  • In case of the infinite body containing a rigid inclusion with line crack shape, stress intensity factor is determined and the relation between stress intensity factor and stress distribution near a crack tip is developed. Also, the relation between stress intensity factor and Kolosoff stress function is developed. Finally, these results are compared with those that the crack surface is under no traction.

  • We have studied the characteristics of Raman scattering spectroscopy from $_ZnS{1-x}Te_x$ alloys in the whole range of Te composition x. The Raman spectra showed two-mode behaviors for those alloys. The Raman line shape showed the changes of an asymmetry and broadening of that with Te composition x. The asymmetric broadening of the line shape could be explained with a spatial correlation model.

  • IC lead frame needs the precision shape for good efficiency. In the blanking process, there are many parameter effected the dimensional accuracy : lead width, blanking order, striper force, tool clearance etc. In this research, the4 undesirable defects appeared in the final blanking process. so we measured the deflection of lead according to the stripper force using $PAM-STAMP_{TM}$. In the result, the deflection was decreased by increasing the stripper force properly. and we changed the blanking order on the test model. In the blanking order, deflection is good from the outer line position blanking to center line position. so we can design the precision die without tryout by the prediction of the lead deflection.

  • Systematic geometrical variation method of hull forms, such as "1 -Cp", "Swinging" and "Lackenby" are widely used in the early stage of a new design from those of a similar parent ship, which shows a better performance through the model test and/or sea trials. This method is simple and easy to modify original hull forms without changing the main characteristics. The shape of the prismatic curie can be easily varied by these methods, however, the frame line shape in the body plan can′t be generated easily, when the section shapes are complicated or have discontinuities or the mismatch of the body plan and the stem and stern profiles. To overcome this drawback of the hull form variations, a simple and useful method has been proposed in the present study.

  • The methodology to design initial blanks considering the reduction of both springback and flange trimming amounts is studied. Three dimensional forming analysis of a trial blank Is first carried out using FEM and the tentative Initial blank shape is then determined by cutting the outer edge of the trial blank whose shape is nearly matched with the trimming line. During the shaping the blank edge, tile movement of blank outer line is described with random variables to reduce the sensitivity of initial blank geometry. After performing 2-D FEM forming and springback simulations for selected sections and optimizing the trimming and springback amounts in terms of section length of the blank, the initial blank is finally determined. In order to see tile springback reduction in the initial blank determined by the proposed method, a stepped s-rail is stamped and the sppingback is measured. The springback of newly designed initial blank of stopped s-tail is tremendously reduced.

  • This study is a basic research to develop kit and program for fashion psychotherapy, a new genre of therapy. Symptom checklist, self-esteem evaluation, interpersonal relationship problem evaluation and fashion preference evaluation were conducted on 159 college students in Seoul. The results were analyzed with t-test and one-way ANOVA. The result showed that first, warm color preference was significantly high in interpersonal problem among psychological problems. Second, smooth material preference was significantly high in paranoia among psychological problems. Third, differences in design preferences by psychological problems were not significant. Fourth, differences in design preferences between abnormal range and normal range of psychological problems were significant in line shape, with depression abnormal group showing significantly high straight line preference. Additionally, complex shape preference was significant in complexity in somatization and phobia abnormal groups. This study can be utilized in kit development for a new field, fashion psychotherapy. This study is significant as practical basic data in constructing fashion psychotherapy program.

  • Rapid Prototyping (RP) techniques have their unique characteristics according to the working principles: stair-stepped surface of parts due to layer-by-layer stacking, low build speed caused by line-by-line solidification to build one layer, and additional post processing to improve surface roughness, so it is required very high cost to introduce and to maintain RP apparatus. The objective of this study is to develop and design a new RP process, Variable Lamination Manufacturing using expandable polystyrene foam sheet as part material (VLM-S), which can make up for the disadvantage of existing techniques, and to develop an apparatus to implement the process. In order to examine the possibility of practical utilization of the proposed VLM-S process for prototyping of a general three-dimensional shape, an auto-shift lever knob and a pyramid shape were fabricated.

  • An experimental modeling of cutting and structural dynamics and the on-line detection of malfunction process is substantial not only for the investigation of the static and dynamic characteristics of cutting process but also for the analytic realization of diagnostic systems. In this regard, We have discussed on the comparative assessment of two recursive time series modeling algorithms that can represent the machining process and detect the abnormal machining behaviors in precision round shape machining such as turning, drilling and boring in mold and die making. In this study, simulation and experimental work were performed to show the malfunctioned behaviors. For this purpose, two new recursive approach (REIVM, RLSM) were adopted fur the on-line system identification and monitoring of a machining process, we can apply these new algorithm in real process for the detection of abnormal machining behaviors such as chipping, chatter, wear and round shape lobe waviness.

  • In this study, the axial-compressor design and performance/flow analysis program is developed. A mean-line analysis was used to determine optimum arrangement of overall geometry and its off-design performance is predicted by stage-stacking method. Three dimensional blade shape is generated using radial equilibrium equation and vortex methods. Various blade shape is generated and their performance is compared. Finally the quasi-three dimensional flow analysis is applied to investigate the detailed flow phenomena.

  • The present simulation focuses on the effect of the shape of capillary tube-suction line heat exchangers(SLHX), The results in the three cases of the SLHX types show that both of the location and length of heat exchange section influence the coefficient of performance(COP) and cooling capacity. Simulation shows the COP may be improved by 4.6% and the cooling capacity may be improved by 13.6% in the Lateral type.
