The objective of this study was to investigate the strength characteristics of mortar with lime composites using natural fiber or superplasticizer. Lime composites consist of lime and pozzolan materials. Flow according to adding natural fiber decreased and mortar proportion added cellulose fiber showed a higher strength characterisitics than other natural fiber. but compressive and shear strength in use of superplasticizer is not effective largely. In addition, lime composites, as an environment-friendly material, may help reduse $CO_2$, and save the energy. also this materials can be recycled in environmental aspects. afterwards, further in-depth studies will be necessary for cracks and durability with respect to its wide different applications, in applying it as a construction material.
The results of an experimental study on the manufacture and the mechanical properties of fiber reinforced fly ash$\cdot$lime$\cdot$gypsum composites are presented in this paper. 'The composites using fly ash, lime, and gypsum were prepared with various fibers (PAN-derived and Pitch-derived carbon fiber, alkali-resistance glass fiber) and a small amount of polymer emulsion-styrene butadiene rubber latex (SBR). As the test results show, the manufacturing process technology of fly ash$\cdot$lime$\cdot$gypsum composites was developed and its optimum mix proportions were successfully proposed. And the flexural strength and toughness of fiber reinforced fly ash$\cdot$lime $\cdot$gypsum composites were increased remarkably by fiber contents, but the compressive strength of the composites were influenced by the kinds fiber more than by the fiber contents. Also, the addition of a polymer emulsion to the composites decreased the bulk specific gravity, but the compressive and flexural strength, and the toughness of the composites were not influenced by it, but were considerably improved by increasing fiber contents.

This paper presents the effect of silica fume and nano silica, used individually and in combination with the set accelerator and/or hydrated lime, on the properties of class F high volume ultra fine fly ash (HV-UFFA) cement composites, replacing 80 % of cement (OPC). Compressive strength test along with thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy were undertaken to study the effect of various elements on the physico-chemical behaviour of the blended composites. The results show that silica fume when used in combination with the set accelerator and hydrated lime in HV-UFFA cement mortar, improves its 7 and 28 day strength by 273 and 413 %, respectively, compared to the binary blended cement fly ash mortar. On the contrary, when nano silica is used in combination with set accelerator and hydrated lime in HV-UFFA cement mortar, the disjoining pressure in conjunction with the self-desiccation effect induces high early age micro cracking, resulting in hindering the development of compressive strength. However, when nano silica is used without the additives, it improves the 7 and 28 day strengths of HV-UFFA cement mortar by 918 and 567 %, respectively and the compressive strengths are comparable to that of OPC.
High flexible lightweight composites containing tobermorite as a main mineral is produced using various amorphous silicates, lime, cement and fibers. Here, Mechanical properties of the composites were studied by observing microstructures of hydrates and fibers. Amorphous silicates having better hydraulicity retarded the crystallization of tobermorite due to better formation of C-S-H gel in water bath curing, but, difficult conversion from C-S-H gel to tobermorite in hydrothermal reaction. In the low molar ratio of CaO/SiO2 (0.67), faster crystalization was observed dued to more impurities such as Al2O3 alkali, resulting in improving mechanical properties due to small crystal size and many contact points. It was identified that a lot of calcium silicate hydates formed at surface of pulps increase bonding strength and the crack-resistance of matrix in the composites, but decrease hardness and compressive strength. The choice of amorpous silicates having better hydraulicity, low CaO/SiO2 adding each fibers bellow about 5% in the raw mixs and lower molding pressure should be needed at improve mechanical properties of composites.

The role of elastic/plastic mismatch on the contact crack initiation is investigated for designing desirable surface-coated asymmetric layered composites. Various layered composites such as $Si_3N_4$ ceramics on $Si_3N_4+BN$ composite, soda-lime glass on various substrates with different elastic modulus for the analysis. Spherical indentation is conducted for producing contact cracks from the surface or interface between the coating and the substrate layer. A finite element analysis of the stress fields in the loaded layer composites enables a direct correlation between the damage patterns and the stress distributions. Implications of these conclusions concerning the design of asymmetric layered composites indicate that the elastic modulus mismatch is one of the important parameter for designing layered composite to prevent the initiation of contact cracks.

In this study, the effects of sulphuric acid on the mechanical performance and the durability of Engineered Cementitious Composites (ECC) specimens were investigated. The carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) and basalt fiber reinforced polymer (BFRP) fabrics were used to evaluate the performances of the confined and unconfined ECC specimens under static and cyclic loading in the acidic environment. In addition, the use of CFRP and BFRP fabrics as a rehabilitation technique was also studied for the specimens exposed to the sulphuric acid environment. The polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber with a fraction of 2% was used in the research. Two different PVA-ECC concretes were produced using low lime fly ash (LCFA) and high lime fly ash (HCFA) with the fly ash-to-OPC ratio of 1.2. Unwrapped PVA-ECC specimens were also produced as a reference concrete and all concrete specimens were continuously immersed in 5% sulphuric acid solution ($H_2SO_4$). The mechanical performance and the durability of specimens were evaluated by means of the visual inspection, weight change, static and cyclic loading, and failure mode. In addition, microscopic changes of the PVA-ECC specimens due to sulphuric acid attack were also assessed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to understand the macroscale behavior of the specimens. Results indicated that PVA-ECC specimens produced with low lime fly ash (LCFA) showed superior performance than the specimens produced with high lime fly ash (HCFA) in the acidic environment. In addition, confinement of ECC specimens with BFRP and CFRP fabrics significantly improved compressive strength, ductility, and durability of the specimens. PVA-ECC specimens wrapped with carbon FRP fabric showed better mechanical performance and durability properties than the specimens wrapped with basalt FRP fabric. Both FRP materials can be used as a rehabilitation material in the acidic environment.
The results of an experimental study on the development and the evaluation of lightweight
and high strength composites utilizing by-products and calcium silicates for construction materials
are presented in this paper. The composites using early strength portland cement, by-Products(
f1y ash, silica fume), silica powder, quick lime, gypsum, A1 powder and fibers(PAN-derived
CF, alkali-resistance GF) were prepared using various mixing conditions.
As the test results show, PAN-derived CF and alkali-resistance GF were suitable for rein-forcing
fiber of the composites. And the mechanical properties, such as compressive tensile flexural
strength, and toughness of Lt. Wt. fiber reinforced calcium silicates cement comp-osites were
improved by increasing the fly ash and silica fume contents, and fiber contents, especially by increasing
fiber contents the toughness of the composites were remarkably in-creased. Also, compressive
tensile flexural strength, and toughness of the composites rein-forcing PAN-derived CF
were higher than those of the composites reinforcing alkali-resistance GF..

The study is the results of accelerated tests and the specimens, mortars, are submerged in a 5% sulfuric acid solution. The deterioration of specimens is followed up by investigating the change in weight and compressive strength of the specimens and techniques such as XRD and XRF are used to examine the chemical changes. Sulfuric acid is a very aggressive acid that reacts with the free lime [$Ca(OH)_2$] in the concrete forming gypsum($CaSO_{4}.2H_{2}O$). This reaction is associated with an increase in volume of the concrete, and the corroded surface becomes soft and white. The results showed that the OPC mortar caused an decrease in weight above 18% and strength loss about 57%. On the other hand, AASC(alkali-activated slag composites) did not cause any decrease in weight and in the case of strength caused an decrease below 10%. In addition, this mechanical results was verified to XRD and XRF.
A small diameter steel-ball impact experiment was performed to study the impact resistance of the surface of glass plates bonded with glass fabric/epoxy lamina. Five kinds of materials were used in this study: soda-lime glass plates, glass/epoxy lamina(one layer)-bonded and unbonded glass plates, glass/epoxy lamina(three layers)-bonded and unbonded glass plates. The range of impact velocity was 40 120m/s. The maximum stress and absorbed fracture energy were measured on the back surface of glass plates. With increasing impact velocity, various types of surface cracks such as ring, cone, radial and lateral cracks took place in the interior near the impacted site of glass plates. The cracks drastically decreased with glass/epoxy lamina coating. The surface fracture behavior could be evaluated using the maximum stress and the absorbed fracture energy.
