Linkage Expansion in Linked Open Data Cloud using Link Policy (연결정책을 이용한 개방형 연결 데이터 클라우드에서의 연결성 확충)

  • This paper suggests a method to expand linkages in a Linked Open Data(LOD) cloud that is a practical consequence of a semantic web. LOD cloud, contrary to the first expectation, has not been used actively because of the lack of linkages. Current method for establishing links by applying to explicit links and attaching the links to LODs have restrictions on reflecting target LODs' changes in a timely manner and maintaining them periodically. Instead of attaching them, this paper suggests that each LOD should prepare a link policy and publish it together with the LOD. The link policy specifies target LODs, predicate pairs, and similarity degrees to decide on the establishment of links. We have implemented a system that performs in-depth searching through LODs using their link policies. We have published APIs of the system to Github. Results of the experiment on the in-depth searching system with similarity degrees of 1.0 ~ 0.8 and depth level of 4 provides searching results that include 91% ~ 98% of the trustworthy links and about 170% of triples expanded.

Author Entity Identification using Representative Properties in Linked Data (대표 속성을 이용한 저자 개체 식별)

  • In recent years, Linked Data that is published under an open license shows increased growth rate and comes into the spotlight due to its interoperability and openness especially in government of developed countries. However there are relatively few out-links compared with its entire number of links and most of links refer a few hub dataset. These occur because of absence of technology that identifies entities in Linked data. In this paper, we present an improved author entity resolution method that using representative properties. To solve problems of previous methods that utilizes relation with other entities(owl:sameAs, owl:differentFrom and so on) or depends on Curation, we design and evaluate an automated realtime resolution process based on multi-ontologies that respects entity's type and its logical characteristics so as to verify entities consistency. The evaluation of author entity resolution shows positive results (The average of K measuring result is 0.8533.) with 29 author information that has obtained confirmation.

Building Linked Big Data for Stroke in Korea: Linkage of Stroke Registry and National Health Insurance Claims Data

  • Background: Linkage of public healthcare data is useful in stroke research because patients may visit different sectors of the health system before, during, and after stroke. Therefore, we aimed to establish high-quality big data on stroke in Korea by linking acute stroke registry and national health claim databases. Methods: Acute stroke patients (n = 65,311) with claim data suitable for linkage were included in the Clinical Research Center for Stroke (CRCS) registry during 2006-2014. We linked the CRCS registry with national health claim databases in the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA). Linkage was performed using 6 common variables: birth date, gender, provider identification, receiving year and number, and statement serial number in the benefit claim statement. For matched records, linkage accuracy was evaluated using differences between hospital visiting date in the CRCS registry and the commencement date for health insurance care in HIRA. Results: Of 65,311 CRCS cases, 64,634 were matched to HIRA cases (match rate, 99.0%). The proportion of true matches was 94.4% (n = 61,017) in the matched data. Among true matches (mean age 66.4 years; men 58.4%), the median National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score was 3 (interquartile range 1-7). When comparing baseline characteristics between true matches and false matches, no substantial difference was observed for any variable. Conclusion: We could establish big data on stroke by linking CRCS registry and HIRA records, using claims data without personal identifiers. We plan to conduct national stroke research and improve stroke care using the linked big database.

Vocabulary Analysis of Listening and Reading Texts in 2020 EBS-linked Textbooks and CSAT (2020년 EBS 연계교재와 대학수학능력시험의 듣기 및 읽기 어휘 분석)

  • The present study aims to investigate lexical coverage of BNC (British National Corpus) word lists and 2015 Basic Vocabulary of Ministry of Education in 2020 EBS-linked textbooks and CSAT. For the data analysis, AntWordProfiler was used to find lexical coverage and frequency. The findings showed that Students can understand 95% of the tokens with a vocabulary of BNC 3,000 and 4,000 word-families in 2020 EBS-linked listening and reading books respectively. 98% can be understood with 4,000 word-families in the EBS-linked listening book while the same lexical coverage can be covered with 8,000 word-families in the EBS-linked reading textbook. By the way, 95% of the tokens can be understood with 2,000 and 4,000 word-families in 2020 CSAT listening and reading tests respectively, while 98% requires 4,000 and 7,000 word-families in the 2020 listening and reading tests respectively. In summary, students should understand more words in 2020 EBS-linked textbooks than in 2020 CSAT tests confirming Kim's (2016) findings. Nursing students' experience of community-linked nursing education program: A qualitative content analysis (간호학생의 지역사회 연계 간호교육 프로그램 참여 경험: 질적 내용분석)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to explore nursing students' experience with community-linked nursing education programs. Methods: This study utilized a qualitative content analysis. Participants were 55 sophomore nursing students. The community-linked nursing education program was conducted for eight weeks using the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evolution (ADDIE) model. Data were collected from 55 reflection records and five individual interviews and then analyzed through the three steps of qualitative content analysis, coding, condensing, and categorizing. Results: Twelve categories, 26 subcategories, and six topics emerged. The themes of impression and lesson from the community-linked nursing education programs were "recognizing the importance of professional competence in performing the role of nurse," "recognizing the need for leadership and cooperation in nursing practice," and "increased awareness of the role as a nursing professional for community residents." The themes of the strategies used were "looking at the goal and moving forward," and "aligning differences and working together with team/community members." The theme of strategies for the advancement of community-linked nursing education programs was "establishing a sustainable student-participating community-linked education program." Conclusion: The community-linked nursing education programs made students aware of the necessary competencies as professionals. In particular, they gave them hope for their role as professional nurses in the community. It could also be seen that they developed the ability to engage in team activities for community activities. Community-linked nursing education programs will need to be developed into continuous programs with community residents.

Nearest neighbor and validity-based clustering

  • The clustering problem can be formulated as the problem to find the number of clusters and a partition matrix from a given data set using the iterative or non-iterative algorithms. The author proposes a nearest neighbor and validity-based clustering algorithm where each data point in the data set is linked with the nearest neighbor data point to form initial clusters and then a cluster in the initial clusters is linked with the nearest neighbor cluster to form a new cluster. The linking between clusters is continued until no more linking is possible. An optimal set of clusters is identified by using the conventional cluster validity index. Experimental results on well-known data sets are provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed clustering algorithm.

  • In order to prevent the further spread of the COVID-19 virus in big cities, this paper proposes a semantic diagnosis and tracking system based on Linked Data through the cluster analysis of the infection situation in Seoul, South Korea. This paper is mainly composed of three sections, information of infected people in Seoul is collected for the cluster analysis, important infected patient attributes are extracted to establish a diagnostic model based on random forest, and a tracking system based on Linked Data is designed and implemented. Experimental results show that the accuracy of our diagnostic model is more than 80%. Moreover, our tracking system is more flexible and open than existing systems and supports semantic queries.

  • The academic journal is an important medium carrying newly discovered knowledge in various disciplines. It is desirable to consider visualization of journal and article information in order to make the information more insightful and effective than text-based information. In this study, visualization service platform of journal and article information is developed. TagCloud were included in both Infographics of journal and article. Each word in the TagCloud is inter-linked with DBPedia using Linked Open Data (LOD) technique.

Comparison of Some Physicochemical Properties of Ginger Root and Cross-linked Corn Starches (생강 전분과 옥수수 가교 전분의 이화학적 성질 비교)

  • Some physicochemical properties of ginger root (Zingiber officinale) starch were compared with those of cross-linked corn starch. The ginger root starch that contained 23.5% amylose had a water-binding capacity of 99.1% and a B-type X-ray diffraction pattern. The optical transmittance of the ginger root starch suspension increased from $70^{\circ}C$ and showed a similar pattern to cross-linked corn starch. Solubility studies revealed that both ginger root and cross-linked corn starches had low swelling power and solubility in water up to $90^{\circ}C$, and reduced solubility in potassium hydroxide. Brabender amylograph data indicated that the ginger root starch (7%) had a relatively high initial pasting temperature $(81.5^{\circ}C)$ and was stable against heat and mechanical shear, which resembled to the cross-linked corn starch.

  • The revolution of smart media such as smart phone, smart TV and tablets has brought easiness for people to get contents and related information anywhere and anytime. The characteristics of the smart media have changed user behavior for watching the contents from passive attitude into active one. Video is a kind of multimedia resources and widely used to provide information effectively. People not only watch video contents, but also search for related information to specific objects appeared in the contents. However, people have to use extra views or devices to find the information because the existing video contents provide no information through the contents. Therefore, the interaction between user and media is becoming a major concern. The demand for direct interaction and instant information is much increasing. Digital media environment is no longer expected to serve as a one-way information service, which requires user to search manually on the internet finding information they need. To solve the current inconvenience, an interactive service is needed to provide the information exchange function between people and video contents, or between people themselves. Recently, many researchers have recognized the importance of the requirements for interactive services, but only few services provide interactive video within restricted functionality. Only cooking domain is chosen for an interactive cooking video query service in this research. Cooking is receiving lots of people attention continuously. By using smart media devices, user can easily watch a cooking video. One-way information nature of cooking video does not allow to interactively getting more information about the certain contents, although due to the characteristics of videos, cooking videos provide various information such as cooking scenes and explanation for each recipe step. Cooking video indeed attracts academic researches to study and solve several problems related to cooking. However, just few studies focused on interactive services in cooking video and they still not sufficient to provide the interaction with users. In this paper, an interactive cooking video query service system with linked data to provide the interaction functionalities to users. A linked recipe schema is used to handle the linked data. The linked data approach is applied to construct queries in systematic manner when user interacts with cooking videos. We add some classes, data properties, and relations to the linked recipe schema because the current version of the schema is not enough to serve user interaction. A web crawler extracts recipe information from allrecipes.com. All extracted recipe information is transformed into ontology instances by using developed instance generator. To provide a query function, hundreds of questions in cooking video web sites such as BBC food, Foodista, Fine cooking are investigated and analyzed. After the analysis of the investigated questions, we summary the questions into four categories by question generalization. For the question generalization, the questions are clustered in eleven questions. The proposed system provides an environment associating UI (User Interface) and UX (User Experience) that allow user to watch cooking videos while obtaining the necessary additional information using extra information layer. User can use the proposed interactive cooking video system at both PC and mobile environments because responsive web design is applied for the proposed system. In addition, the proposed system enables the interaction between user and video in various smart media devices by employing linked data to provide information matching with the current context. Two methods are used to evaluate the proposed system. First, through a questionnaire-based method, computer system usability is measured by comparing the proposed system with the existing web site. Second, the answer accuracy for user interaction is measured to inspect to-be-offered information. The experimental results show that the proposed system receives a favorable evaluation and provides accurate answers for user interaction.
