The vibrational behavior of nanoelements is critical in determining how a nanostructure behaves. However, combining vibrational analysis with stability analysis allows for a more comprehensive knowledge of a structure's behavior. As a result, the goal of this research is to characterize the behavior of nonlocal nanocyndrical beams with uniform and nonuniform cross sections. The nonuniformity of the beams is determined by three distinct section functions, namely linear, convex, and exponential functions, with the length and mass of the beams being identical. For completely clamped, fully pinned, and cantilever boundary conditions, Eringen's nonlocal theory is combined with the Timoshenko beam model. The extended differential quadrature technique was used to solve the governing equations in this research. In contrast to the other boundary conditions, the findings of this research reveal that the nonlocal impact has the opposite effect on the frequency of the uniform cantilever nanobeam. Furthermore, since the mass of the materials employed in these nanobeams is designed to remain the same, the findings may be utilized to help improve the frequency and buckling stress of a resonator without requiring additional material, which is a cost-effective benefit.
In re-assessing the Jacket-type fixed steel structures, the current standards often allow the simplicity of corrosion sections using local buckling or equivalent section approach to applying empirical formulae of frame stress and resistance analyses. However, those approaches can lead to significant errors for non-uniform corroded frames in a specific area, including force distribution, stress, and allowable strength of the tubular section, compared to the actual cases. This paper investigates a suitable approach to determine the actual stress on non-uniform corroded tubular frames under compression through the non-linear ABAQUS model by considering the effect of large deformation on the frame axis and the frame section. There are 3 scenarios of interest. In the 1st and 2nd scenarios with simple corrosion cases, the stress ratios using the numerical model and theoretical formulae correspond to the calculation of allowable strength reduction ratios in standards. However, scenario 3, which describes non-uniform corroded sections based on survey data, provides considerable differences in results. Therefore, it proves the reliable and effective results when using this method to analyze the resistance of the actual corroded section in the Jacket platforms.
The present study conducts a thorough analysis of thermal vibrations in functionally graded porous nanocomposite beams within a thermal setting. Investigating the temperature-dependent material properties of these beams, which continuously vary across their thickness in accordance with a power-law function, a finite element approach is developed. This approach utilizes a nonlocal strain gradient theory and accounts for a linear temperature rise. The analysis employs four different patterns of porosity distribution to characterize the functionally graded porous materials. A novel two-variable shear deformation beam nonlocal strain gradient theory, based on trigonometric functions, is introduced to examine the combined effects of nonlocal stress and strain gradient on these beams. The derived governing equations are solved through a 3-nodes beam element. A comprehensive parametric study delves into the influence of structural parameters, such as thicknessratio, beam length, nonlocal scale parameter, and strain gradient parameter. Furthermore, the study explores the impact of thermal effects, porosity distribution forms, and material distribution profiles on the free vibration of temperature-dependent FG nanobeams. The results reveal the substantial influence of these effects on the vibration behavior of functionally graded nanobeams under thermal conditions. This research presents a finite element approach to examine the thermo-mechanical behavior of nonlocal temperature-dependent FG nanobeams, filling the gap where analytical results are unavailable.

High speed planning boats also have been required more and more the rational strength analysis and evaluation for the optimal structural design in respect of the structural lightness according to the high speed trend. Even though the suggestion of the simple type equation for the equivalent dynamic pressure is reasonable to design the scantling of ship structure conveniently, many research activities for more reasonable improvement of the simple design pressure, have been continued to suggest the more accurate equivalent static description of tire structural response such as the deflection and stress of hull structure. In this research, we focus on the aluminum bottom stiffened plate structure in which structural scantling is mainly depend on the local loads such as dynamic or impact pressure without other load effects and structural response for the simple dynamic equivalent pressure was investigated through the structural analysis. In order to investigate the structural response of the bottom stiffened plate structure subjected to the dynamic equivalent design pressure, linear and nonlinear structural analysis of the bottom stiffened plate structure of 4.3 ton aluminum planning boat was performed based on the equivalent static applied loads which were derived from the KR regulation and representative one among various dynamic equivalent pressure equations. From above analysis results, we found that the response such as deflection and stress of plate member was similar with the response results of one plate member model with fixed boundary, which was published previous paper and in case of KR design loading, all response of stiffened plate structure were within elastic limit. Through the nonlinear analysis, nearly elastic behavior including the slight geometrical nonlinear response was dominant but plastic local zone was appeared at $85\%$ limit load. Therefore, we can say that through tire linear and nonlinear analysis, this stiffened plate member has no structural strength problem based on the yield criteria in case within $60\%$ limit load except the other strength point of view such as the fatigue and buckling problem.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of covering yarn's twist on mechanical properties of knitted fabrics of composite yarns with single covering process. Four yarns that were used in this study: two different composite yarns made from the four kinds of cotton and functional polyester-(Poly-A) with the ratio of 52:48, and the rest two yarns are the original cotton 100% yarn and the poly-A 100% yarn. The two kinds of composite yarns, CP1 and CP2, were processed on the single covering process. CP1 was applied on the single covering process with S-800 tpm, where Poly-A was used as covering yarn and cotton was used as core yarn. CP2 was applied on the same process as CP1 except that Poly-A had been applied on the two-for-one twisting process with S-400 tpm on the previous step. Sixteen mechanical properties of all the four knifed fabrics knitted under the same knitting conditions were measured by KES-FB system with the outer knit condition. And 3D CAD dressmaking simulations, which were driven by some of the mechanical properties, were presented. The results were as follows: CP2 had high RT values with twisting of covering yarn. CP2 also had high B, 2HB values because of higher linear density. SMD was affected rather by twisting of covering yarn than by fine hair of the cotton surface. Twisting of covering yarn made it decreasing T value and increasing W value. Dressmaking 3D CAD simulations showed that there are buckling effects on CP2 because of high bending rigidity and shear rigidity.
When precast concrete infill panels are connected to steel frames at discrete locations, interaction at the structural interface is neither complete nor absent. The contribution of precast concrete infill panels to the lateral stiffness and strength of steel frames can be significant depending on the quality, quantity and location of the discrete interface connections. This paper presents preliminary experimental and finite element results of an investigation into the composite behaviour of a square steel frame with a precast concrete infill panel subject to lateral loading. The panel is connected at the corners to the ends of the top and bottom beams. The Frame-to-Panel-Connection, FPC4 between steel beam and concrete panel consists of two parts. A T-section with five achor bars welded to the top of the flange is cast in at the panel corner at a forty five degree angle. The triangularly shaped web of the T-section is reinforced against local buckling with a stiffener plate. The second part consists of a triangular gusset plate which is welded to the beam flange. Two bolts acting in shear connect the gusset plate to the web of the T-section. This way the connection can act in tension or compression. Experimental pull-out tests on individual connections allowed their load deflection characteristics to be established. A full scale experiment was performed on a one-storey one-bay 3 by 3 m infilled frame structure which was horizontally loaded at the top. With the characteristics of the frame-to-panel connections obtained from the experiments on individual connections, finite element analyses were performed on the infilled frame structures taking geometric and material non-linear behaviour of the structural components into account. The finite element model yields reasonably accurate results. This allows the model to be used for further parametric studies.

Common structural rule (CSR) doesn' t provide any other specific regulations for permanent means of access (PMA) platform structure in a cargo oil tank. The PMA platform is recommended to comply with scantling requirement of local support member. However, it leads to too conservative scantlings compared with actual loads imposed on the platform. This paper proposes a strength assessment procedure for the PMA structure based on a nonlinear ultimate strength. The ultimate strength is evaluated in a sufficiently conservative way. The first linear buckling mode is used as an initial imperfection shape and its magnitude is determined using the definitions of DNV PULS. Since the same imperfection mode as the failure mode of the ultimate limit state is assumed, it can accelerate the failure. Au ultimate strength capacity curve obtained from a series of nonlinear FE analysis is compared with actual stresses calculated by CSR cargo hold analysis.
The stability analysis for CWR is difficult in the theory itself because both geometric and material nonlinearity should be considered. Also the analysis results are varied according to the loading history. In contrast to the complexity in the theory, the analysis results for CWR on the railway bridges are quite simple and can be predicted because of a small buckling effect and its negligible nonlinearity. In this study, refined nonlinear analysis methods for the stability analysis of CWR on the railway bridges were developed which consider only material nonlinearity beeause the effects of geometric nonlinearity are nominal. In this study, the analysis results can be found within limited number of iterations with idealized linear force-displacement relationship. From the analysis result comparisons, it was found that the stability analysis for CWR on the railway bridges can be performed effectively by this method.

Unlike the structure which has a homogeneous material property, a composite structure is coupled with materials which have different properties, namely, steel and concrete. At actual modeling, the real behavior cannot be predicted without consideration of those material characteristics. Therefore, by putting the interface element between concrete and steel, a slip of steel and concrete is made predictable. Interface element can be used properly not by an ordinary constitutive relation, but by a non-linear constitutive relation considering actual adhesion and slip. A contact surface between plate-shape steel box and concrete is described by using this interface element. Furthermore, because the general 8 node conforming element is inappropriate for describing a bending buckling behavior of steel box, the EAS(Enhanced Assumed Strain) solid-shell element is used to describe a bending behavior of plate-shape steel box.

The governing equation and force-displacement rotations of a beam-column element on elastic foundation we derived based on variational approach of total potential energy. An exact static and dynamic 4×4 element stiffness matrix of the beam-column element is established via a generalized lineal-eigenvalue problem by introducing 4 displacement parameters and a system of linear algebraic equations with complex matrices. The structure stiffness matrix is established by the conventional direct stiffness method. In addition the F. E. procedure is presented by using Hermitian polynomials as shape function and evaluating the corresponding elastic and geometric stiffness and the mass matrix. In order to verify the efficiency and accuracy of the beam-column element using exact dynamic stiffness matrix, buckling loads and natural frequencies are calculated for the continuous beam structures and the results are compared with F E. solutions.
