Theoretical Prediction Method of Subcooled Flow Boiling CHF

  • A theoretical critical heat flux (CLE) model. based on lateral bubble coalescence on the heated wall, is proposed to predict the subcooled flow boiling CHF in a uniformly heated vertical tube. The model is based on the concept that a single layer of bubbles contacted to the heated wall events a bulk liquid from reaching the wall at near CHF condition. Comparisons between the model predictions and experimental data result in satisfactory agreement within less than 9.73 % root-mean-square error by the appropriate choice of the critical void fraction in the bubbly layer. The present model shows comparable performance with the CHF look-up table of Groeneveld et al.

흰열이 있는 전열면의 R-113에서의 비등열전달에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Boiling Heat Transfer of Heat Surface with Fin Array to R-113)

  • This study investigate experimentally the effect of in height, thickness, and clearance on the boiling heat transfer. The heat surfaces having copper fin array is tested for pool boiling. The gas-liquid exchange interference is investigated based on fin array clearance. These test results can be applied to the design of tube bundle system. The fin height of 2 mm is found to be effective. Effects of heat transfer promotion reaches the highest level when the fin clearance is 0.5mm. Also, heat flux is increased when the fin thickness is smaller. But0.2 mm fin thickness is highly recommended.

  • 관벽의 영향을 무시할 수 있는 요기내의 액체중을 상승하는 단일공기포의 상승속도, 형산, 경로를 명확히 하고 원주형관, 정방형관, 평행평판간의 액체중을 상승하는 단일기포의 상승속도에 미치는 관벽영향을 구하였다. 원주형관을 상승하는 공기포는 dimensionless plot로 실험치를 통 적으로 표현할 수가 있었으며 관벽영향을 받지않고 관중을 상승할 수 있는 공기포에 대한 최저의 관경을 결정할 수가 있었다.

수평원관내 체적변화를 고려한 얼음의 용용시 전열특성에 관한 연구 (Melting of Ice Inside a Horizontal Cylinder under the Volume Change)

  • Heat transfer phenomena during melting process of the phase change material (ice) was studied by numerical analysis and experiments. In a horizontal ice storage tube, the natural convection caused an increase in melting rate. However, the reduction of the heating surface area caused a decrease in melting rate. Therefore, during the melting process of ice in a horizontal cylinder, the reduction of the heating surface area should be considered. Under the same heating wall and initial water temperature condition, the melting rate became higher for $V_s/V_tot/=0.545 \;than \;that\; for\; V_s/V_tot$/=1.00 due to the difference in the reduction of heating surface area. A modified melting model considering the equivalent thermal conductivity of liquid phase and volume reduction was proposed. The results of the model were compared with the measured values and found to be in good agreement.

Effect of Wavy Flow of Vertical Falling Film on the Absorption Performance

  • The present study investigated experimentally and numerically the enhancement of absorption performance due to the waviness of falling film in the vertical absorber tube. The momentum, energy and mass diffusion equations were utilized to find out temperature and concentration profiles at both the interfaces of liquid solution and refrigerant vapor and the wall. Flow visualization was performed to find out the wetting characteristics of the falling film. The maximum heat transfer coefficient was obtained for the wavy flow using spring as an insert device through both numerical and experimental studies. Based on the numerical and experimental results, the maximum absorption rate was found for the wavy-flow using spring as the insert device. The differences between experimental and analytical results ranged from $5.0\;to\;25\%\;when\;Re_j>100$.

Experimental and Theoretical Studies on the Dynamic Characteristics During Speed Down of Inverter Heat Pump

  • A series of tests were performed to verify the transient characteristics of heat pump in heating and cooling mode when operating speed was varied over the 30 to 102Hz. One of the major issues that has not been addressed so far is transient characteristics during speed modulation. The model for cycle simulation has been developed to predict the cycle performance under conditions of decreasing drive frequency and the results of the theoretical study were compared with the results of the experimental study. The simulated results were in good agreement with the experimental result within 10%. The transient cycle migration of the liquid state refrigerant causes significant dynamic change in system. Thus, the migration of refrigerant was the most important factor whenever do experimental results analysis or develop simulation model.

  • 액체 로켓 엔진을 작동하기 위해서는 추진제 점화를 위한 점화기가 필수적이다. 이 점화기의 중요한 현상은 열 음향 공진이다. 본 논문에서는 주로 열 음향 공진 현상에 대한 노즐과 공진관 사이의 거리에 따른 실험 결과를 다루었다. 이 연구의 최종적인 목적은 이 현상을 이용하여 다중 점화가 가능한 점화기 개발에 있다.

Characteristics of the Integrated Steam Generators for a Liquid Metal Reactor

  • Various types of integrated steam generators, which integrate IHTS and a steam generator into a single unit of equipment for an LMR, were analyzed using an analytic solution with some simplification. The analysis showed that the undesirable reversed heat transfer, of which occurrence was previously observed only in an integrated single-region bundle type, can also occur in an integrated double-region bundle type. The mechanism of the reversed heat transfer occurrence in the double-region type is explained and it is shown the mechanism in the double-region type is completely different from that in the single-region type. Based on this finding, a method for preventing the aforementioned heat transfer is suggested. The performance of the four types of the integrated steam generators is assessed. For this assessment, a SG is actually designed for each type and the optimization in the geometric parameters and flow rate are optimized.

원관내 수직상향 2상유동에서 고분자물질이 유동양식에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Flow Patterns with Polymer Additivies From Two Phase Flow at Vertical up Ward in Circular Tube)

  • Flow pattern of air-water two phase flow depends on the conditions of pressure void fraction and channel geometry. We classify the flow pattern by measuring the output signal of the conductivity probe. under the classified flow pattern we mount a visualization equipment on the test section and take pictures. We vary the concentration of pure solvent and polymer to measure local void fraction. We know that the maximum point position of local void fraction distribution move from the center of the pipe to the wall of the pipe as JSL increase when JSA is constant in two phase flow. But we find that the maximum point position of local void friction move from the wal of the pipe to the center of the pipe when polymer concentration increase.

집열기 성능향상에 관한 연구현황 (State of Arts on the Performance of Collector)

  • In this research, we have analyzed the researches and productions of solar collectors in Korea and U.S.A. In the U.S., collectors are produced by hundreds of manufacturers. The amounts are 23 million sq.ft for the liquid system, 358 thousand sq.ft of the air system and 266 thousand sq.ft for the vacuum tube and focus collectors. In Korea, a very small quantity is produced by several manufacturers. So they have to be largely dependent upon the imports in Korea. In the U.S., research topics include the materials development, design and applications. In Korea, however materials research has been rare and there have been only a few papers on selective coating. Researches have been limited to the system design and collector testing.
