A Study on the Activation of Service for Patients and Carers in the Library in Hospital (병원 내 도서관의 환자 및 보호자를 위한 서비스 활성화 방안 연구)

  • This study focused on library services for patients and carers and conducted an awareness survey on the current status of library services for patients and carers in hospitals in Korea and on future library services for patients and carers. Through this, the ways to activate library services for patients and carers in the hospital were sought. Based on the results of the study, the research team proposes the following measures: First, the legislation for the mandatory establishment of libraries in hospitals and standards for the size, book collection, and manpower of libraries in hospitals should be enacted. Second, cooperation between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Ministry of Health and Welfare is essential to lay the foundation for the mandatory and voluntary establishment of hospital libraries at the national level in the future. Third, the operation of regional representative libraries, public libraries, and other institutions should be considered.

  • Research papers on sevice quality, which began with the manufacturing industry in many Northern Europe at the end of 1970, have been found since the companies became much concerned about the level of services they offered. Libraties can not be an exception to this situation. It is absolutely necessary to find a way to develop a competitive strategy to offer a high level of service to those who use libraries. The purpose of study is to evaluate the quality of library services by applying "SERVQUAL" and "SERVPERF" of evaluating service quality and to determine which of these 2 methods is better in terms of measuring library services. The study also investigated the relationship between the service quality an user satifaction.

  • The purpose of this study is to know the trends of research of reference service in Korea before 21th century from beginning. After analyzing of representative subject bibliographies , domestic research of this field can be devided into four chronical stages; the beginning stage in 1950’s, the changing stage in 1970’s, the developing stage in 1980’s and professional stage in 1990’s. And found out both domestic and internaional research seemed to have focused on the service theory, however there have been some differences in their lower subjects.

An Exploratory Study on the Internal Organizational Factors to Subject Specialized Services in University Libraries (대학도서관 주제전문서비스에 영향을 미치는 조직 내부 요인 탐색)

  • This study attempts to explore the internal organizational factors to subject specialized services in university libraries from a viewpoint of libraries as organizations. For this goal, a set of deep interviews were conducted with several librarians in a university library who are in charge of the subject specialized services, then analyzed the interview contents on individual, team, and organizational levels. The subject specialized services were explained with the perception of the job importance, support and cooperation on team level, motivation, team efficacy, and internal communication from the organizational viewpoint. As a result, the study identified several internal and organizational factors to the services, which should be considered for the sevice activation, with which organizational goals in libraries are supported.
