The rapidly growing at which information is produced and used in our complex society has presented us with major problems in information transfer. Resource sharing is almost universally accepted by librarians as the only realistic means for meeting future demands and no doubt the future will see continued growth in computer-based library networks for resource sharing. The resort to networking by many library and information institutions may be symptomatic of the difficulties they face in dealing with their rapidly changing environment. In this article, the library network is examined in relationship to resource sharing. Included is a discussion of the definitions of library network and other related terms, the main factors in the emergence of library network concept, the history of the concept of library networks, resource sharing through the library networks, the problems by which the development of networks is confronted, and prospects.

The aim of this study was to analyze the research trends on the digital libraries in Korea. To achieve this objective, a total of 578 author-assigned English keywords were collected from the 272 major LIS journal articles published in Korea during last ten years-period, i.e., 2007-2016. The collected data were analyzed using NetMiner V.4 to discover their 'degree centrality' and 'betweenness centrality'. As the results, 'Academic Library', 'Reference Service', 'Public Library', 'E Resource', and 'E Book' showed the most frequently conducted research topics, and 'Academic Library', 'Reference Service', 'Information Behavior', and 'E Resource' were the most influencing research topics. Finally, 'Academic Library', 'Metadata', 'Information Behavior', 'E Resource', and 'Librarian' seemed the most widely intervening research topics in this research.

Originally the concept of the traditional resource sharing has been discussed in the context of bibliographic materials, and has been labor-intensive and high-cost activities. The technology has had a great impact on such pattern of the resource sharing, and has expanded the limited scope of the traditional concept into the sharing of library information in the levels of local, regional and national systems, and expertise, materials, facilities, equipments and personnels of the library system. While the traditional circulation service as a basic method to share library materials by users can provide the resource to a single person at a time, the electronic resource can be shared, by multi-users at a time anytime anywhere. The maximization of the electronic resource sharing requires that publishing process should be fundamentally changed and articles, books, chapters, speech manuscripts, music scores, maps, sound, and other formats of materials should be prepared in machine readable format. This study examined the positive effects of the technology on the resource sharing, but not investigate the concrete and complex problems as to the cost, guidelines, detailed procedures, design details, and intellectual properties and protection involved in the resource sharing. Some findings extracted from the study can be summarized as follows; (1) ILL will lose its meaning as a method to share the materials if they are all in the electronic format and the phrase 'networked information resource' becomes omnipresent. (2) The technology keeps on changing the concept of resource sharing. Today, the scope of resource sharing not only encompasses the sharing of the primary and secondary materials but also the sharing of the processings(eg. cataloging), expertise, user education, special facilities, and the integrated automated library systems. (3) The sharing of the networked resource will be a method to provide better services for library users in the low cost. (4) The a n.0, pplication of the technology to the resource sharing should be focus on the method which allows an end-users to do the direct access to the needed materials, and to be delivered the primary document as soon as possible.

Korea is in the state of insufficient supply of research information, a gap of information between universities and absolute depends on foreign information resource. So it is necessary to activate inter-libray research information resource sharing. To encourage consciousness and spontaneous effort to inter-libray research information resource sharing, university libray evaluation system of contribution toward resource sharing is required. This study intends to survey present condition of inter-libray research information research information in Korea, and develope evaluation system about inter-libray research information resource sharing. And propose operating methods of evaluation system about insert established university evaluation system or execute independently.

With the rapid and broad changes of information media and information environment the traditional libraries have been evolving into the digital libraries. An analysis for the Planning and realization of the electronic resource management system was carried out to establish the various electronic resources in the digital library, the first in Korea. The study targeted from electronic journals, web-based databases, e-books, and to open access resources. The focus of the analysis lies in the Providing practical integrated electronic resource management for digital librarian based on the framework of effective Electronic Resource Management Initiative(ERMI) of Digital Library Federation(DLF) with network and electronic resource description. This study analyzed the functions, organizational structure and activities of NCLIS, LIC and Resource in USA and UK. In result, NCLIS as an independent agency within executive branch performs the powerful advisory function to U.S. Congress and government agencies and supports to improve the library and information services with IMLS conducting the government policies. LIC and Resource in UK renders advisory function to improve library and information services with government fund although they are only committee under the Department for Culture , Media and Sports.

This research aims to present a development plan on the Korean diaspora information resource management in a viewpoint document information and archives. This study consists of two aspects : a document investigation based on Korean diaspora and information resource and in a practical examine based on a spot of life, settlement, and movement of overseas. This paper discussed the factors that necessitated information networking, types of networks, benefits of information networking, library information networking and the University of Port 0Harcourt library network initiatives. Information networking is a process of communication, exchange of ideas, resource sharing and collaboration between individuals, organizations, institutions and libraries and it is facilitated by ICTs and the internet for improved accessibility. It has been brought about by information explosion, rapid advancement in information communication technologies, inadequate funding and increased demand for quality information. Networks can be classified into local, national, regional, and international networks and are formed to serve different categories of user communities. Benefits of information networking include resource sharing, on-line conferences and participation in programmes at distant centers, collaboration among scholars in different countries. Communication flow through the internet, social media, and electronic mail. Library information networking started with the interlibrary loan which has metamorphosed into library consortia in which groups of libraries partner to coordinate activities, share resources and combine expertise. The University of Port Harcourt Library network initiatives started with an e-granary (a CD ROM) and the establishment of a local area network. The library subscribes to more than 10 electronic databases. Information networking has greatly improved the sharing of resources in acquisition and dissemination of information resources since no single institution can acquire the overwhelming number of information resources in their various formats.

Academic libraries presently are confronting the issues of organizational viability and relevance. Academic libraries are not the sole owners of the information gateway. The purpose of this study is modeling of university library's information service for effective implication of its role in order to ensure organizational viability and relevance in internet environment.
