Meta-Analysis of Correlation Between Subjective and Objective Cognitive-Linguistic Tests : Focused on Normal Aging, MCI, and Dementia (메타분석을 통한 주·객관적 인지-언어 평가 간 상관성 연구 : 정상 노년층, MCI, 치매 환자를 중심으로)

  • Subjective cognitive-linguistic complaints in older adults contribute to the diagnostic and prognostic investigation of MCI or dementia. However, the utility of subjective test for predicting cognitive-linguistic decline is controversial. Few domestic studies have included the correlation between subjective and objective tests systematically. The current study analyzed 26 studies published since 2000, and the effect sizes of their correlation coefficients between two tests were computed. The results of qualitative analysis indicated that the number of subjects ranged from 26 to 657. Subjective tests included the self-report 75.4% and the informant-report 24.6%. In objective tests, memory comprised the largest proportion, followed by global cognition, and language, etc. As a result of meta-analysis, self-report test had the predictive value for dementia, and informant-report test contributed to discriminate among 3 groups. In the elderly group, self-report test was correlated with reasoning, and informant-report test with memory and language. In MCIs, self-report test predicted several abilities including language, and informant-report test signaled the future decline of domains like global cognition. Two types of subjective tests in dementia also represented memory, language, and global cognition accurately. This study provides evidence-based information to support relationships between subjective and objective tests for cognitive-linguistic ability in 3 groups.

A Study on the Enhancing Recommendation Performance Using the Linguistic Factor of Online Review based on Deep Learning Technique (딥러닝 기반 온라인 리뷰의 언어학적 특성을 활용한 추천 시스템 성능 향상에 관한 연구)

  • As the online e-commerce market growing, the need for a recommender system that can provide suitable products or services to customer is emerging. Recently, many studies using the sentiment score of online review have been proposed to improve the limitations of study on recommender systems that utilize only quantitative information. However, this methodology has limitation in extracting specific preference information related to customer within online reviews, making it difficult to improve recommendation performance. To address the limitation of previous studies, this study proposes a novel recommendation methodology that applies deep learning technique and uses various linguistic factors within online reviews to elaborately learn customer preferences. First, the interaction was learned nonlinearly using deep learning technique for the purpose to extract complex interactions between customer and product. And to effectively utilize online review, cognitive contents, affective contents, and linguistic style matching that have an important influence on customer's purchasing decisions among linguistic factors were used. To verify the proposed methodology, an experiment was conducted using online review data in Amazon.com, and the experimental results confirmed the superiority of the proposed model. This study contributed to the theoretical and methodological aspects of recommender system study by proposing a methodology that effectively utilizes characteristics of customer's preferences in online reviews.

  • There are many types of linguistical system generally being used in modern society and it is essential to understand the primary components comprising the linguistical system when communication by the language system. In the linguistics point of view, the sign system has been developed from the simple linguistic symbols used by our ancestors in the ancient period, those visual linguistic sign can be so symbolize and express simply the significant meaning of it that people can understand and communicate with it so fast and easily. Therefore, the purpose of this report is how the sign system can be convenient, handy, safe, comfortable, and confusion-proof to the occupants as the public media; easily understandable to the individual by the development and constitution of effectual signage system concerning guidance, direction and safeguards in thee visual linguistics point of view. Consequently, the sign system have been studied based upon the theory of visual perception considering the cognitive and sociopsychological affects of user.
