More recently, unsteady flow in small-diameter pipes plays a major role in liquid propellantrocket systems, hydraulic and pneumatic control system, and elsewhere. And it has shown that line dynamics can have a marked effect on the hydraulic system characteristics. In this paper, transfer function of hydraulic lines with an accumulator and an outlet orifice is' developed and compared with experimental data from frequency response tests at various airvolume(V.) and the location of accumulator(ld1t), so that their performance may be correctly and easily predicted and the design of the systems incorporating them improved. The obtained results are as follows: 1. The dynamic response of hydraulic lines may be analyzed more accurately by use of the viscous term(22) in unsteady laminar flow. 2. There was good agreement between the theoretical and experimental results of this investigation, and hydraulic systems with liines included an accumulator can be analyzed more accurately by use of the pressure transfer function given by eq. (16). 3. For the mitigation of surge in hydraulic lines, it is more effective that the location ofaccumulator is close to the pipe outlet side. 4. According to the gas volume of accumulator is increased(the sealing pressure is close tomean line pressure), the damping effect of pressure wave is improved.

The overall results of hot firing tests of fuel-rich gas generator with impinging injector at design and off-design points are described. The gas generator consists of an injector head with impinging injector, a water cooled combustor wall, a turbulence ring to enhance mixing, an instrument ring measuring temperature and pressure and a nozzle. The combustion tests were successfully performed without damage of gas generator. Test results show that the outlet temperature is not dependent on residence time of hot gas within 4~6msec but dependent on chamber pressure. The relation between outlet temperature and combustion efficiency resulting from measured pressure, mass flow rate and area of nozzle throat is shown. The overall O/F ratio is the critical parameter to determine the outlet temperature and the linear correlation between two parameters is established.

In this study, the inlet duct and guide vane of the gas floating absorption tower were redesigned to improve the desulfurization efficiency so that the exhaust gas can be uniformly introduced into the absorption tower. In order to reduce the sulfur oxide pollutants among the main sources of air pollutants in industrial boilers, the existing equipment is redesigned and solved. For this purpose, change the exhaust gas, the slurry and recycling the adsorbent to improve the removal efficiency of SOx component in the exhaust gas inside the gas floating absorption tower so as to uniformly contact. And the initial design value and CFD value for the pressure loss from the boiler outlet to the gas floating absorption tower outlet are verified. Also, the velocity distribution of the exhaust gas, the concentration distribution of the recycled adsorbent, the liquid slurry behavior, and the pressure loss were compared. The results confirmed that the desulfurization efficiency was improved because the pressure loss from the boiler outlet to the absorption tower outlet was reduced and the deflection of the exhaust gas was minimized.

General polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEMFC) operates at less than $80^{\circ}C$. Therefore liquid phase water resulting from electrochemical reaction accumulates and floods the cell which in turn increases the mass transfer loss. To prevent the flooding, it is common to employ serpentine flow channel, which can efficiently export liquid phase water to the outlet. The major drawback of utilizing serpentine flow channel is the large pressure drop that happens between the inlet and outlet. On the other hand, in the high temperature polymer electrolyte fuel cell (HT-PEMFC), since the operating temperature is 130 to $180^{\circ}C$, the generated water is in the state of gas, so the flooding phenomenon is not taken into consideration. In HT-PEMFCs parallel flow channel with lower pressure drop between the inlet and outlet is employed therefore, in order to circulate hydrogen and air in the cell less pumping power is required. In this study we analyzed HT-PEMFC's different flow channels by parallel computation using previously developed 3-D isothermal model. All the flow channels had an active area of $25cm^2$. Also, we numerically compared the performance of HT-PEMFC parallel flow channel with different manifold area and Rib interval against the original serpentine flow channel. Results of the analysis are shown in the form of three-dimensional contour polarization curves, flow characteristics in the channel, current density distribution in the Membrane, overpotential distribution in the catalyst layer, and hydrogen and oxygen concentration distribution. As a result, the performance of a real area fuel cell was predicted.
Lead-alloys are very attractive nuclear coolants due to their thermo-hydraulic, chemical, and neutronic properties. By utilizing the HELIOS (Heavy Eutectic liquid metal Loop for Integral test of Operability and Safety of PEACER$^2$) facility, a thermal hydraulic benchmarking study has been conducted for the prediction of pressure loss in lead-alloy cooled advanced nuclear energy systems (LACANES). The loop has several complex components that cannot be readily characterized with available pressure loss correlations. Among these components is the core, composed of a vessel, a barrel, heaters separated by complex spacers, and the plenum. Due to the complex shape of the core, its pressure loss is comparable to that of the rest of the loop. Detailed CFD simulations employing different CFD codes are used to determine the pressure loss, and it is found that the spacers contribute to nearly 90 percent of the total pressure loss. In the system codes, spacers are usually accounted for; however, due to the lack of correlations for the exact spacer geometry, the accuracy of models relies strongly on assumptions used for modeling spacers. CFD can be used to determine an appropriate correlation. However, application of CFD also requires careful choice of turbulence models and numerical meshes, which are selected based on extensive experience with liquid metal flow simulations for the KALLA lab. In this paper consistent results of CFX and Star-CD are obtained and compared to measured data. Measured data of the pressure loss of the core are obtained with a differential pressure transducer located between the core inlet and outlet at a flow rate of 13.57kg/s.

For successful design of component, performances of one-tank plate type evaporator, gas-liquid separation type condenser, swash plate type compressor and thermostatic expansion valve for automotive air conditioner are investigated experimentally. Heat transfer characteristics in the evaporator are examined by means of air temperature, relative humidity, air volume flow, outlet refrigerant pressure and superheat, and heat transfer characteristics in the condenser are examined by means of air temperature, air velocity and inlet refrigerant pressure. Pressure drops for both evaporator and condenser are measured arid empirical correlations are derived. Volumetric efficiencies and isentropic efficiencies for trio types of compressors with different capacity are measured and compared. Thermostatic expansion valve is tested to investigate the pressure variation according to temperature changes.

For the assessment of combustion stability of a liquid rocket engine, a device called "Pulse Gun" should be developed first, which can induce artificial perturbations that may lead to excitations of pressure oscillations in a combustion chamber. A model chamber has been used for identifying design parameters of a pulse gun that defines its characteristics. Dynamic pressure measurements showed that shock waves generated from pulse guns are axisymmetric around the axis of a pulse gun barrel. Pressure waves perturbed by a pulse gun induce resonant acoustic frequencies of a model chamber. This fact indicates that successful pressure field perturbations of the KSR-III combustion chamber can be performed by a newly developed pulse gun device. A maximum value of dynamic pressure peaks measured at the opposite point against a pulse gun outlet becomes stronger as charge mass of pulse gun powder increases.
Gas/liquid two-phase ejector is a device without moving parts, in which liquid is used to drive gas of a low-pressure source. In this paper, the hydrodynamic characteristics of a vertical down type two-phase ejector were studied using an air-water loop system. Entrained air flow rates were measured with inlet and outlet pressures of the ejector with varying water flow rate. Homogeneous bubbly flows in the discharge pipe were confirmed by the high speed flow visualization method. Quantitative measurements of void fraction were made using a newly developed fiber optic probe system.

A propeller type mistblower was designed and manufactured. The machine consisted of a 770 millimeters diameter propeller driven by the power take off of a tractor. It delivered 26,400 cubic meters of air per hour and has the outlet speed about 180 kilometers per hour. Spray liquid was injected at 30 bars pressure through hollow cone type nozzles which were located around the air outlet of the machine bya poston type pump. Power consumption of the machine was found to be 12.46 kilowatts and the effective forward travel speed was about 2.7 kilometers per hour. Upon spraying mango trees, it was shown that the density of spray partices was about 100 microns and consumed 3.12 liters per tree. Working speed in 6 meters row spacing mango orchard was about one hectare per hour.
An experiment was performed to study the evaporation heat transfer and the pressure drop characteristics of liquid nitrogen in a horizontal stainless steel tube with wire coil inserts. The inner diameter of test tube is 4.3mm and the length is 1.5m. Four wire coils having different pitch and thickness were inserted into the plain test tube. The wire coil length is 1.5m and the diameter is 3.65mm with thickness of 0.5mm and 0.9mm. Experiments were conducted at saturation temperature of $-191^{\circ}C$ mass flux from 200 to 370 $kg/m^{2}s$ and heat flux of 62 $kW/m^{2}$. Direct heating method was used to apply heat to the test section. Boiling heat transfer coefficients of both the plain and the enhanced tubes were calculated. Pressure drops between inlet and outlet side of test section were also measured, and they are used to estimate EPR(Enhancement Performance Ratio).
