모바일 교육 시스템을 위한 효율적인 영상 검색 구축 (Effective Image Retrieval for the M-Learning System)

  • 교육 매개체의 디지털화를 위해 정보 통신망과 기술을 본격적으로 교육에 도입함으로써 교육의 패러다임이 e-learning(electronics learning)으로 이동하고 있다. 그러나 e-learning 콘텐츠는 컴퓨터가 있는 장소에서만 제공받을 수 있기 때문에, 언제 어디서나 사용자가 원할 때 교육받기 힘든 단점이 있으며, 기존 오프라인 콘텐츠를 e-learning 콘텐츠로 재구성하기 위해 많은 비용과 시간이 소요된다. 본 논문에서는 정적인 2차원 시각 정보만을 제공하는 기존 오프라인 콘텐츠의 그림 영상에 모바일 기기를 이용하여 동적인 인터랙션과 다양한 멀티미디어 정보를 융합할 수 있는 교육용 모바일 콘텐츠 (education mobile contents: EMC) 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 영어 교육 콘텐츠는 기존 오프라인 콘텐츠의 그림 영상을 저해상도 카메라가 장착된 모바일 기기로 인식하기 위해 모양 기반의 영상 검색 방법을 이용하며, 수행속도와 크기와 기울기 변화에 강건한 시작점 일치를 통한 차분 체인코드 (differential chain code)를 사용한 DTW(dynamic time warping)를 이용한다. EMC는 모바일 기기를 이용하여 장소에 상관없이 오프라인 콘텐츠에 적합한 온라인 콘텐츠를 빠르고 정확하게 제공할 수 있다.

Study on Characteristics of Subchannel Analysis Code at Low Flow Steam Line Break Condition

  • The subchannel analysis was performed to verify the behavior of hot channel characteristics and obtain the information to support the core thermal-hydraulic behavior at post-trip steam line break with low flow condition. During this postulated accident, buoyancy-induced cross flow occurs, and the coupled nuclear and thermal-hydraulic interactions become important. The code predictions with TORC are in good agreement with the test data. Under such conditions, the mass flow increase in the hot channel by buoyancy-induced cross flow depends on the parameter $GR^{*}\;/\;Re^2$, and buoyancy effect becomes more noticeable as $GR^{*}\;/\;Re^2$ increases.

  • In this study, the nature of nonlinear field line resonances (FLR) is studied by adopting full MHD simulations. The MHD code used here is based on the total variation diminishing (TVD) scheme and we have performed numerical simulations of FLR with its three-dimensional code. If the source perturbation is strongly impulsive and thus the timescale of the initial variations is sufficiently smaller than the convection timescale, FLRs are easily confirmed in these simulations. When the disturbance is sufficiently small, it is shown that linear properties of MHD wave coupling are well reproduced. In order to examine nonlinear nature of FLR, wave spectra, Poynting flux and energy distribution are studied at resonances as the magnitude of initial disturbance gradually increases.

  • When RF overlay technology is used in EPON-based optical access network, there coexist the directly modulated 1310-nm upstream data, the directly modulated 1490-nm downstream data, and the amplitude-modulated l550-nm downstream broadcast signal based on RF overlay technology. In this paper, we analyze the spectrum of 8B/10B IDLE line code signal and the SRS effect of l490-nm IDLE line code signal on 1550-nm signal. From the result of analysis, we propose a new technique that can be used to improve the CNR of the broadcast signal, which is based on self synchronous scramble method.

A Low-Power ECC Check Bit Generator Implementation in DRAMs

  • A low-power ECC check bit generator is presented with competent DRAM implementation with minimal speed loss, area overhead and power consumption. The ECC used in the proposed scheme is a variant form of the minimum weight column code. The spatial and temporal correlations of input data are analyzed and the input paths of the check bit generator are ordered for the on-line adaptable power savings up to 24.4% in the benchmarked cases. The chip size overhead is estimated to be under 0.3% for a 80nm 1Gb DRAM implementation.

  • After 1th line was built in 1974, the history of subway in Korea has been expended to 9th line which is under construction. It is time to prepare nation wide subway grounding system urgently according to the domestic electric standard that aligns to world wide standard by WTO/TBT treat (1995). Newly added grounding system to the fundamentally different system caused many problems. PSD(platform screen door) and other newly added equipment are also need grounding system. By the electrical code(established by Korea Electric Association), low voltage equipment(including grounding system) under 1,000V AC are in the process of change into IEC 60374. IEC 60364 standard will be added to the electrical code(established by Korea Electric Association) in 2007 and amended and after 3-5 years later, it will become a complete IEC 60364. So the purpose of this study is to compare the domestic rail road grounding system and suggest the standardized grounding system for the newly built subway.

A New Grid-Based Monte Carlo Code for Raman Scattered He II: Preliminary Results

  • We developed a new grid-based Monte Carlo code to trace far UV He II line photons that are incident on a thick H I region and subsequently transferred through Rayleigh and Raman scattering with atomic hydrogen. In particular, we consider a neutral region that is moving away from the He II emission source which is either monochromatic or is described by a Gaussian profile. The resultant Raman scattered He II line profiles from a monochromatic source are characterized by a double peaked core part with an extended Raman red tail that is attributed to multiple re-entry events. Complicated behaviors are observed in the case of a Gaussian He II source including the formation of a secondary red peak near the Balmer center dependent on the H I column density. A preliminary application of our results to the CFHT data of the planetary nebula IC 5117 is presented.

A Function Point Model for Measuring the Development Cost of Information Services using Wireless Data Broadcast

  • Software applications have a huge and inseparable impact on our lives. The complexity of the applications increases rapidly to support high performance and multifunction. Accordingly, the cost model for applications is increasingly important. Line of Code (LOC) and Man-Month (M/M) as the cost model measure the quantitative sides of the applications. Unlike them, Function Point (FP) measures the functionalities of the application. FP is efficient for estimating qualitative characteristics, but it is restricted to measuring the cost of an application using the wireless data broadcast which can support any number of clients. In this paper, we propose, a Function Point model for Information services using wireles data Broadcast (FPIB) to measure the development cost of an application that serves using the wireless data broadcast environment. FPIB adopts critical parameters of the wireless broadcast environment and the complexity of them to measure effectively the cost developing the application. Through the evaluation comparing the proposed FPIB with FP, we reveal the effectiveness of the proposed FPIB.

  • A centrifugal fan design code was developed and packaged together with iDesignFan/sup TM/ as new models. This code generate centrifugal forward curved and backward curved bladed impeller optimally. It also predicts the aerodynamic performance and the overall sound pressure level of the rotating fan by assuming steady blade loading. The overall sound pressure level is used as an input parameter from the third loop of the designing process to acquire the most silent fan for the given aerodynamic performance parameters. With this kind of inverse design concept used in the code, the period of designing a fan is significantly shortened. A centrifugal fan design code, developed in this study and included in iDesignFan/sup TM/, predicts the aerodynamic performance such as design flow rate and static pressure. The aerodynamic performance in the design and off-design conditions is calculated by using the mean line analysis. For the steady loading calculation, the lift force distribution in a blade is used.

  • A dynamic explicit finite element code for simulating sheet forming processes has been developed The code utilises the discrete Kirchhoff shell element and contact force is treated by a conventional penalty method. In order to reduce the computational cost a new and robust contact searching algorithm has been developed and implemented into the code. in the method a hierarchical structure of tool segments called a tree structure is built for each tool at the initial stage of the analysis Tree is built in a way to divide a trunk to 8 sub-trunk 2 in each direction until the lowest level of the tree(leaf) contains exactly one segment of the tool. In order to have a well-balanced tree each box on each sub level contains one eighth of the segments. Then at each time step contact line from a node comes out of the surface of the tool. Simulation of various sheet forming processes were performed to verify the validity of the developed code with main focus on he usefulness of the developed contact searching algorithm.
