Typical quadrotor aircraft use four differential thrust vectors to control the motion. In this study, we design a quadrotor aircraft using collective and cyclic control to improve the shortcomings of existing quadrotor aircraft. The quadrotor aircraft with cyclic control can fly at various attitudes due to the excessive control degrees of freedom. Hence the quadrotor aircraft with cyclic control is suitable as high performance aircraft. In this study, modeling and stability analysis of the quadrotor aircraft have been performed using FLIGHTLAB. LQR control systems were designed using linear models at various flight conditions and verified through nonlinear simulations using MATLAB.
Replicated data that is used for fault tolerant distributed system requires replica control protocol to maintain data consistency. The one of replica control protocols is quorum consensus method which accesses replicated data by getting majority approval. If site failure or communication link failure occurs and any one can't get quorum consensus, it degrades the availability of data managed by quorum consensus protocol. So it needs for ghost to replace the failed site. Because ghost is not full replica but process which has state information using meta data, it is important to simplify meta data. In order to maintain availability and simplify meta data, we propose a method to use cohort set as ghost's meta data. The proposed method makes it possible to organize meta data in 2N+logN bits and to have higher availability than quorum consensus only with cohort set and dynamic linear voting protocol. Using Markov model we calculate proposed method's availability to analyze availability and compare it with existing protocols.

Topographic mapping from economic SPOT stereo imagery than aerial photographs has become possible. Many of authors have studied the possibility of base map revisions and the accuracy of results. They have concluded that the SPOT image is suitable for 1/50,000 to 1/100,000 topographic map. For topographic map, orthophoto and DTM generation from SPOT imagery, accurate exterior orientation parameters are needed. But since the geometric characteristic of SPOT image is dynamic linear array imagery, the conventional bundle adjustment for photogrammetry can not be directly applied. Reliability is the ability to detect gross error, which is called the internal reliability, and the effect of non-detectable gross error on the results of exterior orientation, which is called the external reliability. This paper shows how the reliability of SPOT imagery depends on the different coordinate systems, presentations of coordinate for flight direction, orders of exterior orientation parameters and distribution of control points, and thus analyses the theoretical reliability of the exterior orientation, which can provide a basis for the planning of SPOT projects.

The load frequency control(LFC) of power system is one of important subjects in view of system operation and control. That is, even though the rapid load disturbances are applied to the given power system, the stable and reliable power should be supplied to the users, converging unconditionally and rapidly the frequency deviations and the tie-line power flow ones of each area into allowable boundary limits. Nonetheless of such needs, if the internal parameter perturbation and the sudden load variation are given, the unstable phenomena of power systems can be often brought out because of the large frequency deviation and the unsuppressible power line one. So, an optimal modulation controller for UC of multi-area power system is designed by a recursive algorithm that determines the state weighting matrix Q of a linear quadratic performance criterion. The optimal modulation controller is based on optimal control and can obtain the exact dynamic response of the UC of multi-area power system in the time domain. The performances of the resultant optimal modulation control, that is, the steady-state deviations of frequency and tie-line power flow and the related dynamics, were investigated and analyzed in detail by being applied to the UC of multi-area power system in the perturbations of predetermined internal parameters. Through the simulation results tried variously in this paper for disturbance of stepwise load changes, the superiorities of the proposed optimal modulation controller in robustness and stability were proved.
The change of the global performance of a turret-moored FPSO (Floating Production Storage Offloading) with DP (Dynamic Positioning) control is simulated, analyzed, and compared for two different internal turret location cases; bow and midship. Both collinear and non-collinear 100-yr GOM (Gulf of Mexico) storm environments and three cases (mooring-only, with DP position control, with DP position+heading control) are considered. The horizontal trajectory, 6DOF (degree of freedom) motions, fairlead mooring and riser tension, and fuel consumptions are compared. The PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) controller based on LQR (linear quadratic regulator) theory and the thrust-allocation algorithm which is based on the penalty optimization theory are implemented in the fully-coupled time-domain hull-mooring-riser-DP simulation program. Both in collinear and non-collinear 100-yr WWC (wind-wave-current) environments, the advantage of mid-ship turret is demonstrated by the significant reduction in heave at the turret location due to the minimal coupling with pitch mode, which is beneficial to mooring and riser design. However, in the non-collinear WWC environment, the mid-turret case exhibits unfavorable weathervaning characteristics, which can be reduced by employing DP position and heading controls as demonstrated in the present case studies. The present study also reveals the plausible cause of the failure of mid-turret Gryphon Alpha FPSO in milder environment than its survival condition.
This paper discusses the state-of-the-art techniques in real-time state estimation for the Smart Microgrids. The most popular method used in traditional power system state estimation is a Weighted Least Square(WLS) algorithm which is based on Maximum Likelihood(ML) estimation under the assumption of static system state being a set of deterministic variables. In this paper, we present a survey of dynamic state estimation techniques for Smart Microgrids based on Belief Propagation (BP) when the system state is a set of stochastic variables. The measurements are often too sparse to fulfill the system observability in the distribution network of microgrids. The BP algorithm calculates posterior distributions of the state variables for real-time sparse measurements. Smart Microgrids are modeled as a factor graph suitable for characterizing the linear correlations among the state variables. The state estimator performs the BP algorithm on the factor graph based the stochastic model. The factor graph model can integrate new models for solar and wind correlation. It provides the Smart Microgrids with a way of integrating the distributed renewable energy generation. Our study on Smart Microgrid state estimation can be extended to the estimation of unbalanced three phase distribution systems as well as the optimal placement of smart meters.

It is critical to forecast the maximum daily and monthly demand for power with as little error as possible for our industry and national economy. In general, long-term forecasting of power demand has been studied from both the consumer's perspective and an econometrics model in the form of a generalized linear model with predictors. Time series techniques are used for short-term forecasting with no predictors as predictors must be predicted prior to forecasting response variables and containing estimation errors during this process is inevitable. In previous researches, seasonal exponential smoothing method, SARMA (Seasonal Auto Regressive Moving Average) with consideration to weekly pattern Neuron-Fuzzy model, SVR (Support Vector Regression) model with predictors explored through machine learning, and K-means clustering technique in the various approaches have been applied to short-term power supply forecasting. In this paper, SARMA and intervention model are fitted to forecast the maximum power load daily, weekly, and monthly by using the empirical data from 2011 through 2013. $ARMA(2,\;1,\;2)(1,\;1,\;1)_7$ and $ARMA(0,\;1,\;1)(1,\;1,\;0)_{12}$ are fitted respectively to the daily and monthly power demand, but the weekly power demand is not fitted by AREA because of unit root series. In our fitted intervention model, the factors of long holidays, summer and winter are significant in the form of indicator function. The SARMA with MAPE (Mean Absolute Percentage Error) of 2.45% and intervention model with MAPE of 2.44% are more efficient than the present seasonal exponential smoothing with MAPE of about 4%. Although the dynamic repression model with the predictors of humidity, temperature, and seasonal dummies was applied to foretaste the daily power demand, it lead to a high MAPE of 3.5% even though it has estimation error of predictors.

A recursive algorithms for prediction of streamflows by Kalman filtering theory and Self-tuning predictor based on the state space description of the dynamic systems have been studied and the applicabilities of the algorithms to the rainfall-runoff processes have been investigated. For the representation of the dynamics of the processes, a low-order ARMA process has been taken as the linear discrete time system with white Gaussian disturbances. The state vector in the prediction model formulated by a random walk process. The model structures have been determined by a statistical analysis for residuals of the observed and predicted streamflows. For the verification of the prediction algorithms developed here, the observed historical data of the hourly rainfall and streamflows were used. The numerical studies shows that Kalman filtering theory has better performance than the Self-tuning predictor for system identification and prediction in rainfall-runoff processes.
A method was developed using enhanced liquid chromatography coupled with electrospray ionization mass spectrometry for the analysis and quantitation of 2 main potato glycoalkaloids, $\alpha$-chaconine, and $\alpha$-solanine, without any pre-concentration or derivatisation steps. Calibration curves generated by this technique exhibited a linear dynamic range from 0.025 to $50{\mu}g/mL$ and from 0.05 to $50{\mu}g/mL$ for $\alpha$-chaconine and $\alpha$-solanine, respectively. Matrix effects were evaluated by comparing calibration curves measured in matrix-matched and solvent-based systems. Ion suppression due to matrix effects was weak and extraction recoveries of 88 to 114% were obtained in different sample matrices spiked with analyte concentrations ranging from 15 to $35{\mu}g/mL$. Potatoes that had been genetically modified to tolerate glufosinate contained the same glycoalkaloid levels as their non-transgenic counterpart. We suggest complementing compositional comparison assessment strategy by validating quantitative analytical methods for the toxic glycoalkaloids in potato plants.
This paper deals with determining the fundamental frequency of tall buildings that consist of framed tube, shear core, belt truss and outrigger systems in which the framed tube and shear core vary in size along the height of the structure. The effect of belt truss and outrigger system is modeled as a concentrated rotational linear spring at the belt truss and outrigger system location. Many cantilevered tall structures can be treated as cantilevered beams with variable cross-section in free vibration analysis. In this paper, the continuous approach, in which a tall building is replaced by an idealized cantilever continuum representing the structural characteristics, is employed and by using energy method and Hamilton's variational principle, the governing equation for free vibration of tall building with variable distributed mass and stiffness is obtained. The general solution of governing equation is obtained by making appropriate selection for mass and stiffness distribution functions. By applying the separation of variables method for time and space, the governing partial differential equation of motion is reduced to an ordinary differential equation with variable coefficients with the assumption that the transverse displacement is harmonic. A power-series solution representing the mode shape function of tall building is used. Applying boundary conditions yields the boundary value problem; the frequency equation is established and solved through a numerical process to determine the natural frequencies. Computer program has been developed in Matlab (R2009b, Version 7.9.0.529, Mathworks Inc., California, USA). A numerical example has been solved to demonstrate the reliability of this method. The results of the proposed mathematical model give a good understanding of the structure's dynamic characteristics; it is easy to use, yet reasonably accurate and suitable for quick evaluations during the preliminary design stages.
