The Innate Immune Viral Sensors and Their Functional Crosstalk

  • The precise and elaborate regulation of signaling cascades by diverse cytoplasmic and endosomal antiviral sensors is crucial for maintaining immune homeostasis and defending against viral pathogens. Receptors and enzymes that recognize foreign nucleic acids play a pivotal role in inducing antiviral interferon programs, serving as the first line of defense against various DNA and RNA viruses. Recent research has increasingly highlighted the crosstalk between nucleic acid sensors in detecting multiple virus invasions, resulting in amplified antiviral signals and compensating for any missing roles. This review provides an update on recent findings regarding the interplay of RNA sensors for DNA virus recognition.

무인반송 차량시스템의 정밀 추적제어 (Precise Tracking control of Automated Guided Vehicle System)

  • This paper proposed a fuzzy logic cross coupled controller which can enhance the path tracking performance of optically guided AGV(Automated Guided Vehicle). The AGV follows the guide path, it cannot be avoid the deviation from the path due to the inevitable error and the deviation must be corrected. Optically guided AGV used in industrial area is controlled by On-Off controller generally, the experimental AGV has three optical sensors in front body. In this structure, we could not know the leaving distance accurately and steering angle from the guided line, so AGV could not be controlled properly with conventional controller in the case of increasing or decreasing velocity. If we mount additional sensors the AGV, we could know the leaving distance and steering angle from the guided line and proper error compensating methode can be applied. But because cost of sensors are high, the cost of total system is increasing. So, in this paper, to improve the tracking performance of AGV which has the minimum number of sensors and fuzzy logic cross coupled controller is proposed. Some simulations and experimental results are presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed controller.

케이블 컨듀잇 굽힘 센서의 선형 특성 분석 및 켈리브레이션 (Linearity Analysis and Calibration of a Cable-Conduit Bend Sensor)

  • Previous shape sensors including bend sensors and optic fiber based sensors are widely used in various applications including goniometer and surgical robots. But theses sensors have large nonlinearity, limited in the range of sensing curvature, and sometimes are expensive. This study suggests a new concept of bend sensor using cable-conduit which consists of the outer sheath and the inner wire. The outer sheath is made of helical coil whose length of the central line changes as the sheath bends. This length change of the central line can be measured with the length change of the inner cable. The modeling and the experimental results show that the output signal of the proposed sensor is linearly related with the bend angle of the sheath with root mean square error of 5.3% of $450^{\circ}$ sensing range. Also the polynomial calibration of the sensor can decrease the root mean square error to 2.1% of the full sensing range.

  • Fieldbus system should be designed by considering the number of sensors/actors(actuators+ controllers) and their sampling times. But the number of sensors/actors and which are connected to the network bus can be varied by addition and/or fault of the field devices. That variation decreases the efficiency of system which is off-line designed optimally. This paper proposes an algorithm that ensures transmission of cyclic data even though there is the number change in the field devices. We assign the different weight values to cyclic data and acyclic data. By simulation and experiment, the cyclic and acyclic data are processed via the proposed network, and the results are compared with those of the Profibus system. It is shown that the proposed algorithm is more robust with the uncertainties of the field devices of the control system.

An Integrated On-Line Diagnostic System for the NORS Process of Maiden Reactor Project: The Design Concept and Lessons Learned

  • During an extensive review made as part of the Integrated Diagnosis System project of the Maiden Reactor Project, MOAS (Maryland Operator Advisory System) was identified as one of the most thorough systems developed thus far. MOAS is an integrated on-line diagnosis system that encompasses diverse functional aspects that are required for an effective process disturbance management: (1) intelligent process monitoring and alarming, (2) on-line sensor data validation and sensor failure diagnosis, (3) on-line hardware (besides sensors) failure diagnosis, and (4) real-time corrective measure synthesis. The MOAS methodology was used at the Maiden Man-Machine Laboratory HAMMLAB of the OECD Maiden Reactor Project. The performance of MOAS, developed in G2 real-time expert system shell for the high-pressure preheaters of the NORS process in the HAMMLAB, was tested against a variety of transient scenarios, including failures of the control valves and sensors, and tube leakage of the preheaters. These tests showed that MOAS successfully carried out its intended functions, i.e., quickly recognizing an occurring disturbance, correctly diagnosing its cause, and presenting advice on its control to the operator. The lessons learned and insights gained during the implementation and performance tests also are discussed.

초점거리 편의가 지상 정확도에 미치는 영향 비교 연구 - 세가지 라인 스캐너를 대상으로 - (Comparative Analysis of Focal Length Bias for Three Different Line Scanners)

  • 다수의광학위성센서들이선형 배열 형태에 기반을두고설계되었다. 널리 알려진 광학위성센서의 종류는 다음과 같이 경로 평행 방향 1열스캐너(along-track line scanner), 경로 직각 방향 1열 스캐너(across-track linescanner), 3열 스캐너(three- line scanner)로 구분할 수 있다. 이들 센서들을 이용하여 위성 및 항공기에서 지상지물의 정확한 위치정보를 획득하려고 할 때 센서의 외부 표정요소와 내부 표정요소는 매우 중요한 요소들이다. 이들 센서들의 영상생성기하구조는 태양에 의한열영향, 진동, 바람등의 다양한 물리적 현상들에 의하여 시시각각 변동될 가능성이 있기에 내부표정요소의 편의가 지상에 미치는 영향을 분석하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 실제적인 비행경로와 자세정보를 바탕으로 생성된 시뮬레이션 자료를 이용하여 본 연구에서는 각 센서의 초점거리에 편의량을 점진적으로 추가하면서 실험과 분석을 수행하였으며, 또한 비행고도를 고고도와 저고도의 두가지 경우로 비교하였다.실험결과, 경로평행방향 1열 스캐너의 경우에 초점거리편의량의 증가가 지상스캔라인방향(Y 방향)의 오차를 유발하였으며, 경로 직각 방향 1열 스캐너의 경우 스캔라인방향과 수직방향으로 오차가 증가하였고, 3열 스캐너의 경우에는 수직방향으로만 오차가 증가하였다. 이들 실험결과는 향후 새로운 센서개발과 센서캘리브레이션 정확도에 가이드라인을 제공할 수 있다고 본다.

  • Recently many research activities on the diagnosis of stator winding insulation of large rotating machines have been reported. Capacitive couplers are widely used as sensors for on-line partial discharge (PD) measurement of high voltage rotating machines. This paper presents laboratory test to compare Stator Slot Coupler (SSC), Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD), 80 [pF] coupler and 500 [pF] coupler for on-line PD measurement of rotating machines. And a novel on-line monitoring system for an insulation diagnosis is proposed.

Differentiation of Beef and Fish Meals in Animal Feeds Using Chemometric Analytic Models

  • Purpose: The research presented in this paper applied the chemometric analysis to the near-infrared spectral data from line-scanned hyperspectral images of beef and fish meals in animal feeds. The chemometric statistical models were developed to distinguish beef meals from fish ones. Methods: The meal samples of 40 fish meals and 15 beef meals were line-scanned to obtain hyperspectral images. The spectral data were retrieved from each of 3600 pixels in the Region of Interest (ROI) of every sample image. The wavebands spanning 969 nm to 1551 nm (across 176 spectral bands) were selected for chemometric analysis. The partial least squares regression (PLSR) and the principal component analysis (PCA) methods of the chemometric analysis were applied to the model development. The purpose of the models was to correctly classify as many beef pixels as possible while misclassified fish pixels in an acceptable amount. Results: The results showed that the success classification rates were 97.9% for beef samples and 99.4% for fish samples by the PLSR model, and 85.1% for beef samples and 88.2% for fish samples by the PCA model. Conclusion: The chemometric analysis-based PLSR and PCA models for the hyperspectral image analysis could differentiate beef meals from fish ones in animal feeds.

분산센서망에서 표적을 탐지한 센서의 기하학적 구조를 이용한 표적위치 추정 (Target Localization Using Geometry of Detected Sensors in Distributed Sensor Network)

  • 해안 수중 감시를 위하여 분산센서망를 해안에 설치하고, 이를 이용하여 표적을 탐지하고 표적의 위치를 추정하는 연구가 많이 이루어지고 있다. Zhou 등은 표적 탐지만 가능한 간단한 구조의 센서들로 구성된 분산센서망에서 표적을 탐지한 센서들의 위치 정보를 활용하여 표적의 위치를 추정하는 기법을 제안하였다. Zhou 등이 제안한 기법은 다른 기존의 기법에 비해 표적탐지 신호의 전파모델에 대한 파라미터들을 별도로 추정할 필요가 없고, 연산량이 적으며, 분산센서망에서 적은 량의 데이터만 송수신하여도 된다. 그러나 Zhou 기법은 표적의 위치 추정오차가 크다. Ryu는 추정오차를 줄이기 위하여 Zhou 기법을 수정하였다. 수정된 Zhou 기법은 Zhou 기법보다 추정성능이 향상되었지만, 여전히 비교적 큰 추정오차를 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 수정된 Zhou 기법으로 구한 표적의 방위각을 나타내는 직선과 표적을 탐지한 센서들과의 기하학적 구조를 고려한 표적위치 추정기법을 제안하였으며, 수정된 Zhou 기법에 기반을 두고 있다. 제안한 기법의 표적위치 추정성능이 Zhou 기법과 수정된 Zhou 기법 보다 향상되었음을 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통하여 확인하였다.

Distributed crack sensors featuring unique memory capability for post-earthquake condition assessment of RC structures

  • A new design of distributed crack sensors based on the topological change of transmission line cables is presented for the condition assessment of reinforced concrete (RC) structures during and immediately after an earthquake event. This study is primarily focused on the performance of cable sensors under dynamic loading, particularly a feature that allows for some "memory" of the crack history of an RC member. This feature enables the post-earthquake condition assessment of structural members such as RC columns, in which the earthquake-induced cracks are closed immediately after an earthquake event due to gravity loads, and are visually undetectable. Factors affecting the onset of the feature were investigated experimentally with small-scale RC beams under cyclic loading. Test results indicated that both crack width and the number of loading cycles were instrumental in the onset of the memory feature of cable sensors. Practical issues related to dynamic acquisition with the sensors are discussed. The sensors were proven to be fatigue resistant from shake table tests of RC columns. The sensors continued to show useful performance after the columns can no longer support additional loads.
