Integrated performance test of Chemical and Volume Control System was successfully performed in 1994. However, an extensive effort to correct hardware and software problems in the letdown line was required mainly due to the lack of adequate simulation code to predict the test accurately. Although the LTC computer code was used during the YGN 3'||'&'||'4 NSSS design process, the code can not satisfactorily predict the test due to it insufficient letdown line modeling. This study developed a numerical model to simulate the letdown test by modifying the current LTC code, and then verified the model by comparing with the test data. The comparison shows that the modified LTC computer code can predict the transient behavior of letdown system lese very well. Especially, the model was verified to be able to predict the "Stiction (composition of stick and friction)" phenomena which caused instantaneous fluctuations in the letdown backpressure and flowrate. Therefore, it is concluded that the modified LTC computer code with the ability of calculating the "Stiction" phenomena will be very useful for future plant design and test predictions.predictions.
In this paper, we introduce a new method for controlling the illumination of LEDs in visible light communication (VLC) by changing the duty cycle of Manchester code. When VLC data were transmitted in Manchester code, the average optical power of the LEDs was proportional to the duty cycle. In experiments, we controlled the illumination of a $3{\times}3$ LED array from 10% to 90% of its peak value by changing the duty cycle of the Manchester code. The synchronizing clocks required for encoding and decoding the Manchester code were supplied by pulse generators that were connected to a 220 V power line. All pulse generators made the same pulses with a repetition frequency of 120 Hz, and they were synchronized with the full-wave rectified voltage of the power line. This scheme is a very simple and useful method for constructing indoor wireless sensor networks using LED light.
In this paper, we propose to exploit a multi-code CDMA scheme for power line communication (PLC) systems, and its performance on non-Gaussian impulse and harmonic noises is presented. The proposed multi-code CDMA scheme utilizes convolutional coding and block interleaving to combat with the non-Gaussian noises, and simulation results indicate effective alleviation of these noises, and thus significant bit error rate improvement by the proposed scheme even under strict restriction of frequency band allowed in PLC systems.
We have established a database of galaxy spectral line strengths for the SDSS database using an improved line measuring method. Our work includes the entire SDSS DR7 galaxies within redshift of 0.2. The absorption line strengths measured by the SDSS pipeline are seriously contaminated by emission filling. Our code, GANDALF (gas and absorption line fitting code) performs more accurate measurements by effectively separating emission lines from absorption lines. A significant improvement has also been made on the velocity dispersion measurement, more notably in late-type galaxies. We have also identified a number of broad line region galaxies which were misclassified as normal galaxies by the SDSS pipeline. We developed an effective method measuring their line strengths. The database will be provided with new parameters that are indicative of the line strength measurement quality. In addition, we made galaxy templates for the Hubble sequence. The database will be useful for many fields of galaxy studies including star formation and AGN activities.
The MELCOR code useful for a plant-specific hydrogen risk analysis has inevitable limitations in prediction of a turbulent flow of a hydrogen mixture. To investigate the accuracy of the hydrogen risk analysis by the MELCOR code, results for the turbulent gas behavior at pipe rupture accident were compared with CFX results which were verified by the American National Standard Institute (ANSI) model. The postulated accident scenario was selected to be surge line failure induced by station blackout of an Optimized Power Reactor 1000 MWe (OPR1000). When the surge line failure occurred, the flow out of the surgeline was strongly turbulent, from which the MELCOR code predicted that a substantial amount of hydrogen could be released. Nevertheless, the results indicated nonflammable mixtures owing to the high steam concentration released before the failure. On the other hand, the CFX code solving the three-dimensional fluid dynamics by incorporating the turbulence closure model predicted that the flammable area continuously existed at the jet interface even in the rising hydrogen mixtures. In conclusion, this study confirmed that the MELCOR code, which has limitations in turbulence analysis, could underestimate the existence of local combustible gas at pipe rupture accident. This clear comparison between two codes can contribute to establishing a guideline for computational hydrogen risk analysis.

This paper proposes the revised ASCII code. The study started with consideration whether the ASCII code is proper or not in the side of the transmission efficiency in data communications. In data communications, when the consecutive "0" bits from the information devices input into the line coder, its consecutive "0" bits are scrambled to the predetermined patterns not to the consecutive "0" signal. The paper used to study with the statistical data for the frequency of the letters of the alphabets and the proposed rule of characters coding in reference. As a result of the study, when the proposed ASCII code is applied, the operation efficiency of the scrambler in the line coder is improved upto average 30%.

Off-line feed rate scheduling is an advanced methodology to automatically determine optimum feed rates for the optimization of NC code. However, the present feed rate scheduling systems have lim~tations to generate the optimized NC codes because they use the material removal rate or non-generalized cutting force model. In this paper, a feed rate scheduling system based on an improved cutting force model that can predrct cutting forces exactly in general machining was presented. Original blocks of NC code were divided to small ones with the modified feed rates to adjust the peak value of cutting forces to a constant vale. The characteristic of acceleration and deceleration for a given machrne tool was considered when off-line feed rate scheduhng was performed. Software for the NC code optimization was developed and applied to pocket machining simulation.

Similar software is often developed with the Clone-And-Own (CAO) approach that copies and modifies existing artifacts. The CAO approach is considered as a bad practice because it makes maintenance difficult as the number of cloned products increases. Software product line engineering is a methodology that can solve the issue of the CAO approach by developing a product family through systematic reuse. Migrating product families that have been developed with the CAO approach to the product line engineering begins with finding, integrating, and building them as reusable assets. However, cloning occurs at various levels from directories to code lines, and their structures can be changed. This makes it difficult to build product line code base simply by finding clones. Successful migration thus requires unifying the source code's file path, class name, and method signature. This paper proposes a clustering method that identifies a set of similar codes scattered across product variants and some of their method full paths are different, so path unification is necessary. In order to show the effectiveness of the proposed method, we conducted an experiment using the Apo Games product line, which has evolved with the CAO approach. As a result, the average precision of clustering performed without preprocessing was 0.91 and the number of identified common clusters was 0, whereas our method showed 0.98 and 15 respectively.
In this study, the numerical code for the 3D nonlinear dynamic analysis of an SLWR (Steel Lazy Wave Riser) was developed using the lumped mass line model in a FORTRAN environment. Because the lumped mass line model is an explicit method, there is no matrix operation. Thus, the numerical algorithm is simple and fast. In the lumped mass line model, the equations of motion for the riser were derived by applying the various forces acting on each node of the line. The applied forces at the node of the riser consisted of the tension, shear force due to the bending moment, gravitational force, buoyancy force, riser/ground contact force, and hydrodynamic force based on the Morison equation. Time integration was carried out using a Runge-Kutta fourth-order method, which is known to be stable and accurate. To validate the accuracy of the developed numerical code, simulations using the commercial software OrcaFlex were carried out simultaneously and compared with the results of the developed numerical code. To understand the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of an SLWR, dynamic simulations of SLWRs excited at the hang-off point and of SLWRs in regular waves were carried out. From the results of these dynamic simulations, the displacements at the maximum bending moments at important points of the design, like the hang-off point, sagging point, hogging points, and touch-down point, were observed and analyzed.
This study addresses some solutions of the technical problem of using e-money systems. The solutions are on/off line e-money, one card, ordering system, and card-card settlement system etc. The alternatives are described as source code in the example of Angel Plus e-money. E-money is classified as IC card(off-line) type and net work(on-line) type. But, They should be integrated. End-users want to use the combined card for its conveniences. This research introduces on/off line e-money with a case study. On the basis of this paper, future research is to be further conducted on the Customer-oriented e-money with multiple functions.
