일방향 응고법을 이용한 Mar M-247LC 초내열합금의 액상 물성 측정 (Estimation of Liquid Physical Properties of Mar-M247LC Superalloy by Directional Solidification)

  • Directional solidification experiments have been carried out at the solidification rates from 0.5 to 50$\mu\textrm{m}$/s in Mar M-247LC superalloy in which several important liquid properties were estimated by analyzing the interface stability and temperature gradient at the solid/liquid interface. The diffusion coefficient in the liquid was estimated by employing the constitutional supercooling criterion. The temperature gradients changed with solidification rates and latent heat of solidification. The thermal conductivities of solid and liquid could be estimated by heat flux balance at the solid liquid interface.

  • In this work, the conventional transient liquid phase(TLP) bonding was modified. An attempt was made of using a liquid phase sintered alloy, which will be a liquid phase coexisting with a solid phase at the bonding temperature, as an interlayer for bonding metals. With an aim of revealing the fundamental features of this modified TLP bonding, the kinetics concerned with the growth of solid particles and the isothermal solidification process in Fe-1.16wt%B and Fe-4.5wt%P interlayers for the bonding pure iron, as well as the morphological change of the solid particle, were investigated.

선박용 냉각수의 고.액분리에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Solid-Liquid Separation of Cooling Water in Ships)

  • Hydrocyclone has been widely used for the solid-Liquid separation in many industrial sites because of its comparatively preferable applications that can be applied to wide-range panicle sizes. If seawater with impurities flows through pumps or heat exchanger, it might cause an decrease in efficiency of cooling system. In this paper, we have suggested solid methods of separating impurities from seawater in the cooling system by using a Hydrocyclone. The effects of design factors as solid concentration, cyclone inlet pressure, flow rate and diameter of underflow on the seperating performance of the Hydrocyclone were investigated. The results from the study are summarized as follows: 1) In proportion to the increase of solid concentration, the efficiency of solid-liquid separation is improved. 2) According as the cyclone inlet pressure increases the efficiency of separation is improved. Conclusively, this research suggested that the Hydrocyclone will be used as a pre-treatment system of cooling water in ships, and eventually prevent unexpected accidents in engine systems.

슬러리 양돈분뇨의 최적 고액분리 방안 연구 (A Practical Study on the Solid-Liquid Separation of the Swine Wastewater from Slurry Feedlot)

  • 현재 국내에서 처리에 어려움을 겪고 있으며 사회적으로 문제가 되고 있는 양돈 분뇨의 처리중 생물학적 처리를 위한 전처리 공정의 일환으로 비육돈 슬러리 돈사에서 발생하는 분뇨를 대상으로 고액분리에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 최적의 고액 분리를 위하여 적정 응집제 선정 및 첨가량을 도출하였으며, 현장 규모의 고액 분리 장치를 통하여 규모별 최적 고액 분리 공정을 도출하였다. 이 결과 탈수성 개량을 위한 적정 응집제로는 Polyarcylamide 계열의 양이온 고분자 응집제인 E-851이 적합하였으며, 단위 고형물당 0.24~0.6%가 요구되었다. 본 연구에서 검토된 공정으로는 Mesh Screen, Drum Screen, Cyclone Drum Filter, Screw Press, 고속 Screw Decanter, 저속 Screw Decanter 및 DAF 공정을 조합하여 검토하였다. 그 결과 최적 공정으로는 중 소규모의 1차 고액 분리 공정으로는 Screw Press(응집제 첨가)와 대규모 및 공공처리장 규모에서는 저속 Screw Decanter(응집제 첨가)가 적정 공정으로 도출되었으며 2차 처리 공정으로는 가압부상조가 가장 안정적인 것으로 나타났다. 한편 고액 분리 유무에 따라 수분조절제 및 유기물 부하량 감소는 각각 94.8, 84.7%로 나타났으며 슬러리 양돈분뇨의 정화방안으로는 고액분리가 반드시 필요한 것으로 나타났다.

  • Due to the effect of surface tension, liquid film around a curved edge of solid surface moves from the corner to the flat surface. During this behavior of liquid film, film sagging phenomenon is easily occurred at the solid surface. Behavior of liquid film is determined with the effects of the properties of liquid film and the geometric factors of solid surface. In the present study, 2-D transient CFD simulations were conducted on the behavior of liquid film around a curved edge. The two-phase interfacial flow of liquid film was numerically investigated by using a VOF method in order to predict the film sagging around a curved edge. In the steady state of behavior of liquid film, the liquid film thickness of numerical result showed a good agreement with experimental data. After verifying the numerical results, the characteristics of behavior of liquid film were numerically analyzed with various properties of liquid film such as surface tension coefficient and viscosity. The effects of geometric factors on film sagging were also investigated to reduce the film sagging around a curved edge.

액체 온도 변화에 따른 평판 충돌 액적의 거동에 관한 연구 (Behavior of an Impinging Droplet on a Solid Surface with a Variation of Liquid Temperature)

  • An experimental study on the behavior of droplets impinging on a solid flat surface was carried out in the present study. Breakup of a liquid droplet impinging on a solid surface has been investigated experimentally for various liquids with different properties. The liquid droplet temperature and incident angle were chosen as major parameters. Liquid droplet temperature and incident angle varied in the range from $-20{\circ}C\;to\;30{\circ}C\;and\;from\;30{\circ}\;to\;60{\circ},$ respectively. It was found that the variation of droplet temperature influences upon the mean diameter and uniformity of droplets which were bounced out from the solid surface. With increase of incident angle the dispersion mass fraction increases, causing the decrease of liquid film flow rate. As the liquid temperature increases, dispersion mass fraction increases since the surface tension decreases.

  • It is the objective of this study that by conducting the serni-solid extrusion using A12024, the effect of various process variables on the quality of extruded product and extrusion force is understood. The results of experiment are compared with those of finite element simulation in order to verify the effectiveness of the developed FE-simulation code. In order to simulate densification in the deformation of serni-solid material, the semi-solid material is assumed to be composed of solid region as porous skeleton following compressible visco-plastic model and liquid region following Darcy's equation for the liquid flow saturated in the interstitial space. Then the flow and deformation of the semi-solid alloy are analyzed by coupling the deformation of the porous skeleton and the flow of the eutectic liquid. It is assumed that initial solid fraction is homogeneous. Yield and plastic potential function presented by Kuhn and constitutive model developed by Gunasekera are used for solid skeleton.

Optimization of Extraction Parameters for Keratinase Recovery from Fermented Feather under Solid State Fermentation by Streptomyces sp. NRC 13S

  • The effects of solvent type and concentration, solid/liquid ratio, extraction time and repeated extraction on recovery of keratinase from solid-state fermentation (SSF) of chicken feather by a local Streptomyces sp. NRC 13S were investigated in order to establish the experimental conditions for keratinase yield. Among solvents tested, 0.5% (v/v) glycerol was the best. Box-Behnken design was used to investigate the effect of relevant variables on keratinase recovery. The factors investigated were solid/liquid ratio (1:1.66-1:6.66 g/mL), glycerol concentration (0.5-5% v/v) and repeated extraction (1-5 cycle). The results showed that the maximum recovery of keratinase (6933.3 U/gfs) was obtained using 0.5 (v/v) glycerol as extracting solvent, in a solid/liquid ratio of 1:5 and three extraction cycles.

  • The thermal characteristics of solid nitrogen are investigated by experiment and analysis for the purpose of evaluating its feasibility as a cooling medium for HTS (high T$_{c}$ superconductor) magnets. A cryostat to refrigerate a liquid-nitrogen container well below its freezing temperature with a 2-stage GM cryocooler is designed and constructed. The spatial distribution of temperature is measure as a function of time during the freezing and melting processes. from which the thermal diffusivity of solid nitrogen can be approximately calculated. the freezing process is formulated and solved by the integral method with an assumption of phase equilibrium at the solid-liquid interface and experimental observation. It may be concluded that the thermal diffusion in solid phase is much slower than in liquid and the degree of super-saturation is quite severe in the solidification of nitrogen.n.

  • In the present study, a transient glass particle distribution in a stirred solid/liquid mixer was investigated using computational fluid dynamics(CFD). The flow patterns and solid concentaration distriburion in a solid/liquid mixer formed by pitched paddle and baffles were predicted. The numerical results were compared to experimental data from the available literature. Eulerian multi-phase model was used to investigate the influence of the density of solid particle on the same impeller speed. A good agreement was obtained between the experimental data and simulation results.
