A Study on the Maintenance Data Analysis of Vehicle Parts of Yongin Light Rail and Condition-Based Prediction Maintenance (용인경전철 차량부품 정비 데이터 분석 및 상태기반 예지 유지보수 방안 연구)

  • The Yongin Light Rail train was manufactured by Bombardier Transportation in Canada in 2008 and is a privately invested railway line that has been operating in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, since 2013. When the frequency of train failure increases due to aging, and there is a delay in the delivery period of imported parts used in the Bombardier manufactured trains, timely vehicle maintenance may not be performed due to lack of parts. To solve this problem, it is necessary to build a 'vehicle parts maintenance demand forecasting system' that analyzes the accurate and actual maintenance demand annual based on the condition of vehicle parts. The full scope of analysis in this paper analyzes failure data from various angles after opening of Yongin light rail vehicle to analyze failure patterns for each part and identify replacement cycles according to possible failures and consumption of parts. Based on this study, it is expected that Yongin Light Rail's maintenance system will change from the existing time-based replacement (TBM) concept to the condition-based maintenance (CBM) concept. It is expected that this study will improve the efficiency of the Yongin Light Rail maintenance system and increase vehicle availability. This paper is a fundamental for establishing of a system for predicting the replacement timing of vehicle parts for Yongin Light Rail. It reports the results of data analysis on some vehicle parts.

Running characteristics of rubber-tired AGT light rail vehicle (고무차륜 AGT 경량전철 차량의 주행특성 해석)

  • Dynamic model of the Korea standardized rubber-tired AGT light rail vehicle, and boundary conditions between vehicle and infrastructures (running track, guidance rail) were defined to analyze vehicular vibration behaviors occurred at the worst condition for straight running track. Using the commercialized software RecurDyn, resultant forces and vibration accelerations of car body and bogies were analyzed. Based on the Korea performance test criteria for urban transit, vertical and lateral vibration of car body were calculated and evaluated as wearing condition of guide wheels. And resultant forces between bogie guidance frame and guide rail in straight running track were analyzed. As the results, the Korea standardized rubber-tired AGT light rail vehicle satisfied the performance criteria and design requirement .

  • This study was aimed to verify the stable interruption characteristics between power collector and 3rd rail type conductor rail for the Korean-standardized rubber-tired AGT light rail vehicle. At the test track for the Korean-standardized rubber-tired AGT light rail vehicle, interruption ratios, stresses, vibrations, and contact force variations were measured by test conditions, having various train speed. As the results, it was verified that developed 3rd rail type conductor maintains interruption characteristics, which can supply stable electric power.

  • The dynamic model was developed to analyze vibration acceleration and ride comfort during the operation of rubber-tired light rail vehicles. The ride comfort for standing passengers was analyzed in accordance with ISO 2631-1, UIC 513R, and CEN Draft prENV 12299 using this model. The result was applied to the detail design of Korean-standard, rubber-tired light rail vehicles, and the detail specifications related to ride comfort was determined based on this result. The ride comfort test was performed along the test track by using 2 car-train, and its result was compared with that of the ride comfort analysis, verifying the validity of the developed dynamic model. It was also verified whether or not the developed Korean-standardized, rubber-tired light rail vehicle met specified target specifications on ride comfort.

  • These days, in Korea, according to improving the standard living, people generally work 5 days a week and it results more leisure hours. On weekends or in specific season, travel to mountain region around the major city is much in demand, and, in case of public transportation, the demand exceeds the supply. So, people tend to go other places, even overseas, for their holidays. The situation in Korea reflects the needs for mountainous light rail transit system with the object of convenient and rapid transport of passengers. In this paper, the guideline for mountainous light rail transit planing is proposed, and the representative mountainous light rail transit system is analyzed to choose the proper mountainous light rail transit system which adapts the demand for transportation and the terrain in Korea.

  • This study was aimed to establish the acceptable contact force range between power collector and 3rd rail type conductor rail, and ramp slope for the Korean standardized rubber-tired AGT light rail vehicle. Dynamic behavior of the power collector, contact force variation and interruption in operation, were analyzed in the worst installation tolerance and various ramp slope of the conductor rail. The power collector was designed and manufactured to satisfy the Korean Standardized Specifications of the rubber-tired AGT light rail vehicle.

  • RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety) study has received far less rigorous analysis in the system performance and integration level, and RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) research has been studying to improve the maintenance efficiency in the operational steps based on collected data of real operational cases. This paper analyzes the basic concepts based on KS X ISO/IEC 15288 system life-cycle process in the whole system for the light rail transit construction, and the research suggests an approach to the management process of the applicable main tasks. The paper "Management Process Study to RAMS Application of Light Rail Transit System" introduces Airport Rail cases and guidelines by using RAMS which is the major role in the system engineering technical process of ISO/IEC 15288 (International Organization for Standardization/International Electrotechnical Commission 15288) to apply RAMS in domestic light rail transit efficiently, the aim of this study is to broaden of understanding RAMS.
