We demonstrate a simple CO2 laser by controlling firing angle of a TRIAC switch in ac power line. The power supply for our laser system switches the voltage of the AC power line (60Hz) directly. The power supply does not need elements such as a rectifier bridge, energy-storage capacitors, or a current-limiting resistor in the discharge circuit. In order to control the laser output power, the pulse repetition rate is adjusted up to 60Hz and the firing angle of TRIAC gate is varied from 45 to 135. A ZCS(Zero Crossing Switch) circuit and a PIC one-chip microprocessor are used to control the gate signal of the TRIAC precisely. The maximum laser output of 40W is obtained at a total pressure of 18Torr, a pulse repetition rate of 60Hz, and a TRAIC gate firing angle of 90.

There is an increasing interest in high-speed signal processing in modern telecommunication and SC circuit, HDTV, ISDN. There are many methods of high-speed signal processing. This paper describes a design approach for the realization of high-frequency Op-amp in CMOS technology. A limiting factor in Op-amp based analog integrated circuits is the limited useful frequency range. this thesis will develop a CMOS op-amp architecture with improved gainband width product with this technique an op-amp will achieve up to 170MHz (CL=2pF) unity-gain frequency with a 1.2-micron design rule. This CMOS op-amp is particularly suitable for achieving wide and stable closed-loop band widths, such as required in high-frequency SC filters, high-speed analog circuits.

The hysteresis characteristics of flux-lock reactor, which is an essential component of flux-lock type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL), was investigated. The hysteresis loss of iron core in flux-lock type SFCL does not happen due to its winding's structure especially in the normal state. From the equivalent circuit for the flux-lock type SFCL and the fault current limiting experiments, the hysteresis curves could be drawn. Through the hysteresis curves together with the fault current level due to the inductance ratio for the 1st and 2nd winding, the increase of the number of turns in the 2nd winding of the flux-lock type SFCL had a role to prevent the iron core from saturation.

As power demands increase, development of the superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) is being watched with interest. Many types of SFCLs using various superconducting materials have been developed. Especially, the FCL using coated conductor (CC) has been investigated actively at present. CCs have many advantages for the FCL application. YBCO materials used in CCs have a high n-value, and it is relatively easy to choose a matrix of the CC for high resistivity. If the CC has high resistivity, high voltage can be applied to the CC. Then total length of the CC used in SFCL, which has effects on total price and volume of the SFCL, can be reduced. Short circuit tests of two different types of CCs in the liquid nitrogen bath and its sub-cooled condition were performed and analyzed. An effect of high resistivity of the CC and cooling methods on fault current limiting characteristics could be verified in this paper.
Fault current is flowed into 154/23kV M. Tr when line-to-ground fault occurs in power system. NGR(Neutral Grounded Reactor) is set up in order to prevent M.Tr fault by limiting magnitude of fault currents. Here, disconnection of NGR causes voltage increase by L-C resonance and line-to-ground fault in an unearthed system results in voltage increase at healthy phases. So Over Voltage Ground Relay(OVGR) is used for tripping M.Tr. Also, buses at second phases of M.Trs are all connected with section circuit breakers closed for the purpose of parallel operation and load shedding. In case of speciality buses are comprised of power cable in part for GIS connection. When no-load charged cable or bus is open by a section CB, unbalanced voltage charged on the bus is induced. Also discrepant opening time for circuit breakers on different phases gives rise to unbalanced zero sequence voltage. It was observed that this zero sequence voltage detected in the 22.9kV P.T (Potential Transformer for bus) mal-operated 59GT and tripped M.Tr. The zero sequence voltage of which vanishing time is longer than relay operating time came out by EMTDC simulation. Also, it was shown that the voltage waves of actual test are similar to those of simulation. On the basis of above results, R-C circuit complement on the relay without any effect on a power system made operating time of the relay longer than vanishing time of distorted waves. Consequently, operating time of the relay was delayed and magnitude of distorted waves was decreased by increasing time constant of the relay.

In this paper, the design and implementation of the novel RF front end circuit for CDMA based PCS phone is described. This novel scheme is realized by building the power amplifier module combined with duplexer. The dielectric filters which are parts of duplexer are broken up and relocated into the module. Electromagnetic analysis for via holes and coupling between narrow transmissio lines is icluded to design a circuit. The combined moule has been minimaturized to be as small as 1.5CC. It has satisfied IS-95 requirements for linearity performances of CDMA signal at 24-dBm output power as well as played apart as a duplexer. The operating current of about 95mA has been saved owing to both rearranging dielectric filters and limiting operating point to class-B by considering real working power range of CDMA phones.

Independent-Gate-Mode Double-Gate(IGM-DG) MOSFET overcomes the limitation of bulk-MOSFET's channel controllability and enables to control the front and back-gate voltages independently. Therefore, circuit designs utilizing the IGM-DG MOSFETs provide the advantage of setting 4-terminal freely, hence achieving not only the performance improvement but also the larger scale integration. This paper presents a 15Gb/s optical receiver with a 1.0V power supply voltage, which consists of a transimpedance amplifier (TIA), a feedforward limiting amplifier (LA), and an output buffer. HSPICE simulations were conducted to confirm the circuit performance, and also to verify the circuit stability issues which may occur from the variations of process and supply voltage.

Modern electronic circuits are of importance for the function of communication, traffic systems and security systems. An intentional threat to these systems could be of big casualties and economic disasters. This study has examined susceptibility of electronic circuits inside the cavity by HPEM(High Power Electromagnetics). The UWB measurements were done at an anechoic chamber using a RADAN voltage source, which can generate a transient impulse of about 200 kV. The HPEM wave penetrated inside the metal case appeared to the long damped ringwave of pulse length compared with the incident wave. In addition, the resonant frequency generated inside the metal case occurred primarily in the range of 1~3 GHz. The frequency band of 1~3 GHz was influenced on the electronic circuit, which was confirmed by an external antenna and an internal absorber. The electronic circuit was influenced by HPEM infiltrated into the cavity at the 86 kV/m out of the metal cases. Also in case of an absorber the susceptibility of an electronic circuit was smallest among other cases(aperture, antenna). It is considered that absorber has a function absorbing electromagnetic wave infiltrated into the cavity and simultaneously limiting resonance by varying a boundary condition inside the cavity. Based on the results, electronic equipment systems could be applied to protection that has suited system requirements.

In a conventional DC power supply used for CO2 laser, the circuit elements such as a rectifier bridge, a current-limiting resistor, a high voltage switch, energy storage capacitors ans a high-voltage isolation transformer using high turn ratio are necessary. Consequently, those supplies are expensive and require a large space. Thus, laser resonator and power supply should be optimally designed. In this paper, we propose a new power supply using high frequency resonance phenomena for CW(Continuous wave) CO2 laser (maximum output of 23W with discharge length of 450mm). It consists of a transformer including leakage inductance, magnetizing inductance and half-bridge converter, a three-stage Cockcroft-Walton and PFC(Power factor correction) circuit. The output ripple voltage can be controlled the minimum of 0.24% under the high frequency switching of 231kHz. Furthermore, the output efficiency was improved to 16.4% and the laser output stability of about 5.6% was obtained in this laser system.
Communication based train control system is applied regularly worldwide. And this system may be used in domestic soon. Communication based train control system does not depend on conventional track circuit. Therefore, position and distance control of train to prevent collision with leading train may become important safety factor. This paper developed collision avoidance algorithm to control trains of several units efficiently for this. In developing a collision avoidance algorithm, it is desirable to avoid the need for additional system. Additional system restricts the development of the algorithm by limiting the effectiveness of the algorithm to only those areas where the additional system can be afforded and has been installed.
