The generation of fine relics of inorganic and metallic materials from precursor suspensions is of significant current interest as it holds the key to the fabrication of display and printed circuit board. Some novel printing methods depositing ceramic particles have been suggested in recent years. When a conducting liquid is supplied to a capillary nozzle at a low flow rate and when the interface between air and the liquid is charged to a sufficiently high electrical potential, the liquid meniscus takes the form of a stable cone, whose apex emits a microscopic jet. This is called as a cone-jet mode. In our experiments, an alumina particles flowing through a nozzle were subjected to electro-hydrodynamic printing in the cone-jet mode. The pattern of 'YONSEI' characters was tested at $10 {\mu}l/min$ of alumina ink flow rate and different applied voltages. At an applied voltage of 6 kV, feature size was in the range of $250 {\mu}m.$
Experiments have been conducted to determine the flow and heat transfer characteristics for a two-dimensional turbulent wall attaching offset jet at different oblique angles to a flat surface. The distributions of the wall static pressure coefficient and time-averaged reattachment position for various offset ratios and oblique angles have been measured. The local Nusselt number distributions on the plate surface were also measured using liquid crystal as a temperature indicator. The new hue-capturing technique utilizing a true color image processing system was used to accurately determine the temperature of the liquid crystal. The experiments were carried out at Reynolds number, Re (based on D) of from 7300 to 21,300 with offset ratio, H/D from 2.5 to 10, and oblique angle, .alpha. from 0 deg. to 400 deg..
This basic study is required to examine spray or jet behavior depending on fuel phase. In this study, analyses of diesel fuel(n-Tridecane, $C_{13}H_{28}$) spray and natural gas fuel(Methane, $CH_4$) jet under high temperature and pressure are performed by a general-purpose program, ANSYS CFX release 11.0, and the results of these are compared with experimental results of diesel fuel spray using the exciplex fluorescence method. The simulation results of diesel spray is analyzed by using the combination of Large-Eddy Simulation(LES) and Lagrangian Particle Tracking(LPT) and of a natural gas jet is analyzed by using Multi-Component Model(MCM). There are two study variables considered, that is, ambient pressure and injection pressure. In a macroscopic analysis, the higher ambient pressure is, the shorter spray or jet tip penetration is at each time after start of injection. And the higher injection pressure is, the longer spray or jet tip penetration is at each time after start of injection. When liquid fuel is injected, droplets of the fuel need some time to evaporate. However, when natural gas fuel is injected, the fuel does not need time to evaporate. Gas fuel consists of minute particles. Therefore, the gas fuel is mixed with the ambient gas more quickly at the initial time of injection than the liquid fuel is done. The experimental results also validate the usefulness of this analysis.

Heat transfer characteristics of distance between impinging surface and a plane jet were experi-mentally investigated. The local heat transfer coefficients were measured by a thermochromic liq-uid crystal(TLC) The jet Reynolds number studied was varied over the range from 10,000310 to 30,000310 the nozzle-to-plate distance (H/B) from 4 to 10. It was observed that the Nusselt number increases with Reynolds number the occurrence of the secondary peak in the Nusselt number is within the potential core region the potential core of the jet flow can reach the impinging surface so that the wall jet can a transition from laminar to turbulent flow resulting in a sudden increase in the heat transfer rate.
Experimental studies has been conducted to investigate the effect of orifice diameter ratio on the mixing characteristics of the split element of doublet and triplet elements. The spray characteristics of non-reacting immiscible liquids have been investigated using a patternator. The local volume fraction is measured by use of mean value of each component. This volume measurement represents the mixing characteristics of the liquid, which affect the overall combustion efficiency. The ratio of the orifice diameter, ranging from 1 to 1.5, and that of the jet-momentum, ranging from 0.5 to 6.0, we used. The jet impinging behavior with use of various ratios exhibits substantially different mixing characteristics. Mixing efficiency is maximized when the jet-momentum ratio is increased; this behavior is particularly prominent when the orifice diameter ratio is greater than unity. The split of the triplet element yields better mixing characteristics and is more effective than that of the doublet element in regard to achieving high combustion efficiency. The optimum mixing factor for the triplet element is found to be 0.75, according to our measurement.
An experimental study on the convective heat transfer characteristics was performed for a two-dimensional wall attaching offset jet(WAOJ). Thermochromic liquid crystal was used to measure the plate wall temperature. The Nusselt number was measured for Reynolds numbers from 6, 500 to 39, 000, and the offset ratios from 0.5 to 15. The maximum Nusselt number point coincides with the time-averaged reattachment point and Nusselt number decreases monotonically after the jet reattaches on the wall. In the recirculation region Nusselt number minimize near the upstream corner and then increases as X/D decreases to vanishes. This suggests the existence of secondary vortices, causing an additional mixing of the flow in the corner. The correlations between the local Nusselt number and Reynolds number, Re, offset ratio, H/D, and streamwise distance, X/D are presented.
In this study, the velocity characteristics of liquid elements formed by two impinging jets is analysed using double pulse image capturing technique. For the droplets formed by low speed impinging jets, the droplet velocities are higher with smaller azimuthal and impingement angle. The maximum droplet velocities are about 25 % lower than jet velocity. With an increase of azimuthal angle, the shedding angles increases but remains lower than azimuthal angle. The velocities of ligaments formed by high speed impinging jets gradually decreases with an increase of azimuthal angle. The maximum ligament velocities are about 40 % lower than jet velocity. Higher impingement angles produce lower ligament velocities. The shedding angles of ligament almost increases with the same value of azimuthal angle, which implies that the moving direction of ligaments is radial from the origin as the impingement point.
