This study analyzed research trends related to lifelong church education through the analysis of academic papers recently published in Korea since 2000 and derived implications for lifelong church education. For the study, a total of 95 studies related to lifelong church education were analyzed among academic papers in domestic journals from 2000 to 2021. Academic papers were classified into research years, published journals, research subjects, research topics, and research methods, and then research trends were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, first, research related to lifelong church education has been activated since 2000 and has shown an increasing trend since 2010. Second, it was found that lifelong church education research has been conducted in various academic journals other than Christian education-related journals. Third, learner-centered research was the most common research subject, and among them, many studies targeting the elderly. Fourth, in relation to the research topic, studies on the role and necessity of lifelong church education were the most dominant, and many studies on the direction of promotion of lifelong church education were also conducted. Fifth, research related to lifelong church education is a theoretical study, and literature research is mainly conducted, and the use of other research methods was insignificant. According to these research results, it was found that practical approaches such as analysis of demands for life long education and verification of program effectiveness were insufficient. Therefore, an integrated search for lifelong church education is needed. In addition, it is necessary to continuously develop regional customized programs to support detailed areas of lifelong church education and local missionary work. It is suggested that policy sponsorship at the church, seminary, and state level is needed to promote lifelong education in churches.

This thesis is purposed to develop a regional-customized education program selection model using big data analysis. Based on the literature review, the concepts and characteristics of big data and lifelong education are analyzed. In addition, this thesis presents how to collect the data for lifelong education and to use big data suitable for the characteristics of lifelong education. Based on these results, a regional- customized lifelong education program selection model is developed. The regional customized lifelong education program model is developed by the following six steps. The customized education program model proposed in this study has a high degree of flexibility in terms of practical use, as it can be utilized in real-time data provision methods such as the nationally approved Lifelong Learning Personal Status Survey without the need for analysis one year later, allowing for selective analysis and future predictions. It is clear that there is a significant need and value for big data in the education field. Furthermore, all programs used in the sample model are provided free of charge, and due to the programming nature, the community is actively engaged in exchanges, making it very easy to modify and improve for the development of a more complete education program model in the future.
The purpose of this study was to understand socio-demographic factors related to older adults' participation patterns in lifelong education. For the purpose, this study used the raw data of 2017 Survey of the Living Conditions of the Elderly (SLCE) conducted by The Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs. From the data of 10,073 older adults, their lifelong education participation, participating program types, participating organizations, and participating frequency were analyzed by their sex, age, educational level, household income, the longest job status, and health status. According to lifelong education program types, significant differences were found between education groups of middle school/lower and groups of high school/higher and between 1, 2 quintile income groups and 3, 4, 5 quintile income groups. In relation to the participating organizations, groups of 70 years and older, middle school and higher education level, under 3 quintile income, and poor health tended to participate in lifelong education at the elderly welfare center, senior citizens, and elderly classrooms. In terms of participation frequency, high school and college/higher than 0 year of school education, and regular workers than unpaid family workers were more frequently participated in lifelong education. This study showed the inequality in lifelong education participation according to older adults' demographic characteristics; finally, this study suggested necessary policies and academic discussions for future older adults' lifelong education.
