  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of tertiary amine photo-accelerator on the dental properties of visible light-activated, polymeric, dental restorative composites (PDRC) through the measurement of mechanical and esthetic properties. The surface of barium silicate was hydrophobically treated to improve the interfacial behavior with the acrylic resin matrix. Camphorquinone was adopted as a photo-initiator with 0.5 wt% based on the resin matrix. It was discovered that the dental properties of PDRC were primarily dependent on the chemical structure rather than the added content of photo-accelerator.

  • This paper introduces a technology for robust and low maintenance cost sensor network capable to detect accelerations below a micro-g in a wide frequency bandwidth (above 1,000 Hz). Sensor networks with such performance are critical for navigation, seismology, acoustic sensing, and for the health monitoring of civil structures. The approach is based on the fabrication of an array of high sensitivity accelerometers, each utilizing Fabry-Perot cavity with wavelength-dependent reflectivity to allow embedded optical detection and serialization. The unique feature of the approach is that no local power source is required for each individual sensor. Instead one global light source is used, providing an input optical signal which propagates through an optical fiber network from sensor-to-sensor. The information from each sensor is embedded onto the transmitted light as an intrinsic wavelength division multiplexed signal. This optical "rainbow" of data is then assessed providing real-time sensing information from each sensor node in the network. This paper introduces the Fabry-Perot based accelerometer and examines its critical features, including the effects of imperfections and resolution estimates. It then presents serialization techniques for the creation of systems of arrayed sensors and examines the effects of serialization on sensor response. Finally, a fabrication process is proposed to create test structures for the critical components of the device, which are dynamically characterized.

  • Organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs) or electroluminescent devices have attracted much attention because of their possible application as large-area light-emitting displays. Their structure was based on employing a multilayer device structure containing an emitting layer and a carrier transporting layer of suitable organic materials. In this study, several Tb complexes such as Tb(ACAC)$_3$(Phen), Tb(ACAC)$_3$(Phen-Cl) and Tb(TPB)$_3$(Phen) were synthesized and the photoluminescence(PL) and electroluminescence (EL) characteristics of their thin films were investigated by fabricating the devices having a structure of anode/HTL/terbium-oomplex/ETL/cathode, where TPD was used as an hole transporting and Alq$_3$ and TAZ-Si were used as an electron transporting materials. It was found that the photoluminescence(PL) and electroluminescence(EL) characteristics of these terbium complexes were dependent upon the ligands coordinated to terbium metal. Details on the explanation of electrical transport phenomena of the structure with I-V characteristics of the OLEDs using the trapped-charge-limited current(TCLC) model will be discussed.

  • The reflective type color filter for the liquid crystal displays (LCD) was produced using cholesteric liquid crystal monomers whose phase is characterized by the unique optical features of selective reflection. Periodic micrometer scale hemi-spherical photoresist (PR) patterns were formed on glass substrates by thermal reflow method after photolithography. Cholesteric color filter films for red, green and blue light reflections were then produced and the viewing angle dependence was investigated and compared with that of reflected light on the non-patterned substrates.

  • We have studied the dependence of current-voltage characteristics of Organic Light Emitting Diodes(OLEDs) on temperature-dependent variation. The OLEDs have been based on the molecular compounds. N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis(3-methylphenyl)-1, 1'- biphenyl-4, 4'-diamine (TPD) as a hole transport. tris(8-hydroxyquinolinoline) aluminum (III) ($Alq_3$) as an electron transport and Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT:PSS) as a buffer layer. The current-voltage characteristics were measured in the temperature range of 10K and 300K. A conduction mechanism in OLEDs has been interpreted in terms of space-charge-limited current(SCLC) and tunneling region.Ā᐀會Ā᐀衅?⨀頱岒ᄀĀ저會Ā저?⨀⡌ឫഀĀ᐀會Ā᐀㡆?⨀쁌ឫഀĀ᐀會Ā᐀遆?⨀郞ග瀀ꀏ會Ā?⨀〲岒ऀĀ᐀會Ā᐀䁇?⨀젲岒Ā㰀會Ā㰀顇?⨀끩Ā㈀會Ā㈀?⨀䡪ഀĀ᐀會Ā᐀䡈?⨀Ā᐀會Ā᐀ꁈ?⨀硫Ā저會Ā저?⨀샟ගऀĀ저會Ā저偉?⨀栰岒ഀĀ저會Ā저ꡉ?⨀1岒ഀĀ저會Ā저J?⨀惝ග؀Ā؀會Ā؀塊?⨀ග䈀Ā切

  • The size of pupil with pupillary light reflex is determined by the amount of a luminance. and it is dependent with the distribution function of the retinal illuminance which is the amount of transmittance for the external light due to the size of pupil, and the detector of cone and rod due to the amount of the luminance. The change of the pupil size with the luminance can be expressed with the mathematical model $$y(x)={\alpha}+{\beta}\frac{1}{1+{e}{x}{p}(x-x_0)/{\theta}}$$ where ${\alpha}$ is the size of the pupil diameter in a maximum value of the luminance, ${\beta}$ is the deviation of the pupil's diameter between maximum and minimum, ${\theta}$ is the parameter showed the degree of a sensitivity. Comparing with the experimental value of P.Moon et al, We known that the equation of the model is very compatible.

  • High aspect ratio microstructures were fabricated by photolithography. The material for the microstructure was photosensitive glass which has good mechanical and electrical insulation properties. The photosensitive glass was exposed to ultraviolet light at 312nm through a chromium mask in which the structures are drawn. After heat treatment process over $500^{\circ}C$, the photosensitive glass was etched in a 10% hydrofluoric acid solution with ultrasonic conditions. Final dimension of the micro-framework was greatly dependent on the thickness of photosensitive glass, mask pattern, ultraviolet light exposure and etching conditions. The maximum aspect ratio of the micro-framework obtained from this work was over 30.

  • Using a squash plant, a chilling-sensitive species, and a spinach plant, a chilling-resistant one, effects of chilling temperature on the photosynthetic machinery were studied in terms of chlorophyll fluorescence. When thylakoid membranes were isolated and subjected to incubation at different temperatures, spinach showed stable photosystem II activity at the low temperature side, in contrast to squash which showed quite severe inactivation at low temperature. When parameters of chlorophyll fluorescence were examined, chilling in darkness did not affect either Fv/Fm or photochemical and non-photochemical quenching, in both types of plants. However, chilling of squash plants under irradiance of medium intensity caused a specific decrease in Fv/Fm accompanied by a decline in energy-dependent quenching. Contrastingly, photosystem li of spinach plants were not much affected by light-chilling. When the pool size of zeaxanthin was examined after exposure to high light at different temperatures, squash plants was shown to have a much lower content of antheraxanthin + zeaxanthin, as compared to spinach plants, during low-temperature photoinhibition. These results suggest that chilling-sensitive plants have low capacity to dissipate excitation energy nonradiatively, when they are exposed to low-temperature photoinhibition, and, as a consequence, more vulnerable to photoinhibitory, damage to the photosynthetic apparatus.

  • The objective of this study is to analyze the images of basic bodice apparel displayed on the PC monitor connected to digital camera, and to suggest a more efficient alternative method that enables the expert judge to evaluate the subject both traditional method and displayed images on the computer. Appearance evaluation has traditionally been assessed using subjective method dependent upon expertjudges' senses with the naked eye after direct observation of a living model. This research faces the new challenge focusing on the sensory evaluation of appearance for basic apparel patterns, which can overcome the space and time limitations of the traditional feet methods. A total fifteen basic bodice garment (3 types of $pattern\;{\times}\;5$ subject) were constructed with same fabrics. The appearance evaluation items consist of lg questions of upper torso. The image takes font, back and side view of the dressed subject with three different situations. Data was analyzed using percentiles, standard deviation T-test and ANOVA. Taken together, the present result of appearance evaluation through digital camera image shows that there is a significant difference ($p{\leq}.001$) in the response to the placement of the neckline, the waist & shoulder dart, the general ease of the bust & waist area, the side seam, the perpendicular of the waist hem and general acceptability between the above three different situations; the image in the condition of greenish yellow background with front light showed the highest score through all questions. These results depend on the kind of background colors with the light.
