Channel Design of Decanter-Type Centrifuge (II) - Particles' Sediment and the Bowl Length (원심분리기의 채널 설계(II) - 입자의 침강문제와 보울 길이)

  • In this paper, based on the concept of solid particles' sediment problem the working formula determining the bowl length of a Decanter-type centrifuge were derived. Assuming that particles are uniformly distributed along the vertical line of the liquid inlet position, it was possible to derive a constant value k used for determining the bowl length. It was shown from the sample calculations that the bowl length should be increased as the particle size to be removed from the liquid is decreased. The length also should be increased for the same particle size as the bowl diameter is decreased. To help the engineers choose a reasonable bowl diameter, the statistical relationship between the bowl diameter and the capacity of the international products is obtained and presented.

  • It is to show the problems of the existing techniques to estimate agricultural water demand and to suggest the new methods considering the water demand for non-irrigated area and decrease of water loss in canal. It is to suggest the methods to improve the techniques for estimating agricultural water demand and to analyze the water demand and supply according to the facilities capacity. Until now, the concept of per the unit used to estimate agriculture water demand is useful to estimate demand, but is insufficient to cope with the variations of conditions in future. And the paddy area of government is not realistic against a trend of decrease. Water demand decrease is caused by constructions of irrigation facilities as constructing of irrigation canal, but application loss ratio is fixed. Increase of the water demand owing to the increase of the yield per the unit area is also the actual condition which is not considered. The guide-line must contain these contents for a demand estimate.

  • Power system restoration following a massive blackout starts with re-energizing primary restorative transmission systems at first. The comparison of the TLCC(transmission line charging capacity) and the RPC(reactive power capability) of related black-start generator should be considered in this stage because overvoltage can be caused by self-excitation at the generator when the RPC is smaller than the TLCC. The RPC can be decided by two criteria. One is stator end core heating, and the other is steady state stability. RPC in steady state stability area has been found based on a synchronous reactance Xd. This paper presents RPC limit of salient pole machine which is different from that of non-salient pole machine in steady state stability area and shows derivation process about that.

  • Induction motor is the most widely used to obtain the driving force in the industrial site. Induction motor generates a high current at startup. Most of starting currents are often more than five times of rated current. This high starting current can cause problems such as the voltage drop in the system. In order to solve these problems, if the motor capacity is large, generally we use reactor starting method rather than direct on line starting method. When a high startup current passes through reactor, reactor can serve as a nonlinear elements. In this study, we analyzed that the current, torque and power of the induction motor are different from the change of linear and nonlinear components of the reactor magnetic field.

  • This paper deals with the problem of determining the capacity expansion timing and sizes of conduits and feeder cables for a given cable network configuration of a single exchange ares, which minimizes the present worth of total costs. The planning horizon is infinite and the demand of line pairs at each cabinet is assumed to be determininstically growing. As a solution method, the heuristic branch-and-bound algorithm of Freidenfelds and Mclaughlin is elaborated by adding details and some minor modifications, which generates a good near-optimal solution with far less computation than would otherwise be possible. We also develop a computer program, which is shown to be effective and efficient through the test run of an illustrative example.

  • In line with the goal of achieving a low carbon future, the Philippines made an aspirational target which aims to increase the total installed capacity coming from renewable energy (RE) to at least 20,000 MW by 2040. The country's RE sector has progressively advanced over the years following the enactment of its comprehensive RE Law in 2008. Among other RE technologies, solar achieved the highest installation growth from 2008 to 2018. The paper seeks to assess whether the Philippines' RE target by 2040 is achievable in terms of the current status and future outlook for RE. Major roadblocks that hamper RE development are identified and discussed, including some recommendations for policy-making and energy planning.

  • Agricultural water reservoirs upstream of the intake on the basis of the intaking water volume is being made. Therefore, the supply capacity of reservoirs are not considered when the water balance analysis, storm water reservoirs are based on agriculture and further secured by the reservoir water is not used to using natural river water analysis. To overcome these problems can supply reservoirs are available to permit analysis of how much the quantity of water balance analysis, it should be reflected in the line to help. In this study, the natural daily flow data and apply the dimensions of the reservoir, and for more than 30 years of the long-term water balance analysis conducted by Date Youngsan river basin can supply reservoirs are large quantity of permits available is presented.

  • This paper considers a cost model for a U-shaped manufacturing cell formation which incorporates a required number of machines and various material flows together under multi-part multi-cell environment. The model is required to satisfy both the specified operation sequence of each part and the total part demand volume, which are considered to derive material handling cost in U-shaped flow line cells. In the model several cost-incurring factors including set-up for batch change-over, processing time for operations of each part, and machine failures are also considered in association with processing load and capacity of each cell. Moreover, a heuristic for a good machine layout in each cell is newly proposed based on the material handling cost of each alternative sequence layout. These all are put together to present an efficient heuristic for the U-shaped independent-cell formation problem, numerical problems are solved to illustrate the algorithm.

  • Satisfying the customer orders with a short lead-time is one of the essential and competitive factors for business units under a mass customization environment. To shorten the lead-time for fulfilling various orders entails the production capacity expansion and efficient operational policy. Most business firms utilize the multiple production lines or facilities to cope with this business and manufacturing environment by making the manufacturing and distribution more flexible. In this study, we introduce the operational problem determining the joint production and delivery policy in an environment where multiple products are manufactured with more than one production lines. Also, we propose the heuristic solution approach for determining the product-line selection and joint lot size for this problem.

  • It applied the linear tapped delay line structure to the least mean square algorithm and the recursive least square algorithm it investigated the mean square error characteristics of compensation algorithm. The purpose of this paper is to propose multi-tap update algorithm, which is superior to compensation capacity of data, and then compare and analyze it from the perspective of convergence characteristics at time invariant transmission channel and frequency selective fading channel.
