The exhaust system of automobile is faced with random or spectrum types of fatigue loads during usage life and so needs to be closely estimated for quality and performance to have enough certainty on design endurance lift during preliminary design process. Structural operation conditions, operation load history, property of material and manufacturing process etc. should be considered by performing experiment approach. Using the software program for predicting fatigue life quickly and exactly in preliminary design stage saves plenty of time and cost generated by fatigue tests. In this paper, fatigue life prediction was performed on the basis of fatigue analysis using MSC/FATIGUE and load data from field test and the life of development items was estimated and compared through the results.
For the rational design of welded joint, it is needed to assess repeatedly the fatigue life of the joint with various dimensions and welding conditions. In this paper, an automation of repeated process of fatigue life assessment for welded cruciform joint was studied. The process is related to stress analysis in vicinity of weld-toe and fatigue life assessment based on analyzed stress distribution. With the change of design condition including dimensions and/or welding heat input, the above two works have to be performed. Using the commercial tool for system integration, ModelCenter, an automation of the repeated process for welded cruciform joint based on 2D modeling was achieved. In this automation system, data exchanges between programs regardless of commercial or in-house one work well, and parametric studies for optimal design can be performed.

Teachers must design instruction to meet effective teaching and learning before teaching implementation. The traditional models of instructional design such as Dick and Carey, ADDIE and ASSURE have been widely applied. However, the traditional models of instructional design have limitation in that students fail in deep understanding of subject content because of break down essential goal of the unit small pieces of contents. To solve this problem, Wiggins and McTighe have suggested backward design. Backward design is a method of designing instruction by setting evaluation before choosing activities or content to teach. Therefore, this study explores the effective teaching and learning by analyzing structure of backward design and appling backward design to 'Library and Information Life' subject for information literacy education. Backward design for 'Library and Information Life' subject applies the template which Wiggins and McTighe devised for instructional design.

Concurrent Engineering (CE) has presented new possibilities for successful product development by incorporating various product life-cycle functions from the earlier stage of design. In the product design, geometric representation is vital not only in its traditional role as a means of communicating design information but also in its role as a means of externalizing designer's thought process by visualizing the design product. During the last dozens of years, there has been extraordinary development of computer-aided tools intended to generate, present or communicate 3D models. However, there has not been comparable progress in the development of 3D-CAD systems intended to represent and manipulate a variety of product life-cycle information in a consistent manner. In the previous research, the authors proposed a novel concept called Minus Volume (MV) to incorporate various design information relevant to product life-cycle functions. This paper proposes the use of the MV concept for the collaborative design environment, where many team members are geographically distributed over the networked environment, including Internet, Intranet, WWW, etc. A prototype 3D-CAD system is implemented based on the MV concept and illustrated with the successful implementation of collaborative design example.

The aim of this study was to develop and implement a program based on Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) for female college students experiencing body dissatisfaction. To systematize the program development process, we adopted the service design method. First, we conducted In-Depth Interviews (IDIs) to identify the difficulties faced by six female college students who experience body dissatisfaction, and to determine what kind of help they needed. Second, content analysis of the findings revealed that female college students were experiencing emotional-behavior problems which derived from the discrepancy between their ideal body image and the reality. Third, a prototype of a cognitive reconstruction program was developed to help transform their perceived 'body distortion' to a rational cognitive concept and thus reduce maladaptive consequences of 'body dissatisfaction'. The overall program consisted of three therapeutic components and seven steps. Fourth, to assess the effectiveness of the program, survey and IDIs were conducted. The results revealed that it is appropriate to use a cognitive model to solve problems caused by body dissatisfaction, and that understanding and reconstructing one's own cognitive processes can be effective in reducing body dissatisfaction. However, based on feedback from participants, a number of revisions were proposed, such as including sufficient induction regarding the behavioral change.

Most of the accelerated life tests deal with tests that use only one accelerating variable and no other explanatory variables. Frequently, however, there is a test to use more than one accelerating or other experimental variables, such as, for examples, a test of capacitors at higher than usual conditions of temperature and voltage, a test of circuit boards at higher than usual conditions of temperature, humidity and voltage. A accelerated life test is extended to M-level stress accelerated life test with k-stress variables. The optimal design for Weibull distribution is studied with k-stress variables.
This study was suggested to develop sustainable durability design system and proposed the plan to evaluate design conditions that meet the intended service life and $LCCO_{2}$ reduction level of reinforced concrete structure easily from the early design stage. For that the W/B and covering depth of the concrete structure were calculated through calculation of service life based on standard specification expression and the quantitative reduction rate of the vertical member of reinforced concrete structure by the calculated W/B was applied. Life cycle of building classified into construction stage, operation stage, maintenance stage, and demolition/disposal stage and the method of $CO_{2}$ evaluation of each stage was proposed. For construction stage, the major construction materials that take up over 80% $CO_{2}$ emitting during building construction were selected and the $CO_{2}$ evaluation method for 5 standard apartment houses was proposed. Also, for operation stage, $CO_{2}$ emission was calculated through calculation of heating load by energy efficiency rating certification system. For maintenance stage, $CO_{2}$ emission was calculated using concept of re-construction by life and for demolition/disposal stage was calculated with the use of construction standard estimate. As a result of the case study by such evaluation methods, 80 years of service life and 17 specifications of sustainable durability design that meet the 40% intended $LCCO_{2}$ reduction level were deduced. The Maximum $LCCO_{2}$ reduction rate was analyzed by 47.2%.
This study devised an instruction that applies the content factors of Family Life Planning to backward design by exploring the fundamental concepts of backward design and the structure of developing a systematic instruction. Furthermore, it was conducted to improve the developed instruction by examining its validity with the help of experts and to find the method of applying it to the curriculum. The lesson design of this study was as follows. 1) Making a unit outline, 2) Identifying the expected results (Shaping the objectives), 3) Deciding acceptable evidence (Planning evaluation), 4) Making a detailed blueprint for class tasks, 5) Planning learning experience, 6) Making a learning experience plan per time, 7) Checking the lesson design. Second, experts participated in this study for the internal validity test about the process of the systematic lesson development of Family Life Design based on a backward design. The results were shown to be valid because the average was 3.7 out of a perfect score 4 and the CVI of all was over 0.9. The result of the IRA was also score 1, meaning that most of the experts agreed on the results of the test. The details of the lesson design were clear at every stage and the tasks and the results of each stage were specific. This study included most of the necessary stages for a backward design.

Purpose: This study was done to identify the relationship of perceived health status, leisure satisfaction, loneliness and life satisfaction and to identify predictors of life satisfaction for elders. Method: The research design for this study was a descriptive survey design using a convenience sample. Data collection was done using self-report questionnaires with 297 elders from 6 community health practitioner posts. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients and hierarchical multiple regression with the SPSS Win 18.0 Program. Results: Life satisfaction had significant negative correlations with age (r=-.31, p<.001) and loneliness (r=-.73, p<.001), and positive correlations with monthly spending money (r=.44, p<.001), health status (r=.63, p<.001), and leisure satisfaction (r=.62, p<.001). The explained variance for life satisfaction was 72%. Variables of monthly spending money, health status, leisure satisfaction, and loneliness significantly predicted the degree on life satisfaction of these elders. Conclusion: Findings of this study provide a comprehensive understanding of life satisfaction and related factors for elders in Korea. However, further studies with a larger random sample and more detailed research design are necessary.
