Existing methods for optimization of sequences by random mutagenesis generate libraries with a small number of mostly deleterious mutations, resulting in libraries containing a large fraction of non-functional clones that explore only a small part of sequence space. Large numbers of clones need to be screened to find the rare mutants with improvements. Library display formats are useful to screen very large libraries but impose screening limitations that limit the value of this approach for most commercial applications. By contrast, in both classical breeding and in DNA shuffling, natural diversity is permutated by homologous recombination, generating libraries of very high quality, from which improved clones can be identified with a small number of complex screens. Given that this small number of screens can be performed under the conditions of actual use of the product, commercially relevant improvements can be reliably obtained.

본 연구는 서로 다른 주제를 갖는 장서내의 통계적 용어 특성에 따라 적합한 자동 색인 기법을 제시하는데 그 목적이 있으며 약학분야와 도서과.정보학분야를 대상으로 하여 두개의 자동 색인 기법을 비교. 평가하였다. 사용된 자동 색인 기법은 역문헌 빈도 가중 기 법과 문헌 분리가 가중 기법이며 총 장서 빈도와 문헌 빈도로 정의되는 용어 특성과 자동 색인 기법으로 할당된 가중치들 간의 관계를 분석하였다.

A number of mimetic peptides of apolipoprotein A-I, a major component for high density lipoproteins (HDL), were screened from the phase-displayed random peptide library by utilizing monoclonal antibodies (A12). A mimetic peptide for A12 epitope against apolipoprotein A-I was selected as FVLVRDTFPSSVCCP(pA2) exhibiting 45% homology with Apo A-I in the BLAST search. Solution structure determination of this mimotope was made by using 2D-NMR data and NMR-based distance geometry (DG)/molecular dynamic calculations. The resulting DG structures had low penalty value of 0.4-0.6 ${\AA}^2$ and the total RMSD of 0.7-1.7 ${\AA}$. The mimotope pA2 exhibited a characteristic ${\beta}$-turn conformation from Val[2] to Phe[8] near Pro[9] residue.

Radiation-induced oscillatory instability in diffusion flames is numerically investigated with nonlinear dynamics considered. As the simplest flame model, a diffusion flame established in the stagnant mixing layer is employed with optically thin gas-phase radiation and unity Lewis numbers for all species. Attention is focused on the radiation-induced extinction regime, which occurs at large $Damk\ddot{o}hler$ number. Once the steady flame structure is obtained for a prescribed value of the initial $Damk\ddot{o}hler$ number, transient solution of the flame is calculated after a finite amount of the $Damk\ddot{o}hler$-number perturbation is imposed on the steady flame. Transient evolution of the flame exhibits three types of flame-evolution behaviors, namely decaying oscillatory solution, diverging solution to extinction and stable limit-cycle solution. A dynamic extinction boundary is identified for laminar flamelet library.

Based on the hit compound 4 derived from focused library, a series of furo[2,3-d]pyrimidines were designed, synthesized and evaluated for the inhibitory activity against Akt1 kinase. And their structure-activity relationships were investigated. Of these compounds, 3a having 2-thienyl and methyl groups at R1 and R2 showed the most potent activity with an IC50 value of 24 μ M. Introduction of the thienyl groups at C-5 and C- 6 positions significantly improved potency compared to furyl and phenyl groups.

As a result of the structural determination of this mimotope using homo/hetero nuclear 2D-NMR techniques and NMR-based distance geometry (DG)/molecular dynamic (MD) computations, DG structure had low penalty value of 0.3-0.7 ${\AA}^2$ and the total RMSD was 0.6-1.6 ${\AA}$. The mimotope pA1 exhibited characteristic conformation including a ${\beta}$-turn from Pro[7] to His[11].

In this paper, we designed 32-Hit MAC architecture of a RISC Processor for portable terminals such as cellular telephones, personal digital assistants, notebooks, etc. In order to have minimum area with best performance, the MAC performs 32 by 8 multiplication per cycle, with early termination circuit that enables multiply cycles depend on the value of multiplier. It uses the sign bit of a partial product and two extra bits for sign extension, The MAC is modeled and simulated in RTL using VHDL. The MAC is synthesized using IDEC C-631 Cell library based on 0.6$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS 1-Poly 3-metal CMOS technology.

In this paper, an MMIC broadband amplifier for wireless communication systems has been developed by using an active feedback method. This active feedback operates at much higher frequencies than a method by a spiral inductor feedback and its size is independent of the inductance value. The MMIC broadband amplifier was designed using a $0.5{\;}{\mutextrm{m}}$ MESFET library. The fabricated chip area was $1.4{\;}mm{\;}{\times}{\;}1.4{\;}mm. Measurement showed a gain of 18 dB with a gain flatness of ${\pm}3$ dB in a 1.5 GHz~3.5 GHz band. The maximum output power and the minimum noise figure were 14 dBm and 2.5 dB in the same band, respectively.

An optimum thermal design analysis of the combined cycle power plant with triple pressure heat recovery steam generator was performed by the numerical simulation. The optimum design module used in the paper is DNCONF, a function of IMSL Library, which is widly known as a method to search for the local optimum. The objective function to be minimized is the cost of total power plant including the steam turbine power enhancement premium. The result of this paper shows that the cost reduces if the design point of power plant becomes the local optimum, and many calculations at various initial conditions should be carried out to get the value near the global optimum.

Recently, IAQ(indoor air quality) is one of the greatest problems in our modern societies. Although research for IAQ is made rapid progress but microorganism concentration is much to be desired. So we have examined a variety of department store, subway station, underground shopping center, kindergartens, library etc. where people complain about the indoor air quality. The microorganism concentration of indoor air was investigated in this study and the average of total microorganisms was measured. The experimental results show that the ministry of Environment recommendation value (800 $CFU/m^3$)is in need of revision in the naer future.
