  • This research attempted simplifications to the LED street light for price competitiveness. The street light was simplified by replacing the SMPS with an IC driver on the PCB using an AC-type LED. The optical element that shape of a line-shaped lens covered LED crowded. Thus, this study aims to improve LED efficiency by using the minimum optical system. In order to satisfy the M3 regulation of street lighting at grade, the lens was divided into two parts depending on the forward direction of the light. Further, the changes in the number of LEDs located on part 1 and part 2 of the lens were analyzed. Through simulation, we determined the proper light distribution that meets M3 regulation of street lighting.

  • In recent years, most automobile manufacturers have been using slim light source images to imprint their own brand image and identity. A light guide type lamp is widely used for making these kinds of a slim light source image. A light guide lamp means using a light emitting diode light source at one end of a long cylindrical pipe. The light from the light emitting diode source moves through the pipe by total reflection principle. Moving light is sent forward by various optic structures which is applied in the cylindrical pipe. However, the light guide lamp has a problem that the image of the light differs depending on the viewing direction, and in some cases there is dark section. It means light guide has low quality about lighting image. In this paper, trying to improve the fundamental problems of the light guide mentioned above by using various triz methods. Through functional modeling, estimating the factors affecting the light in the light guide lamp and make various ideas to improve the lighting image using the chain effect cause analysis, function oriented search scientific database techniques. Using these kinds of various TRIZ methods, finally find solutions that can improve the brightness and lighting uniformity of the light guide lamp. The ideas obtained in this paper were applied to actual vehicle development, and several patents achievements were obtained. In conclusion, it is proved that TRIZ method is useful for making ideas in actual automobile industrial field and is also a useful method for acquiring patent.

  • Electroplating technology is widely used in semiconductor microelectronic industry. With the development of semiconductor integrated circuit to high density and light-small scale, Extremely high quality and plated uniformity of the deposited metals are needed. Simulation technique can help to obtain better plating results. Although a few plating simulation softwares have been commercialized, plating simulation is not widely prevalent in Korea. In this paper, principle of electroplating and mathematical modeling of plating simulation are discussed. Also introduced are some cases enhancing plating thickness uniformity on leadframe, PCB and wafer by using plating simulation.

  • We report the techniques to obtain the high uniformity of the phosphor film thickness in the cold cathode fluorescent lamps, which are widely used as a back-light for the liquid crystal display. The thickness variation of the phosphor layer was sensitive to blowing conditions. The optimum conditions were obtained at flow rate of 15 sccm for 30 min at 40 $^{\circ}C$. The optimum and uniform thickness of a phosphor layer gives good luminous output.

  • In recent year, OLED(organic light emitted display) is used as the next generation device of FPD. OLED have been replacing the flat panel display device such as LCD, STN-LCD and TFT because this device is more efficient, economic and simple than those FPD devices, and this need not backlight system for visualization. The performance and efficiency of OLED is related with surface defect of ITO coated glass substrate. The typical surface defect of glass substrate is nonuniformity and bad surface roughness. ITO coated glass substrate is destroied for inspection about surface roughness and non-uniformity. Generally detection of the defects in the surface for ITO coated glass substrate is dependent on operator's experience. In this research, relationship between working parameter and surface non-uniformity is studied using regression analysis.

  • Road lighting is designed with a goal of achieving the related standards on luminance, uniformity ratio and glare. Unless the luminaire with LID which is perfect for road conditions is used, a situation which fails to meet lighting standards may occur. The study examined the relationship of maximum spacing with average road luminance and longitudinal uniformity. Based on the result of the analysis, this study evaluated luminaire with what characteristics are suitable to achieve lighting requirements of the roads and suggested methods of selection for luminaires depending on the size of the road.

  • Cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) has been used as a light source for direct type backlights for LCD monitors or TV. One inverter for one CCFL was necessary for maintaining the lamp current so that many inverters were used to drive as many CCFLs of direct type backlight for LCD TV. An inverter for driving 16 CCFLs was developed to reduce the backlight cost. The length and diameter of CCFL were 450mm and 4mm, respectively. Backlight including 16 CCFLs for 26" LCD TV was assembled by using one inverter. The uniformities of the assembled backlight operated by the conventional inverter and the newly developed inverter were 75% and 88%, respectively.

  • A medium scale integrated circuit, BCD to seven segment decoder/driver is designed and fabricated by employing P-channel metal-oxide-semiconductor technology. The device configuration is specifically designed for a common cathode seven segment LED display unit. The decoder logic is composed of two serially connected read-only-memory matrices and the LED drivers are implemented with wide channel FET's. The fabricated integrated circuit performed successfully with a supply voltage between -7 Volt and -26 Volt and the non-uniformity of the LED segment current is about 10%.

  • The voltage drop due to the thin cathode film at the large size top emission OLED panel was successfully compensated with making electrical contact between thin cathode and anode auxiliary electrode by 355nm wavelength of laser. It was found that the luminance uniformity dramatically increased from around 15% to more than 80% through this electrical compensation between thin cathode and anode auxiliary electrode. Moreover, the removing process for EL materials on the anode auxiliary electrode process by laser was very reliable and stable. Therefore, it is thought that the EL removal method using laser to make electrical contacts is very appropriate to mass production for such a large size top emission OLEDs to obtain high uniformity of luminance.

  • In this paper, we have designated a 42-inch RGB LED BLU, 80 % above illuminance. A desirable brightness performance was attained, by doing anti-parallel configuration, a fitting of LED's strip distance and a height of the top of LED to the back of the LCD. We get the 85.81 % of the brightness uniformity which has 12.8 mm away from LED's top and LCD's back and 51.41 mm of the same spacing between LED's strip in simulation and 82.24 % in experiment.
