Information technology and globalization are two main forces that will bring in a social transition in the new millenium. Human Ecology, as a discipline to study the interaction between individuals and families and their environment, needs to define a new mission in changing social environments. This paper analyzes the forces behind this social transition and their influences to the lifestyle of individuals and families. It also defines new missions of Human Ecology in terms of education, subjects and methods of research, and public responsibilities. As the society changes, the paradigm of Human Ecology should be expanded to cover newly appearing environmental factors. It should be emphasized that these expanded areas should be under the unified field of Human Ecology to offer the integrated approaches that other specialized field may not offer.

Along with the heightening development of modern medical technology in the world, the economy and quality of lifestyle has contributed to the increase in the average lifespan. Therefore the issue to deal with the aging population is becoming an important social issue. As aging population becomes a serious social problem, the issue of supporting the senior citizens is confronted with a more difficult situation. From the perspective of senior citizen's physical and social and economic situations, there are great difficulties to deal with, like lowered physical ability compared to the rest of population. Therefore the supply of senior welfare facility that is based on senior citizen's physical characteristics yet provides the opportunity to be independent needs to provided rather than just planning a simple facility that provides living accommodations. This research examines thereinto welfare center's usage of residential circulation system from the senior welfare facilities' type classification to understand the actual usage problem and presents a circulation plan that will resolve the problem.

In this study, small domestic level to examine the development of housing product in terms residential environmental was to determine the spatial plan. And the purpose of this study is to provide a guideline for the lifestyle in small housing. The summary of the result is as follows: 1) Domestic supply and environmental issues in a small housing that drives many are residential. 2) Case of Japan, according to the look she saw a residential environmental assessment items, most services and facilities for the convenience and safety that were. 3)Sustainable development of small houses in order to make various layers sohwahae the development of housing types is needed.

The shift to more practical and simpler lifestyle in the modern society is well reflected in people's preference when it comes to living room space and sofa designs. These elements are intentionally crafted to satisfy the customers' personal needs and wants, sense of comfort, aesthetic preference, and function. This study includes an analysis on the development and conceptualization of sofa designs, exterior materials, and colors of the furniture released by Hanssem, Livart, Borneo, Emons, and Jangin Furniture during the first half of 2007. Modern and practical sofas should be essentially designed according to the customers' demand and current trend. Such design principle is necessary to achieve and maintain competitiveness in the globalizing society.

Presently, sleep disorders are rapidly increasing due to sudden social development and lifestyle diversification. Among the various factors contributing to comfortable sleep, bedclothes are a major factor that readily influence the sleeping conditions, as they directly come in contact with the human body. This study therefore researches use and purchasing status of bedclothes by consumers, as well as the subjective satisfaction. This would accordingly help us to understand the consumers' performance needs, and collect basic data to develop bedclothes that assist comfortable sleep. This study used multiple choice questions and a 5-point Likert scale in a survey-style research. The results of the study indicate that consumers prudently considered practicality and durability, as bedclothes are seldom purchased. The most preferred material was cotton, but the use of microfiber, a new material, has also increased. Further, consumers' preferred lightweight bedclothes that displayed excellent water absorption, thermal insulation, durability, detergency, and flexibility. Hence, bedclothes developed according to the results of this study are expected to aid comfortable sleep.

As lifestyle changes, consumer behavior becomes emotional. And fashion brands are responding the behavior. The brands reflect changes of the needs and the values of consumers. This study analyzed the renovation strategies of the British traditional fashion brands through a literature survey. The common renovation strategies of the British traditional fashion brands were the renovations in the design which harmonized traditional elements with modem elements which is the key, and the renovations in the promotion and the distribution of commodities. The most effective renovation strategy is to combine the three renovations.

The purpose of study is to examine fashion bags reflected women's changing lifestyle, their needs and vogue in modern environment since 20th century. Today fashion bags can be divided into practical bag, evening bag, luxury bag and utility bag. Practical bag is a type of tote which is perfect for working mom or women carrying lots of things on a daily basis. Evening bag is a symbol of femininity in respect for its handmade artistry and impracticality by its small size. Luxury bag embodies human desire for high quality and being part of prestige of luxury brand regardless of its cost. Utilitarian bag was coming from military or sports gear and are popular among young generation armed with mobile computing or crazy about popular music and all kinds of sports. In contemporary fashion culture, fashion bags play an important roles on balancing women's social and domestic life as functional and decorative accessory.

The prevalence of non-communicable disease (NCD) has been continuously increasing due to population ageing, and the change in consumption and lifestyle patterns. Cancers, cerebrovascular diseases, and hypertensive diseases have been the major causes of deaths in the Republic of Korea since 1983. Numerous studies have suggested the need for a sustained comprehensive treatment tailored for individual patients and recommend the development of a systematic program to manage NCD patients to provide such care. It's necessary to develop the Korean model of the community based NCD prevention and control, consisting strategy of community movement, education for the NCD patients, and partnership the primary care clinic with public health organization to meet the needs in community people.

This study was designed to examine characteristics of apartment floor plans that have been recently available. Content analysis was conducted, and 232 apartment floor plans were examined. This study indicated that the front width and the number of front bays also notably increased. Also, two bathrooms in a unit have been increasing, and three bedrooms were very popular. The conspicuous change of floor plan component is the appearance of entrance lobby. It was noted that dress room and powder room that appeared in a larger unit were adopted in small one. Housing suppliers have continuously attempted to have partial change in unit floor plan to accommodate consumers' diverse needs and lifestyle, Further analysis on our residential culture and continuous study on various development of floor plan types need to be made.

The change of consumers' lifestyles causes frequent study on beds along with growth of economy, improvement of education and increase of dwelling in new towns and nuclear family. Beds are frequently developed in recent years since consumers' lifestyles increasingly change caused by transformation of types of dwelling, influence of western lifestyle, and increase uses of a bed. Also, this transformation causes needs for research on bed designs. A Bed is an essential item in a life since people spend one third of a day in Also, in contemporary, the ages of consumers are varied from infants to seniors. The study examines the importance of beds which playa major role in households. Moreover, the purpose of this study of beds focused on surface materials, colors, and designs is suggesting bases for future developments.
