Most of pitch/yaw reducers consist of several planetary geartrains. Planetary geartrains make gearboxes to be small and light, low noise and good efficiency. Most important thing in the planetary geartrain is load distribution on the gear tooth flank. In this study, the effect of output shaft bearings on the load distribution of gear tooth flank has been investigated. The commercial software was employed to compare the load distribution of two models depending on the bearing type. The spherical roller bearing(SRB) and the cylindrical roller bearing(CRB) were used as output shaft bearings in the $1^{st}$ model, and two taper roller bearings(TRB) were used in the $2^{nd}$ model. As a result, it was found that the $2^{nd}$ model. showed better performances on the load distribution of gear tooth flank, this results stated that the output shaft bearing system could be important consideration when designing reducers for wind turbine systems.

In this paper, a performance of bi-directional DC/DC converter using PFM control at whole load range is analyzed. A bi-directional DC/DC converter using PFM control in this paper can be soft switching operation with LC series resonant circuit. It's difficult to expect a high efficiency at whole load range in general resonant converter because of limitation of soft switching area. Therefore converter used in this paper has a variable frequency PFM control to overcome a limitation of soft switching area and it makes a high efficiency at whole load range by implementing a soft switching at light load area of restricted soft switching. The high efficiency at whole load range is verified by simulation and experimental result.
While establishing adequate load paths in the light-frame wood structures is critical to maintain the overall structural integrity and avoid significant damage under extreme wind events, the understanding of the load paths is limited by the high redundant nature of this building type. The objective of the current study is to evaluate the system effects and investigate the load paths in the wood structures especially the older buildings for a better performance assessment of the existing building stock under high winds, which will provide guidance for building constructions in the future. This is done by developing building models with configurations that are suspicious to induce failure per post damage reconnaissance. The effect of each configuration to the structural integrity is evaluated by the first failure wind speed, amajor indicator beyond the linear to the nonlinear range. A 3D finite-element (FE) building model is adopted as a control case that is modeled using a validated methodology in a highly-detailed fashion where the nonlinearity of connections is explicitly simulated. This model is then altered systematically to analyze the effects of configuration variations in the model such as the gable end sheathing continuity and the gable end truss stiffness, etc. The resolution of the wind loads from scaled wind tunnel tests is also discussed by comparing the effects to wind loads derived from large-scale wind tests.
An unbraced cantilever beam subjected to loads which cause bending about the major axis may buckle in a flexuraltorsional mode by deflecting laterally and twisting. For the efficient design of these structures, design engineers require a simple accurate equation for the elastic flexural-torsional buckling load. Existing solutions for the flexural-torsional buckling of cantilever beams have mainly been derived by numerical methods which are tedious to implement. In this research, an attempt is made to derive a theoretical equation by the energy method using different buckled shapes. However, the results of a finite element flexural-torsional buckling analysis reveal that the buckled shapes for the lateral deflection and twist rotation are different for cantilever beams. In particular, the buckled shape for the twist rotation also varies with the section size. In light of these findings, the finite element flexural-torsional buckling analysis was then used to derive simple accurate equations for the elastic buckling load and moment for cantilever beams subjected to end point load, uniformly distributed load and end moment. The results are compared with previous research and it was found that the equations derived in this study are accurate and simple to use.
The purpose of this paper is to evaluate experimentally the compressive performance of horizontal joints for light-weight hybrid panel in-filled with light-weight foamed mortar. The parameters include the presence of light-weight foamed mortar, the specific gravity of light-weight foamed mortar (0.8, 1.2), the finishing materials (light-weight foamed mortar, Oriented Strand Board [OSB], gypsum board), and the fixed shape of the hybrid panel. As the improved details for fixed end, the peak strength and the stiffness of the light-weight hybrid panel are enhanced as follows: 1.07-2.7 times in peak load, 15-24 times in initial stiffness. The peak strength of the light-weight hybrid panel obtained by the test result is in agreement with the calculations, which is the criterion value according to the domestic code.
Purpose: Generally, 30% of the total energy consumption in office building is used for artificial indoor lightings, and almost 75-85% of electric power in fluorescent and Light-Emitting Diode (LED) lightings can be dissipated as a form of heat into indoor environment. The heat generated by indoor lightings can cause the increase of cooling load in office buildings. Thus, it its important to consider indoor lightings as a heat and light source, simultaneously. Method: In this study, we installed two kinds of indoor lightings including fluorescent and LED lightings and measured surface temperature of both indoor lightings. In addition, we obtained ambient temperature of indoor space and finally calculated total heat dissipated from plenum area and surface of lightings. Result: Total indoor heat gain was 87.17Wh and 201.36Wh in cases of six 40W-LED lightings and 64W-fluorescent lightings, respectively.
The purpose of this study was to measure the Micro-Knoop Hardness of three commercial visible light-cured composite resins (Plurafil-super, He1iosit and Durafi) according to the difference of depth and shade. Specimens of the resin were prepapared in plastic tubes 5mm in diameter with height of 5mm, and the tubes were put into the columned holes in stone molds. The molds were exposed to the visible light through the hole 5mm in diameter in metal plate. Specimens were sectioned (longitudinally) with disk. Knoop Hardness measurements were made at the depth of surface, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0mm from the surface to the deep portion. Knoop Hardness numbers were taken on each depth under 20gm load for 10 seconds with Shimadzu Tester. The following results were: 1. The highest hardness value was measured at 0.5mm depth. Then the deeper the depth, the lesser the hardness was observed. 2. The value of hardness was directly propotional to the time of exposure to the light. 3. The hardness of light shade resin was higher than the that of the dark shade. 4. The pattern of hardness change at varying depth is similar to all the experimental materials with no relation to the shade nor exposure time.

Dynamic model of the rubber-tired AGT light rail vehicle. various load and boundary conditions between vehicle and infrastructures(running track. guidance rail) were defined to analyze vehicular dynamic behaviors occurred by inclement weather(strong wind and earthquake). The dynamic analysis were performed by using a commercialized software RecurDyn. whose results for the magnitudes of wind and earthquake showed the resultant forces and accelerations between car body and bogie, or bogie guidance frame and infrastructures in the various track conditions(straight or curved tracks) and train velocities. Based on these results, speed limitation of tile vehicle were proposed to ensure system stability and passengers safety.
It seems possible, by use of vegetable oils, to solve the pollution problem caused by the exhaust gas from diesel-engine vehicles. Recently vegetable oils has received considerable attention as an alternative and clean energy source to the foreseeable depletion of world oil supplies. The objective of this study is to experimentally investigate the characteristics of exhaust emissions of a small diesel engine using light oil, rice-bran oil, heated rice-bran oil, rice-bran oil treated with ultrasonic energy. SO$_2$ emission from the pure and the treated rice-bran oils was not detected at speeds hgher than 1,800 rpm while that from the light oil was detected at all the speeds at 4/4 load. NOx emission form these vegetable oils was generally higher compared to that from the light oil for most of the test conditions. tendency opposite to that of NOx emission. The data obtained in this experiment may be applicable for the desist of small diesel engine using the alternative fuels.
