Current 'Pronunciation Methods of Standard Korean(PMSK)' has several problems. Some of those are from conflicts with linguistic reality, and the rest are from their internal inconsistencies. So, we feel that it should be revised as soon as possible. But it seems that the revision is not the best way, because linguistic change will make us revise it continually. The only way to establish its reasonable alternative is that we should update our descriptive dictionary whenever we need to.

This paper presents methodological and theoretical principles for constructing a machine thanslation system between Korean and Japanese. We focus our discussion on the real time computing problem of the machine translation system. This problem is characterized in the time and space complexity during the machine translation. The NARA system has the real time computing algorithm which is based on a mathematical model integrating the linguistic competence and the linguistic performance of both languages, with consequence that the system NARA has also the functional characteristic : the two-way translation mechanism.

In this paper, we Propose a new computational approach to stability analysis of the linguistic control system. The FLC is assumed to be modeled as a combination of affine system. Stability is tested via the LMI. Computer simulation result is given to illustrate the validity of the suggested methodology.

This research was conducted to investigate the priming effect in Korean and English word production by Korean speakers. Picture-naming with distractors was used as experimental task. The type of target language, the type of distractor language and SOA(Stimulus Onset Asynchrony) were used as variables. Cross-linguistic priming effect and within-linguistic priming effect were mesured to investigate bilinguals' conceptual system.

The values of a linguistic variable are words, phrases, or sentences in a given language. For example, structural damage can be considered as linguistic variable with values such a 'severely damaged', 'moderately damaged', which are meaningful classifications but not clearly defined, This paper is to evaluate reasonably the correction factor of bridge capacity with the aid of fuzzy sets theory. By using the above mentioned fuzzy measure, the concept of fuzzy integral and linear membership function can be defined. It is concluded that the fuzzy sets theory cam be applied to determine reasonably the correction factor of bridge capacity.

Successful implementation of statistical process control techniques requires for operational definitions and precise measurements. Nevertheless, very often analysts can dispose of process data available only by linguistic terms, that would be a waste to neglect just because of their intrinsic vagueness. Thus a hybrid approach, which integrates fuzzy set theory and common statistical tools, sounds useful in order to improve effectiveness of statistical process control in such a case. In this work, a fuzzy approach is adopted to manage linguistic information, and the use of a Chi-squared control chart is proposed to monitor process performance.

Coverage has been a constant thorn in the side of deployed deep linguistic processing applications, largely because of the difficulty in constructing, maintaining and domaintuning the complex lexicons that they rely on. This paper reviews various strands of research on deep lexical acquisition (DLA), i.e. the (semi-)automatic creation of linguistically-rich language resources, particularly from the viewpoint of DLA for precision grammars.

Aoun and Li (1989) and Hornstein (1995) suggest that the cross-linguistic contrast in quantifier scope between English and East Asian languages is attributed to the parametric difference in the base subject position, viz. VP-internal position in English and Spec IP in East Asian languages. This paper argues that their suggestion is untenable, and that the cross linguistic contrast in question is due to the parametric difference that English permits and East Asian languages do not permit (overt) object shift.

퍼지제어기는 입.출력 관점에서 일반적으로 입.출력에 대한 비선형 함수로 볼수 있다. 전문가의 제어 행위의 입.출력 관계가 크리시(crisp) 비선형 함수로 표현되었을때 그것을 언어적 퍼지 모델링(linguistic fuzzy modelling)하는 방법이 1-입력/ 1-출력 및 2-입력/1-출력의 static 시스템에 대하여 제안되었다. 이를 위해 소속함수 제한조건(membership function constraint)의 개념을 제시하고 선형계획법에 의한 최적화 기법을 이용하여 소속함수의 생성에 관한 체계적인 방법을 제안한다.

Implementing the linguistic theories on computer, we resolve the problems for restrictions of computer and increase processing efficiency for systemization not for linguistic theory itself. Thus, we modify the grammatical theory to be applied to systems. This paper reports the various problems about constructing dictionaies, defining rules, and appling universal principles and metarules, which is caused to implement the systems based on GPSG. In semantic interpretations, logical expressions which correspond Montague grammar are acquired, and we make a rule connect with several logical expressions. And we show the efficiency of the this method through implementing parser.
