Bactericidal Effect of a 275-nm UV-C LED Sterilizer for Escalator Handrails: Optimization of Optical Structure and Evaluation of Sterilization of Six Bacterial Strains

  • In the pasteurization of escalator handrails using ultraviolet (UV) sterilizers, a combination of light distribution and escalator speed has priority over other important factors. Furthermore, since part of the escalator handrail has a curved structure, proper design is needed to improve the sterilization rate on the surfaces touched by users. In this paper, two types of sterilizers satisfying these conditions are manufactured with 275-nm UV-C LEDs, after modeling the three-dimensional (3D) structure of an escalator handrail and simulating optical distributions of UV-C irradiation on the handrail's surface according to light-emitting diode (LED) positions and reflector variations in the sterilizers. Pasteurization experiments with the UV-C LED sterilizers are conducted on six types of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, with exposure times of 0.2, 5, and 15 s at an actual installation distance of 20 mm. The sterilization rates for the gram-positive bacteria are 10.63% to 27.94% at 0.2 s, 89.44% to 96.30% at 5 s, and 99.64% to 99.88% at 15 s. Those for the gram-negative bacteria are 57.70% to 77.63% at 0.2 s, 98.90% to 99.49% at 5 s, and 99.88% to 99.99% at 15 s. The power consumption of the UV-C LED sterilizer is about 8 W, which can be supplied by a self-generation module instead of an external power supply.

Multi-camera-based 3D Human Pose Estimation for Close-Proximity Human-robot Collaboration in Construction

  • With the advance of robot capabilities and functionalities, construction robots assisting construction workers have been increasingly deployed on construction sites to improve safety, efficiency and productivity. For close-proximity human-robot collaboration in construction sites, robots need to be aware of the context, especially construction worker's behavior, in real-time to avoid collision with workers. To recognize human behavior, most previous studies obtained 3D human poses using a single camera or an RGB-depth (RGB-D) camera. However, single-camera detection has limitations such as occlusions, detection failure, and sensor malfunction, and an RGB-D camera may suffer from interference from lighting conditions and surface material. To address these issues, this study proposes a novel method of 3D human pose estimation by extracting 2D location of each joint from multiple images captured at the same time from different viewpoints, fusing each joint's 2D locations, and estimating the 3D joint location. For higher accuracy, the probabilistic representation is used to extract the 2D location of the joints, considering each joint location extracted from images as a noisy partial observation. Then, this study estimates the 3D human pose by fusing the probabilistic 2D joint locations to maximize the likelihood. The proposed method was evaluated in both simulation and laboratory settings, and the results demonstrated the accuracy of estimation and the feasibility in practice. This study contributes to ensuring human safety in close-proximity human-robot collaboration by providing a novel method of 3D human pose estimation.

식물공장 시스템에서 광원의 종류를 달리하여 재배한 브로콜리 새싹의 이화학적 특성 (Physico-Chemical Properties of Broccoli Sprouts Cultivated in a Plant Factory System with Different Lighting Conditions)

  • LED광원에 따른 건조한 브로콜리 새싹의 일반성분을 분석한 결과 광원에 따라 유의적인 차이를 나타냈으며, 구성당은 glucose가 2.94~3.12%로 가장 많았고, fructose는 1.54~2.04% 검출되어 총 2종이 검출되었다. 클로로필 함량은 WLD(일반광원)을 쬐인 브로콜리 새싹에서 총 클로로필 함량 $1,157{\pm}0.004$ mg%, 클로로필 a $777{\pm}0.01$ mg%로 높게 나타났다. 유기산은 총 2종의 유기산이 검출되었으며, citric acid, malic acid는 모든 시료에서 검출되었고, citric acid 함량은 908~1,136 mg%로 청색광원(BLD)에서 가장 높게 측정되었으며, malic acid는 514~834 mg%로 적색광원(RLD)에서 가장 높은 함량을 보였다. 무기질은 총 7종의 성분이 검출되었고, 이중 K 함량이 518 mg%로 가장 많았으며, 다음으로 Mg, Na 순이었고, Zn, Fe, Cu의 함량은 미량이었다. 비타민 A와 C 및 E 함량은 각각 RLD $860.62{\pm}0.02\;{\mu}gRE$, $134.570{\pm}0.14$ mg%, $1.44{\pm}0.1$ IU, BLD $432.48{\pm}0.05\;{\mu}gRE$, $137.05{\pm}0.1$ mg%, $1.11{\pm}0.12$ IU, RBLD $667.33{\pm}0.11\;{\mu}gRE$, $118.50{\pm}0.09$ mg%, $1.47{\pm}0.1$ IU, WLD $640.25{\pm}0.08\;{\mu}gRE$, $119.87{\pm}0.07$ mg%, $1.31{\pm}0.15$ IU이었다. 이상의 결과 브로콜리 새싹은 LED 광원에 따라 식물체가 발아하여 새싹으로 되면 발아와 함께 식물체 내 영양 화학적 성분에 큰 변화를 일으키는 것으로 나타났다.

자동이탈식 위험표시부표 개발에 관한 연구 (Study on the Development of Auto Releasing New Danger Mark Buoy)

  • 항로표지란 해상교통의 안전을 도모하고 선박운항의 능률성을 향상시키기 위한 해양교통안전시설로서 국제적으로 IALA 규정 및 권고사항에 따라 적용하고 있다. 그 중 "새로운 위험물(New Danger)"는 항해용 해도 등의 수로서지에 미기재된 것으로 새로이 발견된 위험장해물을 라고 정의하고 있으며, 사주나 암초 등의 자연적 장해물 또는 침선과 같은 인위적 장해물을 포함한다. 이러한 새로운 위험물은 측방표지, 방위표지, 고립장해표지 등을 이용하거나 비상침선표지(Emergency Wreck Marking Buoy)를 사용하여 적절하게 표시하여야 한다. 그러나, 침선표지의 경우 설치의 신속성, 정확성, 부표의 특성 등의 문제로 인해 실질적인 설치 운영상의 문제가 제기 되고 있으며, 선박 침몰 사고의 경우 기상악화, 해역의 특성, 사고 위치의 확인이 어려워 신속한 신위험물표지(New Danger Mark) 설치가 어려운 실정이다. 이 연구는 선박 상갑판에 부착된 소형 침선표지가 선박의 실종 전복 침몰 등 해양사고 발생 시 일정수압에 의해 자동으로 이탈(Auto Release) 후 자기 부상(Auto Buoyance)하여 사고 발생 지점에 신속하고 정확하게 설치되도록 하는 시스템을 개발하고자 한다.

무대예술전문인 자격제도의 현황 분석 및 발전 방향 (A Current Conditions and Improvement Directions of the Certification System for Performing Arts Professionals)

  • 문화예술의 하드웨어 구축과 함께 정책적인 차원에서 이를 운영하거나 관리할 수 있는 전문 인력의 양성과 확보에 대한 중요성이 정책적인 과제로 부각되었고, 국민의 문화욕구가 증가하면서 공연예술도 대형화와 전문화로 인해, 대형 뮤지컬의 제작 편수가 많아지고 외국과의 공연교류가 활발해지면서 무대기술 인력의 수요도 증가하였다. 이처럼 공연장이 증가하면서 전문적으로 안전하고 질 높은 공연을 위한 무대 기술 분야의 전문 인력이 요구되었다. 무대예술전문인 자격제도는 무대기술 분야의 직업적 전문성과 안정성을 높여 공연장과 공연 예술의 질적인 발전을 목적으로 하고 있다. 2000년부터 시행되고 있는 이 자격제도는 점차 자리를 잡아가고 있으며, 이 제도가 처음 도입될 당시 무대기술 분야 종사자들은 예술적 전문성을 인정받고 무대예술전문인으로서 자긍심을 높일 수 있을 것이라는 확신을 갖고 많은 관심을 표명하였다. 그러나 정부의 문화예술 전문 인력 양성 확보를 위한 정책적인 방안과 무대기술 분야 인력정책에 대한 관심은 상대적으로 매우 미약하다고 볼 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 우리나라의 공연예술 전문 인력 양성을 위한 첫 자격제도로서, 자격제도의 도입 취지와 걸맞은 운영과 역할을 하고 있는지 현황 파악을 통해 문제점을 분석하여 개선방안을 제시하였다.

각막지형과 동공크기에 의한 굴절교정값의 변화 (Changes of Refractive Errors Caused by Corneal Shape and Pupil Size)

  • 목적: 동공크기가 달라질 때 각막의 고유한 형태가 굴절검사 완전교정값에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 방법: 평균연령 $23.33{\pm}1.78$세의 30명(60안)을 대상으로 검사실 조도 760 lx와 2 lx에서 각각 자각적굴절검사를 실시하여 단안 완전교정하고, 동공의 크기를 측정하였다. 그리고 각막지형을 측정한 후 peak data를 이용하여 각막지형의 변화를 분석하였다. 결과: 검사실 조도 760 lx에서 측정된 동공크기는 3.74~4.00 mm, 2 lx에서는 5.52~5.90 mm로 측정되었다. 760 lx에서 2 lx로 조도가 변화될 때 (-)구면굴절력이 증가한 경우는 17안(28.3%), (+)구면굴절력이 증가한 경우는 10안(16.7%), (-)원주굴절력이 증가한 경우는 17안(28.8%), (-)원주굴절력이 감소한 경우는 9안(15.3%), 그리고 난시축이 변화한 경우는 36안(62.1%)이었다. 각막지형측정에서 나타난 peak data 분석 결과 각막 주경선의 변화는 4가지 형태로 분류되었다. 결론: 동공확대에 따른 각막굴절면 확장은 각막의 고유한 형태로 인해 자각적굴절 검사값을 변화시키는 요인으로 작용하므로, 자각적굴절검사는 주된 생활환경에 맞는 조도조건에서 실시하여야 한다.

치과 종사자간의 색조 식별 능력 (SHADE PERCEPTION ABILITY AMONG DIFFERENT DENTAL PERSONNEL)

  • Statement of problem: Many factors influence shade determination in clinical practice and shade matching is highly affected by the viewing conditions. Purpose : This study investigated the differences in shade perception among distinct groups of dental personnel (10 prosthodontists, 10 general practitioners, 10 last-year dental students and 10 dental technicians) Material and method: Four groups of dental personnel were investigated. They were tested to eliminate color blindness. To compare shade selection ability, they were asked to match four test tabs of shades A3, B2, C2 and D4 (VITAPAN$^{(R)}$ Classical shade guide. The identification codes of the shade tabs were masked to prevent shade memory. ) against another full set of VITA$^{(R)}$ PAN$^{(R)}$ Classical shade guide under similar lighting conditions. Shade selections were randomly repeated five times every week and then the repeatability between dental personnel was evaluated. To compare value perception ability, they were asked to arrange randomly selected five test tabs (Bl, A2, D2, C3, A4) in descending order from the brightest to the darkest. To compare hue determination ability, they were asked to divide selected eight test tabs (n, A3, B2, B3, C2, C3, D2, D3) into four groups by manufacturer as follows : Group A-Reddish brown, Group B-Reddish yellow. Group C-Grey. Group D-Reddish grey. Results and conclusion : The obtained results were as follows : 1. For the value perception ability and hue determination ability. there was no significant difference among 4 groups: prosthodontists, general practitioners, dental students, dental technicians (P>.05). 2. For shade selection ability, the prosthodontists and dental technicians were significantly higher than dental students(P<.05). 3. The repeatability of selected shade in the dental technicians was significantly higher than that of general practitioners and dental students(P<.05). 4. The prosthodontists and dental technicians had significantly higher selection ability than dental students for shade B2 (P<.05).

폐형광등 유리를 활용한 고굴절 글래스비드의 제조 연구 (A Basic Study for Manufacturing High Refractive Beads from the Waste Fluorescent Glass)

  • 본 연구는 폐형광등을 사용하여 고굴절 유리비드를 제조하기 위한 최적 조건 도출을 위해 진행되었다. 제작된 유리비드는 XRD 분석과 더불어 물리·화학적 분석을 통해 유리비드의 굴절률 및 공기혼합비율, 방출속도에 따른 영향을 조사하였다. 연구를 통해 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 형광등 재활용유리로 제작된 글라스 비드와 일반 재활용 유리로 제작된 글라스비드 시료를 XRF 분석결과 일반 재활용 유리로 제작한 글라스비드에 CaO가 11.7 wt% 함유되 있는 반면 형광등 재활용 유리로 제작한 글라스비드에는 CaO 7.8 wt% 함량 비중과 비교해 3.9 wt% 함량 비중이 더 높은 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 형광등 재활용 유리로 제작된 글라스비드에는 일반 재활용 유리로 제작한 글라스비드에 함유되지 않은 ReO2 0.0108 wt%, BaO 0.071 wt%, NiO 0.0039 wt% 가 함유되어 있는 것을 알 수 있었다. 일반 재활용 유리로 제작된 글라스 비드와 폐형광등을 재활용하여 유리로 제작된 글라스비드의 Refractive Index 비교 시 폐형광등으로 제작된 유리비드가 일반 재활용 유리로 제작된 글라스비드보다 더 작은 입자 크기분포와 높은 굴절률을 갖는 것을 알 수 있었다. 결론적으로 폐형광 등 재활용 유리를 구상 형태의 글라스비드로 제작하기 위하여 Kiln 방식의 공정에서는 공기 혼합비율 1.7, 화염온도조건 940℃ 20 m/sec 조건에서 가장 높은 생성율을 확인할 수 있었다.

적외선 카메라를 이용한 비제약적 환경에서의 얼굴 인증 (Face Identification Using a Near-Infrared Camera in a Nonrestrictive In-Vehicle Environment)

  • 차량 내부에는 조명 변화, 부분적인 가림 및 운전자의 상태 변화와 같은 제한되지 않은 조건들이 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 비 제약적인 차량 환경에서의 운전자 얼굴 인증 시스템을 제안한다. 제안한 방법은 차량 내부 및 외부의 조명 변화에 따라 발생하는 얼굴 이미지의 변화를 최소화하기 위해서 근적외선(NIR) 카메라를 사용한다. 특히 정면에서의 강한 빛에 노출된 얼굴 이미지를 처리하기 위해서, 학습 이미지의 평균과 분산을 사용하여 정상적인 얼굴 이미지로부터 빛에 과다하게 노출된 이미지로 변환하여 사용한다. 따라서 정상적인 조명에서의 얼굴 분류기와 강한 정면광에서의 얼굴 분류기를 각각 동시에 만들어진다. 제안하는 얼굴 분류기는 얼굴 랜드마크를 추출하고 각 랜드마크의 신뢰도 점수를 합산하여 얼굴을 최종적으로 식별한다. 특히 각 랜드마크를 인식하여 부분적인 얼굴 가림에 강하기 때문에 안경이나 선글라스를 착용하는 상황에서도 높은 성능 향상이 가능하다. 즉 가려지지 않은 남은 랜드마크의 점수를 사용하여 운전자를 인식할 수 있다. 또한 등록 운전자와 미등록 운전자 간의 관계를 고려한 새로운 인식 거부 방법과 새로운 평가 방법을 논문에서 제안한다. 자체 취득한 데이터 셋, 공인된 PolyU 및 ORL 데이터 셋으로 실험한 결과 제안한 방법이 효과적임을 확인할 수 있었다.

주택의 조명과 거주자의 면경착용 실태조사연구 (A Study on the Illumination of Household and Research on the Actual Conditions of Wearing Spectacles in Dwellers)

  • As a result of measuring illumination and making up a question at home visit directly by investigator who trained over twenty days period from October 4 to 24, 1990, in order to render help which illumination problem against house, society against eyes or framing of health instruction potgram by seizing natural lighting actual conditions of house and actual conditions of wearing spectacles and by investigating interrelationship, I can summarize as follows. 1) In property of investigation subject, woman 66.9%, In an age, the twenties was largest of 27.4%, the forties was 20.2%, the fifties was 18.6%, the thirties was 17.4%. In academic career, those of upper secondary school grauates was largest of 28.6%, those who possess university career was 25.9%, those who middle school career was 20.9%, decoding of Korean alphabet was 2%. 2) By a residence area, a big city was 43.3%, farming and fishing villages were 20.3%, the rest was a small town and the administrative office of town, township. In positon of house, the middle area was 43.6%, resident of suburb area was 38.0%. In form of house, a Korean-style house was 40.8%, a western-style house was 34.8%, an apartment house was 11.0%. In the a standard of living, the middle classes 77.2%, the lower classes were 15.3%. In residential house unit of area, from 21 to 30 unit of area was largest of 31.5%, from 10 to 20 unit of area was 19.9%, from 31 to 40 was 18.7%. 3) The wearing spectacles rate of study user was 44.1%. By the area, those who wearing spectacles was more than a half of 50.8% in the resident of big city area. As passing from the farm area to the city, that is being resident of big city was high wearing spectacles rate. In position of house, as being residence in central street showed high wearing spectacles rate. (central street was 51.5%, the middle area was 44.5% and the suburb area was 40.1%.) It seemed similarity difference a variable by position of house from wearing spectacles in standard of 1%. By form of house, wearing spectacles rate those who resident in apartment house was 49.5%, that rate those who resident in a western-style house was high of 49.0%, that rate those who resident in a Korean-style house was the lowest 39.0%. By social position of resident in room, in students case who study showed very high, as university students were very high of 62.3% idn wearing spectacles rate, middle and high school students 'were 50.0%, members of society were 47.6%, workers 20.3%. It seemed similarity difference from academic career in standard of 1%. By an age, the thirties was high of 54.1% in wearing spectacles rate, the twenties was 43.2%, the teenage was the lowest of 11.8%. 4) In illumination of study, over 200Lux was high of 40.1%. but below 99Lux which inappropriate illumination to see the books was 32.4%. Average by area, below 99Lux was 22.7% and over 400Lux was 50.0% in case of wooden floor. As examine by area, below 99Lux was high of 27.0% a case of wooden floor in the big city area, it was not good in illumination passing from the farm area(15.0%) to the city(19.0%). Average illlumination by area of the main living room below 99Lux was high of 37.5%, less than 200Lux was 58.5% of whole. In general, illumination of the main livingroom was inappropriate. By area, the big city was 32.5% below 99Lux, the middle and small city area were 33.8%, town and township area were 45.0%, farming and fishing area were 42.8%. By area, in the big city, illumination of study was 52.5% over 200Lux and 28.9% below 99Lux. In case of the middle and small city, study user of below 99Lux was 38.8% and over 200Lux was 46.9%. In case of the seat of town township, below 99Lux was 34.1% and over 200Lux was 39.7%. In case of farming and fishing area, illumination of study was 33.4% below 99Lux and 48.4% over 200Lux. It tends to high rate of inappropriate illumination. 5) By position of house, in case of wooden floor, less than 100Lux was 24.5% in central street. It was bad illumination than others position of house. In case of the main livingroom, less than 100Lux was 40.4% in the suburb area. It was bad iliumnation than others position of house. In case of study, less than 100Lux was 35.4% in the middle area, it was worse in illumination. In case of the main living room, is seemed similarity difference in standard of 1%. 6) By form of house, in case of wooden floor, illumination of less than 100Lux was 23.8% in a western-style house, it was bad illumination than others form of house. In case of the main livingroom, illumination of less than 100Lux was 47.4% in a Korean-style house, it was remarkably bad illumination than others form of house. In case of study, a Korean-style house was 38.8%, it was very bad illumination than others form of house. In case of the main livingroom and study, it seemed similatrity difference each as P < 0.01 and P < 0.05 in standard of 1%. 7) The wearing spectacles rate of those who use room of illumination over 400Lux was 40.7%, and that of those who use room of illumination less than 100Lux was 28.1%. It seemed similarity differecce in standard of 1%. 8) In period of wearing spectacles, 21.3% of total investigator-highest-was from before five years, 8.6% was from before three years. Among those who use of illumintion less than 99Lux, 34.0% began to wear spectacles from before two years 31.7% was from before five years, 30.3% was from before four years. It seemed similarity difference from period of wearing spectacles by illumination in standard of 1 %. 9) Among cause which sight grow worse, the first was that it was each 33.2% and 27.4% in response rate because watch TV nearly to wearing spectacles person and non-wearing person. The second was that a lot of seeing books was 25.3% in wearing spectacles person and response rate for dark illumination was 7.4% in nonwearing spectacles person. It seemed similarity difference in standard of 1%. (P < 0.01). 10) In experience which take medicine good for eyes, it was 50.1% in wearing spectacles person and 8.5% in non-wearing spectacles person. It seemed similarity difference in standard of 1%(P < 0.01). As we have seen above, inappropriate illumination can be a cause of wearing spectacles. Nevertheless, actually, is realities to indifferent against illumination of house. So it must learn knowledge about health obstacle of illumination through society instruction and school eduction against students as well as general residents. In case that natural lighting is inappropriate structural of house, we must be able to maintain appropriate illumination through artificial illumination. And so eyes which is core of human life have to be protected, related the authorities, related group, and all health medical personnel will organically cooperate with and make efforts.
