Case Reports and Studies on the Functional Process of Panic Disorder, treated with Ling-Gui-Gan-Zao-Tang (령계감조탕 투여로 치료된 공황장애 환자 사례 분석 및 처방의 작용 기전 고찰)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to find out the effectiveness of Ling-Gui-Gan-Zao-Tang for patients of panic disorder. Method : To achieve the purpose of this study, Ling-Gui-Gan-Zao-Tang was prescribed for three months to two different patients of panic disorder. They were diagnosed as panic disorder in department of neuropsychiatry, and had no other prescribed decoction or psychotherapy. Results : 1. The BAI score for anxiety were decreased in both patients, and they got improved overall symptoms. 2. In panic attack, patients are in dominant state of sympathetic nerve, so they have palpitaion and get nervous. Fu-Ling(茯笭) can treate this kind of situation. 3. Based on and , urgent situation, over-tension of muscles, hot flash can be treated Gancao(甘草), Dazao(大棗), Guizhi(桂枝) respectively. Conclusions : When panic disorder attaks, the sympathetic nerves are dominant in patient's body. So they feel palpitating, sweating, suffocating. Ling-Gui-Gan-Zao-Tang can treat this series of symptoms.

A Clinical Study on Cases of Ling-Gui-Gan-Zao-Tang using Medical Approach of Sanghan-Geumgwe in Musculoskeletal Disorders (상한금궤처방의 근골동통질환 접근법에 따른 령계감조탕 증례(證例)의 고찰(考察))

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to suggest medical approach to musculoskeletal system disorders using the decoction of Sanghan-Geumgwe. We studied cases of Ling-Gui-Gan-Zao-Tang prescribed patients to evaluate the clinical efficacy in musculoskeletal system disorders Method : We devised medical approach of Sanghan-Geumgwe in musculoskeletal disorders as follows. First, we chose ryeon-je(攣劑) and soo-je(水劑) herb medicine, commonly used in musculoskeletal disorders. In the selected herb group, we designated ryeon-je(攣劑) to be first key herbs, Soo-Je(水劑) as the second key herb, and other herb groups as third key herb. In this sequential selection and exclusion process, herbs were chosen based upon yak-neung-hyo-seon (藥能效選). Combination of those selected herbs drew pre-prescription group, finally prescription were made by the prescription criteria. Results : Based on the medical approach of decoctions of Sanghan-Geumgwe, we chose Ling-Gui-Gan-Zao-Tang to treat many kinds of musculoskeletal system disorders. And we achieved higher results on treatment for musculoskeletal system disorders. Conclusions : The medical approch using the decoctions of Sanghan-Geumgwe is very useful in choosing accurate prescriptions for patients with musculoskeletal system disorders in clinic.

A Case Report of the Patient with Anxiety Disorder following Traumatic Brain Injury Treated with Ling-Gui-Gan-Zao-Tang (외상성 뇌손상 후 불안장애 양상이 발생한 환자 1례에 대하여 영계감조탕을 투여한 증례보고)

  • Introduction: The aim of this study is to report the effect of Ling-Gui-Gan-Zao-Tang (LGGZT) effectively improves anxiety disorder following traumatic brain injury (TBI). Case Presentation: 50-year-old female with traumatic brain injury after falling down from golf cart. After injury, symptoms like anxiety disorder, diarrhea, dizziness, headache were occurred. She took medications like antidepressants, antianxiety drugs and antipsychotic agent, but symptoms deteriorated consistently. After being prescribed LGGZT, patients' symptoms were significantly improved. Result of Impact Event Scale-Revised (IES-R-K) was changed from 24 to 5 and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) was changed from 21 to 3. Also, side effects were not observed during the treatment period. Conclusion: LGGZT can be considered as an effective treatment for anxiety disorder following traumatic brain injury.
