To understand the cause of the high light transmittance of the human eye, the optical effects of the collagen fibers of the stroma layer, which constitute the majority of the cornea, were analyzed. These collagen fibers, approximately 20 nm in diameter, have a regular arrangement. Accordingly, the optical properties of the collagen fibers and the fiber layer were analyzed by simulation. A standing wave was formed in the incident space by the overlapping incident light and the light reflected by the plate. In addition, it was confirmed that when the collagen fibers are arranged in a layer, the light transmittance periodically changes, depending on the number of fiber layers. The standing wave was formed in the incident space, and the light's intensity distribution was changed by the nanoscale collagen fibers in the section with the collagen layer, which affected the transmittance. To explain this phenomenon, the collagen fiber was defined as a second light source, and an attempt was made to describe the simulation results in terms of overlap of the incident light with the light emitted from the collagen fiber.
Purpose : We present a novel method for the analysis of blue light applied by the analysis method of David L. with optical experiment and blue light by measuring the transmittance by dividing it by the refractive power in the spectacle lens made by MR8. Methods : The lenses of -8.00D, -7.00D, -6.00D, -5.00D, -4.00D, -3.00D, and 0.00D manufactured by MR8 being sold in the market, were selected. The transmittance was measured at the intervals of 5 nm from 200 to 1000 nm with UV-VIS Spectrophotometers (SolidSpec 3700), and they were in range of the blue light (380 to 500 nm) analyzed by a David L.'s analysis method. Results : All of the MR8 lenses selected for this study almost completely blocked at the UV range. A lens of -8.00D was measured as the lowest transmittance of 59.56% in the blue light area and low values were measured at the blue areas 1 and 2 according to the analysis of David L.In the infrared ray area, the transmittance of all lenses gradually decreased. The average value of the luminous transmittance was 23.67% ~ 26.33% and then gradually decreased from -4.00D. Conclusion : Applying the analysis of David L., a minimum of 41.28% and a maximum of 46.60% were measured at the blue light 1 area and a minimum of 87.30% and a maximum of 97.55% were measured at the blue light 2 area. A minimum of 86.83% and a maximum of 96.55% were measured at the blue light 3 area, and the average was 94%. The luminous transmittance of the -3.00D lens was 26.33%, which was the highest, and that -8.00D was 23.67%, which was the lowest.

This paper attempted to suggest the standards of light transmittance based on the analysis of the changes in contrast sensitivity of photopic condition according to the light transmittance of tinted lenses. The subjects of the experiment were 24 male and 13 female adults with normal ocular functions. They were asked to wear four tinted lenses (gray, brown, red, and green) in turn. The light transmittance of the lenses were 80~90%, 60~80%, 43~60%, and 30~43%, respectively. Contrast sensitivities were measured by using F.A.C.T. chart. The results showed that contrast sensitivities were decreased in proportion to the decrease of the light transmittance, and visual sensitivity of brown lenses were the highest and that of red lenses were the lowest. The results of the experiments suggested that the light transmittance should be over 38% for brown, gray and green lenses, and over 52% for red lenses. Accordingly the appropriate light transmittance should be considered when tinted lenses are selected for the purpose of eye protection in everyday life.

Objectives: To evaluate and compare light-transmittance in dental tissues and dental composite restorations using the incremental double-layer technique with varying layer thickness. Materials and Methods: B1-colored natural teeth slabs were compared to dental restoration build-ups with A2D and B1E-colored nanofilled, supra-nanofilled, microfilled, and microhybrid composites. The enamel layer varied from 0.3, 0.5, or 1.2 mm thick, and the dentin layer was varied to provide a standardized 3.7 mm overall sample thickness (n = 10). All increments were light-cured to $16J/cm^2$ with a multi-wave LED (Valo, Ultradent). Using a spectrophotometer, the samples were irradiated by an RGB laser beam. A voltmeter recorded the light output signal to calculate the light-transmittance through the specimens. The data were analyzed using 1-way analysis of variance followed by the post hoc Tukey's test (p = 0.05). Results: Mean light-transmittance observed at thicker final layers of enamel were significantly lower than those observed at thinner final layers. Within 1.2 mm final enamel resin layer (FERL) thickness, all composites were similar to the dental tissues, with exception of the nanofilled composite. However, within 0.5 mm FERL thickness, only the suprananofilled composite showed no difference from the dental tissues. Within 0.3 mm FERL thickness, none of the composites were similar to the dental tissues. Conclusions: The supra-nanofilled composite had the most similar light-transmittance pattern when compared to the natural teeth. However, for other composites, thicker FERL have a greater chance to match the light-transmittance of natural dental tissues.
Purpose: To know the transmittance of light when wearing shading goggles and to protect eyes from blue light emitted from dental scanner when using CAD/CAM works or inducing polymerization reactions of dental resin with curing unit and infrared light occurred when melting Dental precious metal and non-precious metal alloys. Methods: By measuring and comparing the average transmittances of blue light, visible light and infrared ight by using UV-Vis Spectrophotometer analysis measuring instrument, I compared 3 GREEN Color Goggles worn when casting Dental precious metal and non-precious metal alloys, and compared each of YELLOW, ORANGE Color Goggles worn when using Dental CAD/CAM scanners and Light Curing(LED) the Dental resin. Results: In blue light range, YELLOW Color Goggles are more effective than ORANGE Color Goggles. In infrared light range, No.12 Goggles are more effective than No.10 and No.11 Goggles. Conclusion: When wearing blue light shading goggles to avoid harmful blue light occurred in using dental scanner and curing light, and when wearing infrared light shading goggles to avoid harmful infrared light during casting, to avoid the Side Effects like transmittance rate of blue light and infrared light goggles becomes too high to block appropriate amount of harmful light or too low that causing lower image clarity.

With rapid urbanization and reckless urban development in the 21st century, the urban environment has gradually gotten worse, and urban heat island effect has been dramatically intensified. Thus, the importance of street greenery that can mitigate the urban heat island effect has further been highlighted. In this regard, this study was aimed at selecting suitable plant species for street greenery to reduce the urban heat island effect. Towards this end, five roads located in Seocho-gu, Seoul were selected as study sites, and plant species composition and difference of surface temperature were compared and analyzed in relation to the light transmittance. The street with the greatest temperature difference is Bangbae-ro(Platanus occidentalis). On the other hand, the road with the lowest temperature difference is Nambusunhwan-doro(Metasequoia Glyptostroboides). The effect of temperature reduction was found to be associated with light transmittance.Bangbae-ro(Platanus occidentalis) with the lowest light transmittance showed the highest temperature difference and Nambusunhwan-doro(Metasequoia Glyptostroboides) with the highest light transmittance showed the lowest temperature difference. It is analyzed that there are most differences in temperature when the amount of lights coming in between the crown is small. The temperature reduction effect can be obtained by planting deciduous broad-leaved trees. Also species with dense crown and broad width of crown will be able to maximize the effect of temperature reduction. In future studies, it will be necessary to expand the other species of trees in the street, and analyze the germicidal trees and shrubs as well as the differences in the packaging materials.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree of blocking of blue light of the tips and goggles of the curing light during the dental treatment using the blue light of the light curing. The light curing tips and goggles were placed on a UV-Vis spectrometer and the results of light transmission were analyzed. Comparative analysis. As a result, all four types of light curing tips used in the analysis showed excellent blue light blocking effect. In the case of safety goggles, red-type goggles showed blue light transmittance similar to those of light curing than yellow-type goggles. As a result, it is recommended that the attachment of the light curing with high degree of blue light blocking and the wearing of safety glasses are necessary to protect the eyes. This behavior is thought to reduce persistent irritation and fatigue in the eyes.
Purpose : The size and regular array of the collagen fibers in the corneal stroma have very close correlation with transparency. Simulation was carried out to investigate the change of light transmittance according to the array structure and collagen fiber layer thickness. Methods : The collagen fibers in corneal stroma were arranged in regular hexagonal, hexagonal, square and random shapes with OptiFDTD simulation software, and the light transmittance was analyzed. In square array, the light transmittance according to the density change was confirmed by when the number of collagen fibers in the simulation space was the same and the light transmittance was examined when the number and density of collagen fibers were changed. Results : When the number of collagen fibers is the same, the density becomes smaller and the thickness of the fibrous layer becomes thicker in order of arrangement of square, regular hexagonal, random and hexagonal. As a result of measuring the light transmittance by changing the array structure, the light transmittance measured at the detector at the same position was almost similar regardless of the array structure. In the detectors D0, D1, D2 and D3, the maximum transmittance is shown in square, hexagonal and square, regular hexagonal and regular hexagonal array structure, and the minimum transmittance is hexagonal, random, hexagonal and square, and square array structure. However, the difference between the maximum transmittance and the minimum transmittance was almost the same within 1%. When the number of collagen fibers was the same, the light transmittance of the rectangular array structure decreased with increasing fiber layer thickness. And as the thickness increased, the light transmittance decreased more when the number of collagen fibers decreased. Conclusion : Even though the collagen array structure changed, the light transmittance is almost similar regardless of the arrangement structure. However, as the array structure was changed, the thickness of the collagen fiber layer changed, and as the thickness increased, the light transmittance decreased. In other words, the transparency of the corneal stroma is more closely related to the thickness of the fibrous layer than the array of collagen fibers.
Explicit expressions for the transmission pseudo-ellipsometric constants and transmittance of a semi-transparent glass substrate coated with thin films are presented to determine the optical constants of a very weakly absorbing thin film coated on a glass substrate. The intensity of the multiply reflected light inside the semi-transparent substrate is superposed incoherently and the light absorption by the substrate is properly treated, so that modeling analysis of thin films coated on a semi-transparent substrate can be performed with increased accuracy. The extinction coefficient derived from transmittance analysis is compared to that from ellipsometric analysis in the weakly absorbing region, and the difference between the two extinction coefficients is discussed in relation to the sensitivities of the transmittance and ellipsometric constants. This transmittance analysis, together with ellipsometric analysis, is applied to a glass substrate coated with a SiN thin film, and it is shown that the thickness and complex refractive index of the SiN thin film can be determined accurately, even though the extinction coefficient is very small.
Smart windows are used as windows and doors to determine cooling and heating efficiency in the construction field. It's characteristics can increase the energy saving efficiency. In addition, the function of the smart window that can control the light transmittance transmitted from the external environment of the building to the building according to the needs of the user is attracting attention. In this study, a liquid crystal cell capable of controlling light transmittance of 297 × 210 ㎟ was fabricated by using a liquid crystal device as an optical shutter. Analysis of transmittance change according to driving voltage and driving stability according to thermal environment, We confirmed the applicability of building exterior materials as smart windows.
