Objective: This study examined the effects of social support and resilience on life satisfaction of child care teachers. Methods: This study was conducted by sampling 162 child care teachers who participated in job training courses in the Gyeongsangbuk-do region. Three kinds of variables, which included social support, resilience, and life satisfaction were measured. The collected data were analyzed using PASW 18.0 program for windows. Results: First, social support, resilience, and life satisfaction of the child care teachers were generally above normal. The resilience subscale showed the highest score in 'affirmative', followed by 'interpersonal ability', 'self-control ability'. And the 'support of colleagues' was higher than 'support of superior' in the social support's subscale. Next, there were no significant differences in social support by child care teachers' background, but there were significant differences in resilience and life satisfaction of child care teachers' according to their working center types and academic levels. Second, life satisfaction was positively correlated with social support, and resilience. The 'affirmative', 'support of superior' variables were factors that predicted life satisfaction. Conclusion/Implications: We suggested ways to increase the life satisfaction of child care teachers through the 'affirmative' and 'support of superior' variables.
Objective: The purpose of the present study was to examine the associations between affective commitment, social support, and life satisfaction among child care teachers. Methods: One hundred fifty-four child care teachers in the metropolitan area of Seoul completed a questionnaire on affective commitment, social support, and life satisfaction. Descriptive statistics, correlation analyses, hierarchical multiple regression analyses using the bootstrapping method were conducted. Results: The results showed that affective commitment predicted increased life satisfaction. The results also revealed significant moderation effects of social support on the relationship between affective commitment and life satisfaction. Further analyses revealed significant moderation effects of support from directors and colleagues on the relationship. Conclusion/Implications: The findings highlight the importance of affective commitment in enhancing life satisfaction among child care teachers. The positive association is more pronounced among child care teachers who perceive social support, highlighting the supportive roles of directors and colleagues in enhancing life satisfaction among child care teachers.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine how job stress, coping style, and social support were associated with quality of life among child care teachers. Methods: The participants were comprised of 281 child care teachers in the metropolitan area of Seoul. Job stress, problem-focused coping style, social support, and quality of life were assessed by a teacher-reported questionnaire. Results: Correlation and regression analyses revealed that while job stress predicted lower quality of life, having problem-focused coping style and family support enhanced quality of life among child care teachers. Furthermore, results showed significant moderation effects of support from directors at child care centers on the relationship between job stress and quality of life among child care teachers. Conclusion/Implications: The findings suggest the important role of problem-focused coping styles and family support in enhancing quality of life. Moreover, support from directors at child care centers appeared to buffer the effects of job stress on quality of life among child care teachers. Results were discussed in terms of their implications for educational and counseling programs for child care teachers.
Purpose: This study aimed to examine the influence of family support and death preparation on the quality of life in home care hospice patients. Methods: The study recruited 117 patients in home care hospice in four general tertiary hospitals and three general hospitals in three cities. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaires from September 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020 and analyzed using the statistical package IBM SPSS software version 22.0. Results: The quality of life according to the participants' general characteristics of the subjects shows a statistically significant difference between patients who live with supporters and those who do not(Z=2.96, p=.003). A statistically significant correlation was found between predictors such as family support, death preparation, and quality of life. Family support and death preparation affect the quality of life in home care hospice patients and these variables could explain 33.7% of it. Conclusion: To improve the quality of life in home care hospice patients, we should develop an intervention to enhance family support and death preparation.
Purpose: This study was to identify the effects of simulation-based training for advanced cardic life support on the competence of nurses in critical care settings. Methods: In this study, a nonequivalent control pretest-post test quasi-experimental design was used. Data were collected from May 1 to June 1, 2006 at one general hospital in W city. Among 40 nurses in critical care settings, twenty were assigned to the experimental group and twenty to the control group. Nurses in the experimental group received simulation-based training for advanced cardiac life support. Measurement tool were ACLS related knowledge and skills developed by AHA & Mega Code (2005) and some items were modified. The collected data were statistically processed using SPSS version 12.0 for Windows, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, $X^2$test, t-test, paired ttest, Pearson correlation coefficients. Results: 1) Hypothesis 1“: Nurses who received simulationbased training would have more knowledge of advanced cardiac life support than nurses who received traditional training”, was supported (t=11.51, p=.00). 2) Hypothesis 2: “Nurses who received simulation-based training would have better advanced cardiac life support skills than nurses who received traditional training”, was supported (t=2.38, p=.00). Conclusion: Simulation-based training for advanced cardiac life support is an effective strategy for increasing the competence of nurses in advanced cardiac life support in critical care settings.

This study aimed to explore the moderating effect of social support resources on the life satisfaction and caregiving burden of family caregivers taking care of the elderly in long-term care services. The study participants were selected from among the family caregivers utilizing 30 home care centers in Seoul, Korea. Of the candidates who agreed to participate in the study, 250 caregivers who had supported the elderly at home for at least 6 months were selected. The data collected were analyzed using SPSS ver. 21.0. The study findings were as follows. First, the whole family caregivers' caregiving burden of family caregivers was found to be slightly higher than the median value. More specifically, the physical burden was the heaviest, followed by the family relationship burden, the social activity burden, the emotional burden, and the financial burden. Social support resources and life satisfaction were found to be a little bit higher than the median value. Second, the variables that statistically significantly increased life satisfaction, starting with the strongest effect, were a lower psycho emotional burden, greater informational support resources, a lower economical burden, greater emotional support, a younger caregiver age, a higher monthly income, and a shorter care period. Third, informational support resources were found to have a moderating effect on the relationship between the support burden and life satisfaction. The more the participants used the informational support resource subcategory of the social support resources, the narrower the life satisfaction decrease, even though the caregivers felt a support burden. Informational support resources appear to have a statistically significant buffering effect.
This study was conducted to identify the relationships among self-care agency, family support, qualify of life in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The subjects were 120 rheumatoid arthritis patients who attended RA O.P.D. at a university hospital, located in Daegu city, from 10th of May in 1998 to 30th of July in 1998. Three structure questionnaires were administered for explore three main research variables; 소향숙's self-care agency scale, 강현숙's family support scale, and 김종임's quality of life scale of RA patien. Data analysis was conducted with SPSS program including percentage, mean, standard deviation, mean score, Pearson Correlation Coefficient, multiple regression, and Cronbach's Alpha. Results are summarized as follows; 1. The mean of RA patient's self-care agency was 136.62, the mean of family support 37.38, and the mean of qualify of life 134.41. 2. Subject's self-care agency was positively correlated with family support(r=.2446) and with quality of life(r=.4341). Subject's family support was positively correlated with quality of life(r=.2630). 3. Stepwise multiple regression was used to determine the predictors of subject's quality of life. Significant predictors for subject's quality of life were self-care agency(t=4.873 p=0.0000), family support(t=4.480 p=0.0000) and the severity of arthralgia(t=-3.838, p=0.0002). The number of joints involved and the periods of illness did not show significant contribution to subject's quality of life. Self-care agency, family support, and family support explained 40. 39% of the variance in RA patient's quality of life. Given this results, it is suggested that a repeated study to measure RA patient's self-care practice in their own life may be needed to develope and validate an optimum level of nursing intervention for RA patient with which family support will be encouraged and patient's self-care agency will be facilitated.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among family support, self-care and quality of life(QOL) in Patients with hepatocellular carcinoma receiving transarterial chemoembolization, including the effects of these variables on QOL. Methods: The research was a cross-sectional, descriptive design. Participants were 103 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma who were receiving transarterial chemoembolization. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one way ANOVA, and hierachial multiple regression analysis with SPSS 18.0 program. Results: QOL had a significant correlation with family support(r=.60, p<.001) and self-care(r=.38, p<.001). Family support had a significant correlation with self-care(r=.41, p<.001). Hierarchial multiple regression analysis for QOL revealed that the most powerful predictor was family support followed by self-care. Family support, self-care, gender, and occupation explained 50% of the variance in quality of life. Conclusion: These results indicate that various factors are related to the quality of life of these patients. Further, nursing strategies to improve the family support and self-care of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma are needed.
Purpose : This study purposed to conduct a comprehensive survey of home care nursing clients' quality of life based on the PRECEDE model. Method : This study selected 74 home care nursing clients registered at a university hospital in Incheon and performed face-to-face interviews by structured questionnaire. The research period was two months from the $2^{nd}$ of February to the $30^{th}$ of March in 2004. Result : According to the result of assessment at each stage of the PRECEDE model, home care nursing clients' quality of life was 13.88 out of 25 points, health level 15.22 out of 21, abilities to perform activities of daily living 29.26 out of 100, cognitive abilities 16.00 out of 30, social support 13.68 out of 20, and satisfaction with home care nursing service 33.26 out of 40. According to the result of stepwise regression in order to identify factors influencing home care nursing clients' quality of life, social support and abilities of daily living were found to be significant variables among the characteristics of each assessment stage. Conclusion : It is necessary to develop nursing intervention strategies for strengthening social support and enhancing abilities to perform activities of daily living in order to improve home nursing clients' quality of life.
Purpose: This study investigated trends of nursing research on life-sustaining treatment in South Korea. Methods: The period for data search was set from January 2018 to December 2020. The major search terms used were advance directives and life-sustaining treatment. Of the 492 records identified in the initial search, 461 articles were excluded for various reasons. A total of 31 records were included in the final qualitative analysis. Results: Sixteen studies had nursing students as study subjects, while nine studies had nurses as study subjects. The majority of the studies employed cross-sectional descriptive surveys as their research design. The major themes that emerged from the studies were as follows: attitudes toward withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment, knowledge of and attitudes toward advance directives, perceptions of a good death, and nurses' attitude toward life support care. Most of the studies reviewed concluded that attitudes toward withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment significantly impacted both knowledge of and attitudes toward advance directives and perceptions of a good death. Conclusion: To date, Korea still lacks extensive nursing research concerning life support care. Further research is needed to provide systematic education for nursing ethics and life support care, as well as the introduction of a specialist course. Furthermore, a multidisciplinary approach is necessary to provide diverse support systems and policy measures. In particular, since nurses are directly responsible for providing life support care, nurses' roles should be expanded in accordance with the Act on Decisions on Life-Sustaining Treatment.
