requirements of computer processing and storage capacity by power system became higher and higher. Most of criteria for limit load estimation included any human factors based on a certain substantive characteristics of experimental results. The reasonable criterion should be objective and operational.

  • This paper reports a technique for measuring a three-dimensional soil deformation and a simplified method to determine the three-dimensional contact area of agricultural tires in a soil bin. A Pirelli 12.4R28 radial-ply tire was used on soft soil. Effects of dynamic load and inflation pressure were determined using the equipment for measuring soil deformation on the soil surface. Soil deformation measurements were made under three conditions of over-load (59kPa-14.2kN), rated-load (108kPa-11.8kN) and under-load (157kPa-9.3kN) in the combinations of the inflation pressures (kPa) and the tire load (kN). The results from three conditions were shown that the contact area of the over-load increased considerably bigger than those of the rated-load and the under-load. Therefore, to regulate soil deformation, the inflation pressure and the tire load should be set according to the soil conditions.

  • In this study, a series of soil bin experiment was carried out to investigate experimentally the effect of the tire inflation pressure and axle load of tire on the steering torque for the off-road condition. The experiment was performed at the three levels of off-road conditions(ground I, ground II and ground III) and on-road condition(ground IV), four levels of tire inflation pressure(120 kPa, 170 kPa, 220 kPa and 270 kPa), and four levels of axle load(1470N, 1960N, 2450N and 2940N). The results of this study are summarized as follows: 1. Steering torque at the off-road conditions were higher than that on the on-road conditions for all levels of tire inflation pressure and axle load. 2. As the axle load increased, steering torque also increased f3r all experimental ground conditions. 3. For the axle load of 1470N the biggest steering torque was measured on the ground condition I, but as the axle load increased to the value of 2940N the biggest steering torque was measured on the ground condition III. From the above results, it was found that for the low axle load, steering torque gets higher on the soft ground condition, but for the high axle load, steering torque gets higher on hard ground condition for whole range of experimental conditions. 4. As the tire inflation pressure decreased, steering torque increased on the on-road condition, but no specific trend was not found at the off-road conditions.

  • Virtual reality is currently mainly used in games, but is starting to be applied as a variety of media fields, such as broadcasting and film. Virtual reality provides more fun than reality, and can provide new experiences in areas that cannot be experienced in reality due to the constraints of time, space, and environment. In particular, as the social non-contact arena has increased due to COVID-19, it is being applied to education, health, and medical industries. The contents are further expanding into design and military fields. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to observe the change in distribution of load and pressure felt by the body in the flying state while wearing a short pants harness, which are mainly used in the game and entertainment industry. In the experiment, the average pressure in the flying state was measured by attaching a pressure sensor to the back and front of a human mannequin. As a result, it was confirmed that the load concentrated on the waist in the flying state was 44 N, with a pressure of 1353 kPa. The pressure distribution was concentrated in front of the center of gravity, and was measured was at 98% by the pressure sensors, with an average pressure value of approximately 15 kPa, and a pressure value of approximately 12 kPa at the back, which was measured at 67% by the pressure sensor. The results of the load and pressure distribution measurement are presented as fundamental data to improve the wearability and comfort of harnesses in the future, and are compared to actual measured pressure values by analyzing the clothing pressure in flight through virtual wear of harnesses through the CLO 3D program.

  • Spatial Structure has suffered from a lot of damage due to the use of lightweight roofs. Among them, the damage caused by strong winds was the greatest, and the failure of the calculation of the wind load was the most frequent cause. It provides that wind tunnel test is used to calculate the wind load. However, it is often the case that the wind load is calculated based on the standard of wind load in the development design stage. Therefore based on this, the structure type and structural system and member design are often determined. Spatial structure is usually open at a certain area. The retractable roof structure should be operated with the open roof in some cases, so the wind load for the open shape should be considered, but it is not clear on the basis of the wind load standard. In this paper, the design wind pressure of a closed and retractable roof structure is calculated by KBC2016, AIJ2004, ASCE7-10, EN2005, and the applicability of wind pressure coefficient is compared with wind tunnel test.
