혼합과채주스의 가공방법에 따른 저장 중 품질특성 변화에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Quality Changes of Mixed Fruit and Vegetable Juices as Influenced by Processing Conditions during Storage)

  • Physicochemical properties and microbiological quality chanties were investigated on mixed fruit and vegetable juices (apple, carrot and cucumber) stored at 4$^{\circ}C$ without pasteurization(NT), with light piasteurization (LP; 66$^{\circ}C$, 10 sec) and with full pasteurization(FP; 90$^{\circ}C$, 60 sec). Effects of ultrafiltration (UF) on the changes during storage were also examined. pH, viscosity, a-value and b-value remained relatively constant and all samples revealed Newtonian characterisitics. Total acidity and turbidity tended to increase slightly; however, total vitamin C content and L-value slowly decreased during storage up to about 2 months. During the first 4 weeks storage, soluble solids content slowly increased and then decreased. Mold and Yeast and Bacteria were not detected in LP, UP and UF treated samples during storage studied; however, E. coli were detected after 24 days storage. No distinctive storage effects were found among samples prepared; however, ultrafiltration had a considerable effect on the color and soluble solids content of mixed fruit and vegetable juice.

FRAPCON analysis of cladding performance during dry storage operations

  • There is an increasing need in the United States and around the world to move used nuclear fuel from wet storage in fuel pools to dry storage in casks stored at independent spent fuel storage installations or interim storage sites. Under normal conditions, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission limits cladding temperature to $400^{\circ}C$ for high-burnup (>45 GWd/mtU) fuel, with higher temperatures allowed for low-burnup fuel. An analysis was conducted with FRAPCON-4.0 on three modern fuel designs with three representative used nuclear fuel storage temperature profiles that peaked at $400^{\circ}C$. Results were representative of the majority of US light water reactor fuel. They conservatively showed that hoop stress remains below 90 MPa at the licensing temperature limit. Results also show that the limiting case for hoop stress may not be at the highest rod internal pressure in all cases but will be related to the axial temperature and oxidation profiles of the rods at the end of life and in storage.

Determination of Optimal Storage Condition for Pre-packed Hanwoo Loin

  • The aim of this study was to determine the optimal storage condition of pre-packed Hanwoo beef without freezing. Hanwoo loin was purchased from a local distributor at 48 h after slaughter, then sliced in $1.5{\pm}0.5$ cm thickness, and packed in a polyethylene (PE) tray covered with linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) film. The studied factors to set the optimal storage condition were chamber temperature (5, 2.5 and $-1^{\circ}C$ for 14 d), cooling method (direct and indirect cooling system), and ultraviolet (UV) light irradiation for beef surface sterilization (0, 30, 60, and 120 min). The changes of pH, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) and number of aerobic bacteria were measured during storage. Beef samples stored in $-1^{\circ}C$ showed the minimal increasing rate in TBARS and microbial growth. After 15 d of storage, there was no significant difference in pH and TBARS values. However, the microbial population of beef stored in direct type cooling chamber ($4.25{\pm}0.66$ Log CFU/g) was significantly lower than that of beef stored in indirect type chamber ($6.47{\pm}0.08$ Log CFU/g) (p<0.05). After 4 d of storage, 60 or 120 min UV light irradiated beef samples showed significantly lower microbial population, and at 14 d of storage, 60 min UV irradiated beef sample showed significantly lower microbial population ($3.14{\pm}0.43$ Log CFU/g) than control ($4.46{\pm}0.13$ Log CFU/g) (p<0.05). However, TBARS values of 60 or 120 min UV light irradiated beef samples were significantly higher than non-irradiated beef sample after 4 d of storage (p<0.05).

  • In HDD industry, many technologies have been developed and investigated as means to increase the areal density of drives. Especially, heat assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) system has been considered as the next generation storage device. Most of the HAMR systems use near field optics as heating mechanism. Therefore, light delivery system is indispensable. We considered the light delivery system with laser diode (LD) mount and optical fiber. Mass and stiffness of the HAMR system using these LD mount and optical fiber are changed. The mass and stiffness of the HAMR system affects the slider dynamic behavior. It is necessary to analyze touch down (TD) and take off (TO). And, we performed the TD-TO experiment with HAMR suspension. Finally, we analyzed the result of TD-TO experiments. And we suggested the design of HAMR suspension to improve TD-TO performance.

The Effects of Storage Conditions on the Stability of Porcine Placenta Extract-loaded Liposome Formulations

  • We aimed to evaluate the effect of temperature, pH, and light conditions on the stability of porcine placental extract (PPE)-loaded liposomes with different surface charges. The size distribution profiles and in vitro release patterns were investigated by dynamic light scattering method and spectrophotometry. The stability of PPE-loaded liposomes was affected by the surface charges of the liposomes. As compared to neutral and anionic liposomes, cationic liposome formulations showed significantly lower physical stability. At the test storage conditions of different temperatures and pHs, the mean sizes of cationic PPE-loaded liposomes substantially increased. In contrast, neutral and anionic liposomes did not reveal significant changes in mean sizes upon various storage conditions. The neutral and anionic liposomes showed no significant differences in the release profiles of PPE after storage at various temperatures and pHs. Our results indicate that anionic and neutral liposome compositions might be more suitable for the formulations of PPE providing the higher stability.

Optimal Conditions for the Post-Harvest Storage of Rhizoids of the Brown Seaweed Undaria pinnatifida (Phaeophyta) for Arachidonic Acid Production

  • The non-utilized biomass of the aquacultured seaweed Undaria pinnatifida, particularly the rhizoid, is an alternative source of arachidonic acid (AA). Of the five aquacultured kelps that were tested, U. pinnatifida yielded the highest amount of AA, which was isolated from the rhizoids. Its identity (C20:4 n-6) was confirmed from gas chromatography-mass spectrometry spectral data. The optimal conditions for post-harvest storage or pretreatment of the rhizoids in Provasoli's enriched seawater for AA extraction were determined to be pH 7.8, 2% $CO_2$-enriched air, 20 ${\mu}mol\;m^{-2}\;s^{-1}$ light, and $10^{\circ}C$. Under these conditions, the AA content after 1 day of storage was enhanced by up to 127%. In the absence of light under ambient aeration, the AA content after 1 day of storage diminished to 90%. Rhizoids collected late in the season (April and May) contained the highest amounts of AA (approximately 2.5 mg/g tissue).

저광 조사 저온 저장 중 PAR의 각 파장에 의한 토마토 플러그 묘의 형태 및 엽색의 변화 (Morphology and Leaf Color Changes of Grafted Tomato Plug Seedlings Irradiated by Different Wavelengths of Photosynthetically Active Radiation during Low Light Irradiation Storage)

  • 본 연구는 저광 조사 저온 저장 중 광합성유효방사(PAR)내의 각 파장이 토마토 묘의 형태와 엽색 변화에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여 실시되었다. $10{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$의 온도와 피크 파장이 각각 405, 450, 505, 545, 600, 645, 680, 700nm의 발광다이오드로부터 조사된 $3{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$의 광합성유효광량 자속밀도 조건에서 토마토 접목묘를 28일간 저장하였다. 405, 450, 505nm의 파장에서 저장된 묘의 잎은 다른 파장에서 저장된 잎에 비해 직립하는 경향을 보였으며, 특히 450과 505nm 파장에서 저장된 묘의 경우 엽축 생장이 억제되면서 콤팩트한 형태를 보였다. 파장의 변화에 따른 엽색의 규칙적인 변화는 저장 전후를 비교하여 관찰되지 않았으나, 405와 700nm 파장에서 저장된 묘는 엷은 녹색을 나타내었다. 저광 조사 저온 저장 중, $450{\sim}545nm$ 영역의 광조사는 토마토 묘의 직립을 유도하여 외관상 건강한 묘로 인정 받는데 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

건조(乾燥) 고추 저장(貯藏) 중(中)의 변색(變色)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (Color and Carotenoid Changes During Storage of Dried Red Pepper)

  • 건조(乾燥) 고추의 변색(變色) 요인(要因)을 구명(究明)키 위(爲)하여 수분(水分) 활성(活性), 광선(光線), 산소(酸素) 및 온도(溫度)를 달리 했을 때의 capsanthin의 소장(消長)과 또 몇가지 구장재(句裝材)로 가루, 원형(原形) 및 원형(原形) 압축(壓縮) 상태(狀態)로 포장(包裝)하여 capsanthin 양(量)과 색도(色度)에 관한 시험(試驗) 결과(結果)는 다음과 같다. 1. 고추의 capsanthin에 미치는 상온하(常溫下)($25^{\circ}C$)의 한계(限界) 수분(水分) 활성(活性)은 0.75이었다. 2. Capsanthin의 감소(減少)는 적외선(赤外線), 백열등(白熱燈) 하(下)에서 보다 자외선(紫外線) 이 심했다. 3. Capsanthin의 질산(窒素) 가스 내(內)에서는 거의 감소(減少)가 없었고 공기(空氣) 내(內)에서 심함 감소(減少)가 있는 것으로 보아 고추의 변색(變色)은 주(主)로 산화(酸化) 작용(作用)에 기인(基因)하는 것으로 본다. 4. $9{\sim}11$월(月)의 상온(常溫)과 저온(低溫) 저장(貯藏) 시(時)에는 포장(包裝)된 고추의 capsanthin의 변화(變化)는 별로 차이(差異)가 없었다. 5. 형태(形態) 별(別) 3개월(個月) 저장(貯藏) 시험(試驗) 결과(結果)는 capsanthin 양(量)과 색도(色度)는 가루 저장(貯藏)이 가장 높았다. 6. 포장(包裝) 재료(材料) 별(別) 밀봉(密封) 저장(貯藏) 시험(試驗) 결과(結果)는 투수성(透水性)과 투기성(透氣性)이 없는 재료(材料)가 P.E.보다 capsanthin 양(量)과 색도(色度)가 높았다.

피복식물용 자생잡초 얼치기완두와 새완두 종자의 저장방법이 발아에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Storage Period and Germination Condition on Germination Rate of Vicia tetrasperma and V. hirsuta)

  • 자생잡초인 얼치기완두와 새완두를 피복식물로 이용하기 위해 이들 종자의 저장기간 및 방법, 온도 및 광조건이 발아율에 미치는 영향을 구명하기 위한 시험을 수행하였다. 2004년과 2005년 6월에 충청남도 당진에서 채종하여 일정기간 상온에서 저장한 종자를 $15/5^{\circ}C$, $20/10^{\circ}C$, $25/15^{\circ}C$, $30/20^{\circ}C$(주/야) 조건에서 발아율을 조사하였다. 2004년과 2005년에 얼치기 완두와 새완두 모두 채종후 3개월 동안 상온에서 저장한 후의 발아율은 30% 이하로 낮게 나타났다. 2005년에 채종되어 12개월 상온저장 후 $25/15^{\circ}C$로 처리한 얼치기완두는 82%의 높은 발아율을 보였으며, 시간이 경과함에 따라서 발아율이 증가하는 양상을 나타내었다. 반면에 새완두는 채종 6, 9, 12개월 후에 33%에서 53%의 발아율을 보여 저장기간이 발아율에 별다른 영향을 미치지 않았다. 얼치기완두와 새완두 종자는 저온보다는 상온에서 저장하는 것이 효과적이었으며, 광이나 고온처리가 발아에 영향을 미치지는 않았다.
