Neural Networks for Optimization Problem with Nonlinear Constraints (비선형제한조건을 갖는 최적화문제 신경회로망)

  • Hopfield introduced the neural network for linear program with linear constraints. In this paper, Hopfield neural network has been generalized to solve the optimization problems including nonlinear constraints. Also, it has been discussed the methods hew to reconcile optimization problem with neural networks and how to implement the circuits.

  • Recently, International Association Classification Societies (IACS) has adopted the Common Structural Rules (CSR) for Bulk Carriers and Tankers, which specifies the requirement associated with the ultimate strength of hull girder structure. The theoretical background and the results of verification study are neither well summarized nor released. Furthermore, the requirement is not a form of deterministic formula but a form of program in which source code is not disclosed. The reliability of the non-linear structural analysis program is verified through the comparison with the results of the analysis and the model test. Then, the reliability of the ultimate strength requirement in CSR is checked by comparing with the results of rigorous non-linear analysis.

A Study on Determination of Optimal Incentives of DSM Programs by Linear Programming (선형계획법에 의한 수요관리 프로그램의 최적 지원금 결정에 관한 연구)

  • A lot of DSM (Demand Side Management) programs have been implemented to promote the effective utilization of resources and the rational development of power industry, and various economic analyses and policy-based studies on DSM have been executed to determine effective subsidy budget. In this paper, a new objective function for deciding an optimal incentive allocation among various programs is presented by introducing the maximization of the total saving power of the programs. For simplicity, the objective function and the constraints is linearized to apply LP(Linear Programming) method. LP program based on Simplex Method was developed by MATLAB. An optimal incentive allocation of 4 DSM programs is presented by the use of the developed MATLAB program.

Efficient Parallel CUDA Random Number Generator on NVIDIA GPUs (NVIDIA GPU 상에서의 난수 생성을 위한 CUDA 병렬프로그램)

  • In this paper, we implemented a parallel random number generation program on GPU's, which are known for high performance computing, using LCG (Linear Congruential Generator). Random numbers are important in all fields requiring the use of randomness, and LCG is one of the most widely used methods for the generation of pseudo-random numbers. We explained the parallel program using the NVIDIA CUDA model and MPI(Message Passing Interface) and showed uniform distribution and performance results. We also used a Monte Carlo algorithm to calculate pi(${\pi}$) comparing the parallel random number generator with cuRAND, which is a CUDA library function, and showed that our program is much more efficient. Finally we compared performance results using multi-GPU's with those of ideal speedups.

  • In this study, GNLP(GIS linked non-linear network analysis program) for pipeline system analysis has been developed. This GNLP gets the input data for pipeline analysis from existing GIS(geographic information system) data automatically, and has GUI(graphic user interface) for user. Non-Linear Method was used for hydraulic analysis of pipe network based on Hazen-Williams equation, and Microsoft Access of relational database management system(RDBMS) was used for the framework of database applied program. GNLP system environment program was improved so that a pipe network designer can input information data for hydraulic analysis of pipeline system more easily than that of existing models. Furthermore this model generate output such as pressure and water quantities in the form of a table and a chart, and also produces output data in Excel file. This model is also able to display data effectively for analysed data confirmation and query function which is the core of GIS program.

Robust Design of Air Compressor-Driving Quadratic Linear Actuator in Fuel Cell BOP System using Taguchi Method

  • The linear actuator has the inherent drawback of air gap variation because its linear motion is usually guided by the springs, which destabilizes the dynamic performance. In order to design the linear actuator to be insensitive to air gap, this paper describes the robust design of the air compressor driving linear actuator using Taguchi method. The orthogonal arrays are constructed with selected control factors and noise factor for minimum experiment. The control factors are thickness of inner magnet, height of upper yoke, thickness of outer magnet and thickness of lower yoke while noise factor is airgap. The finite element analysis using commercial electromagnetic analysis program "MAXWELL" are performed instead of experiment. ANOVA are performed to investigate the effects of design factors. In result, the optimal robust linear actuator which is insensitive to air gap variation is designed.

  • This paper presents a new hybrid approach for nonlinear dynamic analysis of the soil-structure interaction system in the time domain. It employs, in a practical manner, a linear SSI program and a general-purpose nonlinear finite element program. In order to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the proposed method, seismic response analyses are carried out for a free-field problem and a 2-D subway station. The results indicate that the proposed methodology gives reasonable solution for the linear/nonlinear SSI problem utilizing a general-purpose finite element program. Some further studies will endorse the applicability of the method to various soil-structure interaction problems.

Mathcad program as a useful tool for the teaching and studying the sport biomechanics (운동역학의 교육과 연구용 도구로서 Mathcad의 유용성)

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the usefulness of the Mathcad program as a tool for the studying and teaching the sport biomechanics. A projectile motion was analyzed because it is the one of the most popular motion in sports activities. A 3 dimensional CG data for the high jump bar clear phase was used to calculate the initial velocity vector of the CG. Linear regression function and other functions such as cubic spline and derivative of Mathcad were used to calculate this vector. Finally, the approach angle to the bar and peak jump height was calculated. Programming in Mathcad was relatively easy compare to traditional computer language such as Fortran and C, because of the unique documentation method of Mathcad. Additionally the 2 and 3 dimensional graph function was very easy and useful to describe the mechanical data. If the use of Mathcad program is more popular in the field of sport biomechanics, it could greatly contribute to overcome the limit of research caused by the lack of proper programming ability.

Linear and Circular Interpolation for 2-Dimensional Contouring Control (2次元 輪곽制御 를 위한 直線 및 圓통補間)

  • The interpolator is usually built in hardware (logic circuitry), and the interpolator fabricated in a single LSI chip is recently made use of in most NC controllers, making the system more compact. However, the LSI interpolator not only has the technical difficulties but also requires high cost, in its fabrication. To solve these problems, we tried to find the method of interpolation by software, and succeeded in developing a program which, executed by INTEL's 8085 microprocessor, can distribute the input pulses of up to 4.0 [Kpps] for the linear interpolation and 3.0 [Kpps] for the circular interpolation. This paper presents the algorithm used to reduce the execution time and the flow chart of the interpolation program, and also shows the possibility of software interpolation. The interpolation program designed in assembly language is presented in the appendix.

Relationship between Self-Esteem and Stress among Adolescents (청소년 시기별 자아존중감과 스트레스 간의 관련성 비교)

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between self-esteem and stress among adolescents. Methods: The subjects of this study were 1,025 from elementary, middle and high school students in Dangjin city. Data were measured using self-esteem scale and brief encounter psychosocial instrument. The data were analyzed frequencies, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple linear regression analysis using the SPSS 12.0 program. Results: Self-esteem was correlated with stress negatively among adolescents. In multiple linear regression analysis, self-esteem had a statistically significant negative effect on stress. Affecting factors of the self-esteem in all schools were grades, economic status and relationship with parents. Conclusion: The results of this study help to provide a basis for the development of a self-esteem management program to alleviate the stress for adolescents. The program of human relationship should be developed and provided to improve the self-esteem.
