Design Improvement of Carrier Finger on Sheet Metal Forming Line for the Prevention of Scratch (판재 스크래치 저감을 위한 제관 라인 이송 핑거 접촉부의 설계 개선)

  • In this study, we developed a new carrier finger to prevent scratches in a sheet metal forming line. The developed carrier finger was designed to have a streamlined shape with a larger radius of curvature at the edges, as well as a smaller contact area. To evaluate the scratch alleviation effect, a sliding contact analysis and scratch test using the pin on a plate wear tester were conducted for both the old and new carrier fingers. The results show that, for both transverse and longitudinal movements of the strip, the newly designed carrier finger reduces both the friction and scratch depth by its streamlined shape, which decreases the pressure spike at the edge.

A Study on the Waist Dart of Front Bodice Pattern according to Body Surace Changes at Arm Movements (팔동작시 체표변화에 따른 앞길원형의 허리다트에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigates and analyzes the amount and shape of the front waist dart of the bodice and investigates the dart division method by bust size. Measurements at 5 arm positions were taken from 15 subjects. Clothing tests were given to 6 of the subjects. The conclusions were as follows: 1) Front Body surface changes were occurred around armpit and they were caused by the wrinkles of the armpit 2) The curved dart line was more appropriate for use with C cup, the large bust body, than the linear line. The changes of the dart amount at arm movements had different types by bust size. 3) Patterns for A & C cup body were adequate to divide the dart amount by 3 darts such as under the B.P., under the anterior armpit and side line, or to aggregate to 1 dart under the B.P. For the B cup body, however, the suitable pattern to use was the total dart amount divided by 1~2 darts and decreasing the waist line at the side line should be avoided.

Analyzing deformity of human backs based on 3-D topographic reconstruction from moire images

  • A technique is presented for evaluating spinal deformity of a human back by extracting a spinal line based on 3-D topograpic reconstruction of the back from its moire image. A given moire image is differentiatedby DOG filter to extract moire stripes. The stripes are then assigned labels and the labels are interpolated by the Lagrange polynomial to yield the undulation of the back which gives a relative 3-D shape of the back. A valley is searched on the undulation near the middle part of the back and the valley line is finally extracted as an approximated spinal line. The mean differenceand the variance between the spinal line and the middle line are calculated and reported. Experiment is performed employing real moire images ofjunior-high school students' backs and some of the results are shown with discussion.

  • In order to scheme the optimal assumption that satisfies the travel demand, it should be review the elements that affect on determining the headway, which are signal systems, line shape, vehicle(Light Rail Transit) performance, and so on. When applying the conventional signal systems, including Fixed Block System and Moving Block System, It was confirmed whether or not satisfy the requirements of target line with the way of a numerical formula reviewing and Train performance Simulation on the main line, station, depot, and so forth. Therefore, it should be used as references that decide target line and each sub-system after identifying the compliances for Minimum Headway to Moving Block System.

  • In this paper, a computer-vision based pipe-inspection algorithm is developed. The algorithm uses the modified Hough transformation and a line-scanning approach to identify the edge line and radius of the pipe image, from which the eccentricity and dimension of the pipe-end is calculated. Line and circle detection was performed using Laplace operator with input image, which are acquired from the front and side cameras. In order to minimize the memory usage and the processing time, a clustering method with the modified Hough transformation for line detection. The dimension of inner and outer radius of pipe is calculated by proposed line-scanning method. The method scans several lines along the X and Y axes, calculating the eccentricity of inner and outer circle, by which pipes with wrong end-shape can be classified removed.

  • Recently, Basic patterns with excellent body fitness and automation availability are required to be developed in order to automate the patterns of women's clothes. In this study, this reference points, reference lines and segments were fixed onto 3D scan data for the lower body the women in their twenties, they were directly spread out to be 2D flat pattern to facilitate development into the design of slacks adhered closely to the human body such as special and highly-functional clothes, and then slacks 2D pattern was developed for the purpose of seeking scientific approach to the development into basic form slacks and 3d emotional pattern. For conversion of 3D pattern into 2D flat pattern, reference points and segments were created by using Rapid Form of 3D shape analysis software, and triangle mesh of the body surface of the created shape was developed with Auto CAD 2005. The correspondence between slacks and human body was examined by the fixation of major reference lines. Specially, the wearing characteristics of slacks were considered by the fixation of side lines in consideration of posture. As a result of using the way of development to constantly maintain the length while 3D triangle mesh is converted into 2D flat mesh, the shape was shown to be excellently reproduced, and the area of flat pattern was increased compared to the shape of parting plane. Also, the sunk-in curve like the brief line of front crotch length needed a cutting line when it was closely adhered, when mesh was overlapped, and the pattern area was smaller compared to the actual shape.

An effective classification method for TFT-LCD film defect images using intensity distribution and shape analysis (명암도 분포 및 형태 분석을 이용한 효과적인 TFT-LCD 필름 결함 영상 분류 기법)

  • In order to increase the productivity in manufacturing TFT-LCD(thin film transistor-liquid crystal display), it is essential to classify defects that occur during the production and make an appropriate decision on whether the product with defects is scrapped or not. The decision mainly depends on classifying the defects accurately. In this paper, we present an effective classification method for film defects acquired in the panel production line by analyzing the intensity distribution and shape feature of the defects. We first generate a binary image for each defect by separating defect regions from background (non-defect) regions. Then, we extract various features from the defect regions such as the linearity of the defect, the intensity distribution, and the shape characteristics considering intensity, and construct a referential image database that stores those feature values. Finally, we determine the type of a defect by matching a defect image with a referential image in the database through the matching cost function between the two images. To verify the effectiveness of our method, we conducted a classification experiment using defect images acquired from real TFT-LCD production lines. Experimental results show that our method has achieved highly effective classification enough to be used in the production line.

  • In shipyard, plate forming is widely used to form the ship hull plate in various shapes. Line heating method by using a flame torch is one of the major shipbuilding processes carried out by skilled workers. Since the forming characteristics depend upon their experiences in manual forming, there are much variations between products and difficulties in communication between engineers and workers. Hence, it needs to develop an automatic forming system which can not only reduce the working time and rework costs but also improve the working environment and hull forming productivity. One of the final goals of plate forming automation is to form a target shape from the initial plate automatically. For automated plate forming, it is required to determine where and how to heat on the plate. To realize this procedure, the inverse problem should be first solved and the effect of curvature shape formed at the heating path should be investigated. In this study, the inverse problem was solved by geometrical approach using the relationship between bending angle and radius of curvature of the curved shape. In addition, experiments of two-dimensional plate forming were performed with the distance-based method considering the curved bending with curvature. The result of the formed shape agreed considerably well with the target shape.

Development of On-line Monitoring System for Shape Memory Alloy Composite (형상기억복합재료에 대한 온라인 모니터링 시스템 개발)

  • A hot press method was use for the optimal manufacturing condition for a shape memory alloy(SMA) composite. The bonding between the matrix and the reinforcement within the SMA composite by the hot press method was strengthened by cold rolling. In this study, the objective was to develop an on-line monitoring system for the prevention of the crack initiation and propagation by shape memory effort of SMA composite. Shape memory effect was used to prevent the SMA composite from cracking. For the system to be developed, an optimal hE parameter should be determined based on the degree of damage and crack initiation. When the SHA composite was heated by the plate heater attached at the composite, the propagating cracks appeared to be controlled by the compressive force of SMA.
